Sunny Joy - CHAPTER 15
“Meng Ran told me that there were no girls that time.”
Her roommate comforted her, saying, “He might just be trying to reassure you, that’s why he said that. He probably doesn’t mean anything else, so don’t overthink it!”
Song Ciyue continued, saying that she felt Meng Ran’s friends didn’t like her; they seemed to have their own circle and had also rejected her entry into it.
They looked at Song Ciyue’s chat history in the group chat and then said, “What they did is really upsetting. Playing with guys’ friends, whom you don’t even know, and no one replies to your messages is so awkward. Now that he’s your boyfriend, he doesn’t even pay attention to you?”
Song Ciyue suddenly felt a bitterness in her heart, as if all the grievances had found an outlet.
“Men like this are mostly useless, really useless, it’s so frustrating! They don’t even give women a break.”
“Maybe I didn’t see it at the time.”
Her friend noticed she looked a bit upset and said, “Why don’t you just leave the group? Out of sight, out of mind!”
Song Ciyue’s finger lingered over the button to exit the group chat for a long time, but in the end, she still gave up: “This doesn’t seem quite right…”
Chu Xi has recently finished her tasks and has plenty of time, so Song Ci Yue likes to chat with her for a while when she’s feeling down, because Chu Xi has always been a very positive person.
Thinking about the previous complaints about Meng Ranfa’s 5.20, she was somewhat bothered by it.
Yue: Don’t you think I’ve become a bit materialistic?
Xi: Where? Why are you asking all of a sudden?
Yue: It’s nothing, it’s nothing.
Xi: Kiddo, I just bought an air fryer, I can fry you two big chicken legs every week. Anything less won’t do, I don’t like girls who are too materialistic.
Yue: What’s more important than us living a good life together? I can bring my own cola.
Xi: Hmm, then it’s settled. When the time comes for the postgraduate entrance exam, it’s best if we both take it in the same city. That way, we can be together.
Yue: Let’s work hard together!
No one knows that this is a promise that will never be fulfilled.
It might be the guilt from not escorting the girl home last time, or it could just be a simple desire to spend time together; in the afternoon, the two went to watch a movie.
Passing by a flower shop, Song Ciyue saw some peach blossom branches. Such branches felt quite rare. Meng Ran noticed that she seemed a bit interested, so he went into the shop and let her pick one she liked, spending 45 to buy it.
Several flowers have already bloomed on top, and the boss said the remaining buds will also open and grow green leaves. They can be enjoyed for quite a long time when placed in water.
The boy lowered his head and rubbed her nose, saying, “I bought you some peach blossoms. You can’t have any bad ones from now on.”
For no apparent reason, Song Ciyue’s heart raced, feeling as if a little deer was bumping around in her chest.
When it was almost evening, they had barbecue.
The boy is very considerate and always takes the girl’s tongs, saying he’s afraid the oil will splatter on her and that the steam might scald her.
Saying this is like treating her as if she were a porcelain doll, afraid of her getting bumped or scratched, giving her a sense of being cherished.
So nice, this is love.
So, the girl has been patiently waiting to eat, one grilling, one eating, very harmonious.
The girl has a small stomach, so by the time she can’t eat anymore, the rest all goes into the boy’s stomach, not wasting anything.
The two people picked a movie and went to the cinema. As the lights dimmed and the dark environment enveloped them, the atmosphere became charged with ambiguity.
Song Ciyue had already forgotten those little grievances; those things seemed to become unimportant after they met. She found it hard to imagine how long-distance couples managed to endure.
When they don’t meet, she feels that their relationship is a bit distant, separated by a layer, making her easily irritable and uneasy. But after they meet, those feelings disappear.
She leaned against the boy, resting her head on his chest, feeling his heart beating so fast.
Just like when she buys flowers, her heart races just as fast.
She looked up, unable to see the man’s face clearly in the darkness: “Your heart is beating so fast.”
He said, “What should I do? Being with you, I’ve always felt this way.”
The man’s voice was very magnetic, making her ears a bit red.
There were fewer people watching the movie today, and there was a somewhat unusual sound coming from outside the theater. Following the sound, she saw a couple kissing not far away.
She seemed as if she had been scalded, immediately retracting her gaze.
The boy noticed her actions and asked her, “What’s wrong?”
She whispered, “It’s nothing, just keep watching.”
Help, so embarrassing.
Song Ciyue couldn’t quite focus, her mind repeatedly replaying the recent scene.
She felt like she was going crazy, and secretly glanced at his… lips, as if she wanted to… Song Ciyue sensed this thought and immediately pushed it out of her mind, never wanting to think about it again.
She felt very thirsty, so she kept sipping her Coke, not daring to look around too much, and feeling too shy to look at him.
While she was drinking, someone took her Coke away, and she cast a puzzled glance.
“You can’t drink too much; if you drink too much of this at night, your stomach will feel uncomfortable.”
Song Ciyue was a bit conflicted: “You…”
She wanted to ask, “Do you want to kiss me?” but saying that would make her seem a bit too forward.
The boy tilted his head to look at her: “What’s wrong?”
“Nothing.”
She still hasn’t said it out loud.
I’m so embarrassed.
“I know you want to drink, it’s the last sip, be good.”
To prevent her from still thinking about it, I just drank the rest of it all at once.
The girl’s ears turned red, and her gaze began to wander.
Does this count as an indirect kiss…?
The movie ended, and Song Ciyue’s mood calmed down a bit, feeling less flustered. This time, the boy walked her to the dormitory entrance, bringing along the branch of peach blossoms and a doll.
Friends gathered around: “How was the date?”
“Not bad, not bad.”
The sharp-eyed roommate noticed the flower: “This flower is quite rare.”
“He bought it for me, but the wind was a bit strong on the way back, and many of the petals got blown off.”
Song Ciyue is a bit of a pity.
“Is it expensive?”
“A little, selling for 45.”
My roommate exclaimed, “45? Is this a peach blossom? Give me the money, this is worth me risking a trip to the green belt for you.”
“Hahahahahahaha! This peach blossom might have been the florist’s risky venture.”
“Tsk tsk tsk, people in love are just different. You can’t deny it, just look at Yueyue, it definitely means something different! Don’t even think about it, no matter how risky it gets, it’s not the same flower anymore.”
Song Ciyue’s cheeks turned red from the teasing, and she felt quite embarrassed. Remembering what the boy had said earlier, her heart felt sweet.
Lying in bed, she tossed and turned, unable to sleep. Finally, she sent the boy a goodnight message and waited. Only after he replied with a goodnight did she finally put down her phone and drift off into a deep sleep.
