Surprise! My Cohabiting Sister is Actually My Fiancée - Chapter 23
After shopping at the mall and returning home, Jun Xizhi stared at the WeChat message from the saleswoman, who had proactively contacted her about how to pick up the clothes, and fell into deep thought.
She had successfully bought the clothes, but how could she give them to Xiao Jian without her finding out?
After pondering for a while, she had an idea and sent a message to the saleswoman:
Could you do me a favor?
The saleswoman, eager to please a major client, replied immediately:
No problem at all, Miss. Just let me know what you need.
Meanwhile, as Jun Xizhi finalized the arrangements for the clothes with the saleswoman, her assistant, after days of fruitless surveillance, finally couldn’t contain himself any longer and sent a message to a WeChat contact labeled “Breadwinner”:
Sales Manager Xiao Zhang of AAAA City: Boss, um… I know this might be a bit much to ask, but I still want to ask… well, um… iHonest and Simple.jpg
Breadwinner: What is it? Just get to the point.
Sales Manager Xiao Zhang of AAAA City: About you and Sui Xin… when are you going to explain things?
Breadwinner: Oh, I accidentally forgot.
Sales Manager Xiao Zhang of AAAA City: Accidentally forgot?
Breadwinner: I’ll explain soon.
Sales Manager Xiao Zhang of AAAA City: How soon is “soon”?
Breadwinner: No rush.
Sales Manager Xiao Zhang of AAAA City: How soon is “no rush”?
bBoss/b: Just a few more days.
bSales Manager Xiao Zhang of AAAA City/b: Boss, I never realized you had a procrastination problem before.
bSales Manager Xiao Zhang of AAAA City/b: Why do you seem so reluctant to explain?
bBoss/b: I never said that.
bSales Manager Xiao Zhang of AAAA City/b: You didn’t say it, but the sentiment is clear between the lines.
After some back-and-forth, they finally decided to have the assistant privately explain the situation.
Jun Xizhi knew, of course, that while teasing was fine, she couldn’t let everyone remain confused indefinitely.
bAssistant/b: Yes, exactly! That’s what I meant.
Otherwise, if they ever did get together, explaining the timeline later would be a nightmare.
bAssistant/b: ?
Meanwhile, in various small group chats, the long-observing onlookers and the poor soul who had accidentally sent the message—now awaiting judgment—finally received the final verdict.
After a brief moment of disappointment, they quickly reached a consensus and rekindled their hopes.
It’s okay. It’s not official yet, but it’s only a matter of time. Daily pick-ups and drop-offs, roses, and she’s gorgeous—anyone would say yes!
For now, these two still have a good chance. Let’s wait for good news.
bGo, Elder Sister! Win over the Boss!/b
Jian Suixin worked five days a week with two days off, leaving her with plenty of free time. When she had nothing to do, she would take on side jobs to earn extra money. On Sunday evening, after returning from work, she found Jun Xizhi had already prepared dinner.
The moment she stepped inside, seeing her elder sister sitting at the dining table with a warm smile, waiting for her, felt like pure bliss.
As they ate, they chatted casually. Jun Xizhi asked, “Are you free tonight?”
“Yes, I’m off tonight,” Jian Suixin replied, praising Jun Xizhi’s cooking skills. “Is there something you wanted to do, Elder Sister?”
“How about we go out for a walk?”
“Sure, I’m bored anyway.” Jian Suixin was always happy to go out with her sister. She added casually, “Do you like shopping?”
“Mm, I quite enjoy it,” Jun Xizhi mumbled between sips of her porridge.
“Great! Then we should go out more often.”
“What about you? Do you like it too?” Jun Xizhi teased.
“Well, that’s a tricky question,” Jian Suixin said, twirling her chopsticks. She grinned as she ate a piece of meat Jun Xizhi fed her before answering, “The point isn’t the shopping itself, it’s shopping with you, Elder Sister. That’s why I like it.”
Jun Xizhi’s hand paused mid-air as she was picking up food. A soft smile curved her lips as she murmured, “Mm, I like it too.”
After dinner, the two returned to their familiar shopping mall.
Jun Xizhi had requested to come here again, and Jian Suixin had no objections. She always followed her elder sister’s wishes.
As they chatted and browsed, Jun Xizhi intentionally led them toward a familiar storefront.
“Want to check out that store?” Jun Xizhi pointed to a nearby boutique.
Jian Suixin glanced over, puzzled. “Didn’t we already go there yesterday? I remember spending the most time there. Let’s check out the one next door first, then come back here.”
With that, she took her sister’s hand and headed toward the adjacent shop.
As they passed the boutique Jun Xizhi had mentioned, Jian Suixin couldn’t help but glance at the familiar brand logo. Just as she was about to move on, a saleswoman suddenly rushed out and grabbed her hand.
Jian Suixin, who had been about to head next door, was utterly bewildered. ???
Before she could ask what was happening, the saleswoman exclaimed excitedly, “Congratulations, Miss!”
Jian Suixin stared at the woman holding her hand, completely bewildered. “Congratulations for what?”
The saleswoman signaled to a colleague, who handed over a red congratulatory banner with a beaming smile.
“Congratulations, Miss, on being our 88,888th customer this year! We’re delighted to present you with an exclusive clothing gift set, all custom-tailored! It’s already prepared for you—just come inside to collect it.”
Jian Suixin: “Um, but we haven’t bought anything.”
The saleswoman’s smile faltered for a moment before she quickly recovered. “That’s no problem at all! We consider all visitors customers, even if they don’t make a purchase.”
Noticing the surprised glances from nearby people, Jian Suixin hesitated.
Not only had they not bought anything, but she realized she was standing in the middle of the aisle, not even inside the store.
“Come on, Miss, don’t be shy!” The saleswoman insisted, grabbing her hand and pulling her into the store without another word.
As Jian Suixin was nearly dragged inside, she quickly grabbed Jun Xizhi’s arm and whispered, “Elder Sister, usually they force you to buy things. Is this… is this forced poverty alleviation?”
Jun Xizhi sighed inwardly, wondering why these people were being so dramatic. She maintained a polite smile and replied, “Maybe… they just think we’re too poor.”
