Sunny Joy - CHAPTER 29
The common enemy of college students is the Eight Hundred.
Unfortunately, they had another physical fitness test, but this time Meng Ran didn’t accompany Song Ciyue.
Song Ciyue’s understanding of this Eight Hundred was refreshed; her respect for the Eight Hundred was like the endless flow of the Yangtze River, ceaseless and unending
Originally, the physical fitness test was supposed to be last week. Song Ciyue started worrying about it from noon and thought about it for almost three hours, from 1 PM until class.
After finally enduring until class, thinking it was time to be free, the teacher announced a “stay of execution”—because some students reported that running 800 meters might affect the upcoming sports meet, which is just a day away, so the teacher agreed to postpone the test for now.
At that time, Song Ciyue really didn’t know whether to feel grateful or worried.
Fortunately, there was no test in this class, so she doesn’t have to worry or be nervous; unfortunately, she was tense for no reason today, and she will have to continue being tense next week. This battle is dragging on a bit too long.
Finally, it was time for class. The intimidating presence of the 800 Master was as formidable as ever, making those who heard it feel a bit weak in the knees.
Even scarier is that it can last a long time, keeping you in a state where you feel something will happen at any moment, but it never does.
The teacher said, “Don’t be scared by it; it’s nothing.”
Students: Not only were we not comforted, but we were also reminded.
The four traditional physical fitness tests: 50 meters, 800 meters, standing long jump, sit-ups.
Of course, this is a girls’ event.
Regarding the standards for physical fitness tests, Song Ciyue also finds it hard to understand why the passing line for these tests keeps getting higher. Shouldn’t the standards be gradually lowered for students who are not fit?
The always-prepared students first did some warm-up exercises and ran a lap around the playground. However, with foresight, they didn’t rush forward but maintained a steady pace, advancing steadily.
It’s all over, and everyone thought we were finally going to do the long-awaited project, but the teacher started asking who hadn’t run the 50 meters last class, and those people went to run the 50 meters first.
Looking at those people, the teacher first guided them to find their rhythm, then familiarized them with the commands, making everyone feel quite anxious.
How to put it, the more she tensed up, the weaker her legs became, and she couldn’t muster any strength at all. She did want to greet her body and encourage it to pull itself together, but her legs clearly had a mind of their own.
After the test, the teacher still hadn’t started. He began the class, reviewing the course content, and I don’t know how much time passed. Everyone’s movements were not very large, and their actions were quite limp.
First, I don’t have the energy, and second, I’m afraid that if I exert myself, I won’t have the energy to run.
After finishing the run, Song Ciyue felt completely elevated, her mind blank, coughing incessantly. When she walked, it felt as if she didn’t belong to this body, her consciousness and body existing in two separate states.
Her mind told her that taking a few more steps would be fine, but her body was very stiff, feeling just a bit better than a child who had just learned to walk. Running a couple of steps seemed to be much better; her whole body was no longer stiff, as if she were walking on clouds.
She sent a message to Xu Qiaoqiao, thinking that since she wasn’t feeling well, she would check in and ask how the last check-up went, but the other side hasn’t replied.
A friend in PE class discussed life with Song Ciyue: “Why do universities have PE classes?”
“Maybe it’s to ensure our all-round development in morality, intelligence, physical fitness, aesthetics, and labor.”
“I think it might be to save our lives. I saw today that people who binge eat and stay up late for long periods have died suddenly. The best way to stay healthy is to exercise more.”
Song Ciyue sighed, “Although there is only one PE class a week, that one class has all the exercise I need for the entire week.”
Recently, for some unknown reason, Song Ciyue has been subtly targeted by Wei Minming, being assigned all the troublesome tasks. She has managed to push most of them away, but there are still some things she has to complete, so she’s quite busy.
The dormitory has never been a place where one can properly handle things; partly because it disturbs others, and partly because it gets disturbed by others.
So she chose a milk tea shop and got busy there.
Before long, someone sat down in front of Song Ciyue, but she didn’t pay attention to who it was, as she did every day. The person was quite quiet, looking down at their phone and not making any noise.
The milk tea in front of her had been sitting there for a while, and suddenly the person across from her actually took her milk tea.
“Sorry, you took the wrong one, this cup is…”
She was stunned when she saw the newcomer. A beam of light fell on the boy, revealing his ink-black tousled hair, a pair of affectionate peach blossom eyes, a high nose bridge, slightly thin lips, fair skin, and a lean figure.
It turns out to be Meng Ran.
“How did you end up here?”
Song Ciyue asked him.
The boy’s peach blossom eyes sparkled with a faint light: “A friend saw you here before, so I came specially to see my busy girlfriend.”
“Why didn’t you call me when you arrived? I made you wait for so long for no reason.”
“Your matters are important, so of course I should be a bit more understanding and not disturb you while you’re busy.”
Song Ciyue recalled the boy’s actions just now and asked him, “What were you planning to do with my milk tea just now?”
“I just wanted to check the temperature and see if I should get another cup. Are we done with our tasks, Yueyue? I calculated today, and it seems someone hasn’t been eating well. How about giving me a chance to have lunch together?”
Song Ciyue smiled and said, “Since you are so warmly inviting me, I guess I have no choice but to give you this opportunity.”
Song Ciyue, overall, is in decent health, but she has two issues: dysmenorrhea and a stomach ailment.
Meng Ran has always been very attentive to these two points, often inviting her to have meals together. It’s both a date and a form of supervision, fearing that he might not take good care of the girl, and also worried that she might be in so much pain that she would end up in tears.
Song Ciyue sighed, “You look just like my best friend; she always does this too.”
“That’s great, it means someone has been taking care of you before, and I’m very relieved.”
“She even said she wanted to introduce you to each other. During the May Day holiday, she said she would come to see me, and then I would introduce you to each other. You’re all the most important people in my life.”
“Sure.”
“Qiaoqiao, how did you know that Senior Wei Min’s crush on the senior from the next department was revealed to the person involved by Senior Song?”
Song Ciyue had just finished the regular meeting and came out to use the restroom. In the stall, she heard this sentence.
“How did you know?”
“The other day when you were talking to Senior Wei Min about this, I happened to pass by and overheard. But weren’t you getting along well with Senior Song? I’ve seen Senior Wei Min causing trouble for Senior Song these past few days.”
Xu Qiaoqiao said softly and weakly, “Huh? I didn’t mean it that way at the time. I just happened to see Ci Yue walking closely with the senior and mentioned something about Wei Min’s likes. Maybe Wei Min misunderstood…”
