Sunny Joy - CHAPTER 30
So that’s how it is. No wonder Wei Min is targeting her. Wei Min’s love for that senior is quite crazy. However, Xu Qiaoqiao described something she didn’t even do.
Song Ciyue isn’t particularly close with the senior either.
The senior already had a girlfriend, and recently there have been rumors that he decided to marry her. Wei Min probably heard Xu Qiaoqiao’s words and thought that it was Song Ciyue’s influence that made the senior decide to get married.
Song Ciyue looked at the message Xu Qiaoqiao had sent her half an hour ago: “Ciyue, I want you to help me with a document. Do you have time?”
She pushed open the partition door, and the two people outside instantly fell silent. Song Ciyue smiled at them and said, “Qiao Qiao, you can’t just say anything. I’m not as familiar with Xue Zhang as you are with your senior. Why would I go looking for him to chat?”
Xu Qiaoqiao’s face turned pale, but now, when Song Ciyue saw her pale face, she no longer felt the same sympathy as before.
“Ci Yue… I… I was just joking earlier…”
“Qiaoqiao, why are you so nervous? You look pale,” she said, reaching out to touch Xu Qiaoqiao’s cheek, feeling her stiffness.
“Qiaoqiao, I might be busy lately and won’t be able to help you with shifts, PPTs, documents, and other tasks anymore. Have you thought about finding someone else?”
Soon after, Song Ciyue left.
During class, the teacher suddenly asked a question: “Do you know how to distinguish between roses and Chinese roses?”
The people offstage were whispering, “Did you know?”
“I don’t know.”
“I don’t know either.”
The teacher saw that no one replied and asked again, “Who gives flowers more often?”
This time, someone was pushed out by everyone: “Wu Jiale!”
“Alright, Wu Jiale, get up. Do you often give roses or Chinese roses?”
Wu Jiale: “Roses, but to me, they look like Chinese rose. However, the shop owner told me they are roses.”
“Your feeling is not wrong; it is indeed a rose. Do you know the difference between a rose and a monthly flower?”
Wu Jiale tentatively asked, “Is the rose relatively large?”
The teacher finally revealed the answer: “You have to look at how many leaves they generally have. Roses have seven, while Chinese roses have nine to eleven.”
“The thorns of this rose are small and numerous. The leaves and branches are light green. So, when you go to buy flowers, what color do you see? Usually, it’s dark green, and the branches are smooth. So, the roses on the market are actually not roses, but a variety of Chinese rose called the perfume rose.”
“Other roses actually don’t look that good; their blooms are quite flat, right? And usually, roses have fewer color varieties, but they are a bit more fragrant than geraniums.”
In the evening, Meng Ran asked her to go out and talk, and she agreed.
The night is beautiful, the road is long, and the dim yellow light falls on the two people.
“Yueyue, when is your friend coming over?”
Song Ciyue felt a bit disappointed: “She had something come up again during the May Day holiday, so she can’t make it. Maybe next time.”
The boy said seriously, “In that case, why don’t you come home with me on May Day? Meet my parents.”
Song Ciyue was somewhat secretly happy, yet still a bit nervous: “I’m worried that I won’t do well and leave a bad impression on them.”
Meng Ran comforted her, “It’s okay, I’m here.”
Song Ciyue arrived at Meng Ran’s house, and everything was quite normal—parents, and a younger sister who was already 15.
Uncle and aunt were very warm towards her, but the younger sister’s attitude was a bit strange, as if her words carried other meanings.
So when she learned that a female relative had come to stay at their home before, and that this younger sister had been sleeping in the same bed and sharing the same blanket with Meng Ran, she finally found the root of the problem.
Song Ciyue didn’t show it, but she was preparing to find a suitable time to ask.
That day, she told her tree hole Chu Xi about it.
“In this situation, aren’t you going to break up? He’s acting all ambiguous with his sister, and they’re not even bl00d relatives. Even if they were, he shouldn’t be doing this!”
Song Ciyue said, “But we have many mutual friends. I don’t know what to do. If they stand by Meng Ran’s side, they probably won’t be my friends anymore.”
“You still have to get along with mutual friends. Even though you two have broken up, you can’t let him affect your relationships with people around you.”
“Just because your relationship with him has ended now, and you finally made a friend, you’re going to give that up? This is nothing like when we were in elementary school. Back then, if you said you were breaking off a friendship, you had to choose sides. But this is different; everyone has their own stance.”
“For your other friends, you two have just switched from one type of relationship to another. You’ve been friends for many years, and your friend cherishes you. Knowing that you would do this, your friend would definitely be heartbroken.”
“Um, let me think about it some more.”
Actually, there aren’t that many mutual friends. Meng Ran’s circle has rejected her, and she doesn’t have that many mutual friends with Meng Ran. She’s saying this just to buy time, to give herself a reason not to break up.
“Yueyue, I can tell you don’t want to break up. Think it over carefully. Once you understand your relationship, we can talk again.”
From that day on, they never talked again.
Song Ciyue often thought back to why her good friend couldn’t understand her? Why did they have to force her? Her heart ached repeatedly.
Throughout the entire class, she couldn’t focus on all, and she couldn’t absorb any of the knowledge points the teacher was explaining. She felt particularly distressed, an uncontrollable kind of distress.
It wasn’t like this before; Chu Xi used to comfort her, not force her.
Clearly, Chu Xi used to be very understanding of her…
Clearly, Chu Xi used to treat her very well…
Clearly, in the past…
Clearly, it could be this way, clearly, it could be that way, but Song Ciyue never mentioned Meng Ran. Countless times she thought “clearly, clearly, clearly,” but in the end, she still didn’t give up on that guy.
Clearly, Chu Xi was just angry at her friend’s infatuation. As long as Song Ciyue apologized, she wouldn’t have to break up to get Chu Xi’s forgiveness and comfort. But she didn’t.
Or perhaps the subconscious overlooked this choice; love really can make people blind.
She might be afraid that Chu Xi would give the most calm and objective evaluation of her feelings, waking her up from the illusion she had created. When it came to choosing between the two, she chose the man she couldn’t let go of.
Later, Song Ciyue inexplicably deleted all of Chu Xi’s contact information.
Later, one day, the boy’s friend called her and said the boy was drunk, so Song Ciyue went to pick him up and booked a room at a nearby hotel.
As soon as she entered the room and closed the door, the boy pressed up against her tightly. She could feel his body heat, the wet kisses with the smell of alcohol, landing on her face and lips.
