Sunny Joy - CHAPTER 11
Song Ciyue is in a relationship, and her partner is Meng Ran.
Maybe it’s fate; she ran into Meng Ran again on the bus.
Song Ciyue saw the fresh and clean young man, her gaze flickered unnaturally for a moment. Upon seeing him, her memories suddenly came flooding back.
That awkward situation, I believe sending her to help build Notre-Dame at that time would definitely have resulted in a perfect one being built underground.
She thought about staying away from people, so she didn’t move to the back, but then one stop after another, more people got on. As more people boarded, the car became stuffy.
Song Ciyue felt a bit carsick, so she unconsciously moved towards the place with wind and space.
However, the driver suddenly slammed on the brakes, and Song Ciyue, who was already feeling dizzy, immediately lost her balance and fell directly onto the boy’s lap.
This boy, she seems a bit familiar to me.
Ah, this… why is it him again?
Moreover, this time Song Ciyue was wearing a little dress and directly sat on his lap.
She felt that the guy’s muscles were a bit tense.
Song Ciyue and Meng Ran exchanged glances.
Based on the principle that as long as I’m not embarrassed, he won’t be either, Song Ciyue looked back at him gracefully and said softly, “I’m really sorry, I get a bit carsick and couldn’t hold onto the handrail properly.”
Meng Ran’s ears were a bit red.
Surprisingly, Meng Ran actually wrapped his arm around Song Ciyue’s waist and made her sit on his lap.
Since that time, the two of them have been different, often keeping in touch, whether chatting or having meals together. Because of this, they sometimes abandoned their roommates, and finally, one person started to complain.
Yang Liu: “Just for a lousy man, you went back with him and left me to ride my bike back alone?”
Let me explain: Yang Liu and Song Ciyue often spend time together. The school is very large, and the two have a beloved electric scooter. There are also shared bicycles on campus, and Meng Ran has a monthly pass.
Afterwards, Song Ciyue took Meng Ran with her, and Meng Ran got a bike for Yang Liu. Yang Liu rode the bike back by herself.
Then Yang Liu started to pretend to cry, going through the full act. She even occasionally pretended to wipe away tears, trying to evoke Song Ciyue’s conscience with her pitiful appearance.
Song Ciyue touched her conscience and found that it didn’t hurt.
“I think I might just be someone who forgets friends for the sake of attraction. For me, I might give up one of you for a guy I have a good relationship with, like the one who rides a bike.”
This love-struck brain is confirmed; I personally went down to verify it.
One day, Song Ciyue and Meng Ran planned to go hiking together, along with a few of Meng Ran’s friends. Seeing that they were all paired up, Song Ciyue couldn’t help but wonder if he was hinting at something.
Song Ciyue originally thought that a few people were going to climb the mountain together. She felt a bit disappointed because there wasn’t much time for just the two of them alone, and thus, there was a lack of romantic tension.
It seems that his friends are not very enthusiastic either; she is the one greeting them, and the others don’t seem to have any intention of starting a conversation.
Seeing them all leave separately, Song Ciyue let out a long sigh of relief; this was great, no need to be together.
The two people, thinking about conquering the mountain, didn’t choose the cable car or anything like that, but measured it on foot.
Song Ciyue quickly realized that she had overestimated her physical abilities.
Come to think of it, Song Ciyue is just a slacker university student. She wouldn’t participate in anything related to sports, like running. She wouldn’t even walk a bit; she always relies on a car.
Such a female college student, what kind of physical fitness do you expect her to have?
However, in front of her crush, Song Ciyue still wanted to save face a bit. She wanted to give the impression of being resilient and cute, not afraid of hardship or exhaustion, so she stubbornly climbed halfway up the mountain.
Song Ciyue had reached her limit; she couldn’t climb anymore and didn’t want to take another step. Whoever loves to climb this damn mountain can do it; she wasn’t going to help anymore. Sigh, what a pity for her crush; it seems they are fated to be apart.
Actually, there’s no need to give up. Maybe going up the mountain isn’t the best way to improve their relationship. She can go back and ask others for advice. There are so many strategists, and they’re not just sitting around doing nothing!
She had just planned to politely yet reservedly inform Meng Ran of her intention to leave first when she saw him a few steps ahead, looking at something.
Song Ciyue also leaned over to take a look, and her face turned dark.
These days, even road signs are becoming unruly? Which normal road sign would mock others?
It read: “Can’t climb anymore, huh? Hahahahaha!”
She swallowed her words again.
However, Meng Ran noticed that she was physically exhausted, so he slowed down on the way and even picked up a stick for her, telling her to take her time.
Song Ciyue wasn’t in the mood… mainly because she didn’t have the energy to chat with the boys. She trudged along in silence, truly regretting it. Climbing this mountain was really just torturing herself.
But do boys really have such good stamina? Why does she see Meng Ran looking completely fine? It’s quite terrifying.
Soon… or rather, it should have been slow, but by the time we reached the next milestone, it was already past three in the afternoon.
Signpost: Don’t worry, there are still thirty thousand steps left. Friendly reminder, there are snakes on the road, many graves, don’t take the wrong path.
Song Ciyue was a bit on the verge of a breakdown. Another thirty thousand steps? The things on this road were quite terrifying—snakes, graves—thank you so much for the comprehensive road signs, which are exactly what she fears the most.
Persuasion! I have to go back.
She mentioned it to Meng Ran as she spoke.
“Go back fifty thousand steps, are you sure?”
A single sentence shattered Song Ciyue’s entire world.
She walked with heavy steps, carrying the determination to sacrifice herself for justice, embarking on her final journey.
Song Ciyue felt like she was about to collapse, like a fish stranded on the shore, unable to breathe, hot and exhausted. She gasped for air, her lungs burning painfully.
Suddenly, someone grabbed her by the collar and lifted her onto their back. She was still a bit dazed, and it took her brain, deprived of oxygen, quite a while to catch up.
Finally, we reached the summit, and it got dark.
Sign: You have entered Wonderland, rejecting the mundane world.
Song Ciyue collapsed: “Finally made it up. Where are we going next?”
Meng Ran retorted, “Do you still want to climb?”
Song Ciyue decisively shook her head: “If you want to climb, you can do it yourself. I won’t go with you.”
Meng Ran laughed, “Then we won’t climb. How could I possibly leave you here alone? Let’s just watch the sunrise here.”
Song Ciyue sat on the bench, already a bit disoriented: “Call me when it’s time.”
Meng Ran also sat beside her, watching as her head gradually drooped until it finally rested on his shoulder, and she fell asleep. Meng Ran supported her head, moved it to the side, took out the jacket Song Ciyue had stuffed into his bag, draped it over her, and then placed the girl’s head back on his shoulder.
