Surviving the Game as a Zombie - Chapter 22
Tang Yu had no idea what Song Lengzhu was thinking. While muttering to herself that she was doomed, she observed the group’s movements.
The fate of Jin Ye and Xiao Li was unknown; she didn’t even know if they were still alive, so she couldn’t possibly count on them to come to her rescue.
She cursed Song Lengzhu a thousand times over in her mind. From their past few encounters, she had gotten a handle on Song Lengzhu’s personality. The woman was incredibly powerful and her methods were ruthless. She could have easily given her enemies a quick death but insisted on torturing them, instilling fear in others.
Yet, looking at her face, you couldn’t see any of that sinister nature; she just seemed like a cold, aloof beauty.
Tang Yu strongly suspected that the shot that had killed Shen Xu was fired by Song Lengzhu. At this thought, Tang Yu couldn’t help but shiver.
If she managed to escape this time, she would dedicate herself to completing missions and accumulating points. Once her physical abilities were stronger, she would definitely find Song Lengzhu and get her revenge.
Before she could finish her inner rant, Tang Yu felt a sudden chill behind her head. She instinctively ducked her head to the side and swung her knife around.
The teammate from Song Lengzhu’s squad named Xiao Qi had somehow snuck up behind Tang Yu and was now attempting to capture her alive.
The tip of Tang Yu’s knife grazed the other woman’s clothes, but it was clear that Xiao Qi was also extremely capable. She took a step back, raised her gun, and fired at Tang Yu’s leg.
The fact that she wasn’t aiming for a vital spot surprised Tang Yu, but she had no time to dwell on it. She immediately reached for Xiao Qi’s arm, her right hand bringing the knife around in a swift follow-up.
But the knife stabbed nothing but air. Xiao Qi had vanished.
Another teleportation ability? Tang Yu’s eyes widened as she searched for where Xiao Qi might reappear, but a quick scan revealed she hadn’t materialized anywhere else.
Instead, the other two female team members closed in on her. They looked like twins, with similar features and identical twin ponytails, flanking Tang Yu from the left and right.
Tang Yu wanted to cry but had no tears. It was obvious that Song Lengzhu’s teammates were all highly capable. In her previous encounters, she had never faced their coordinated assault head-on, managing to save her skin only because she could run fast.
But now, there was nowhere to run.
Tang Yu dodged behind the other side of the sculpture and began circling it, hoping to use its large form to block the twins’ attacks.
But for some reason, she felt another rush of air behind her. Tang Yu dodged sideways again and saw that it was Xiao Qi who had reappeared. This time, only her upper body was visible; her lower half was completely transparent.
Good grief, she thought. So Xiao Qi’s ability isn’t teleportation, it’s invisibility.
How am I supposed to fight this!
After being ambushed twice, Tang Yu started to figure it out. The instant Xiao Qi attacked, she would become visible. Perhaps this was the drawback of her invisibility ability.
But even so, she might be able to fend off one or two sneak attacks, but she couldn’t possibly dodge a third.
Cold sweat beaded on her forehead. Just then, the game panel emitted another “ding.” Unlike the previous notification sounds, this one was more urgent, almost like a countdown timer.
This was the first time Tang Yu had heard a notification like this, and her intuition told her she needed to open the panel and look. Steeling herself, she tapped open the game panel while continuing to circle the sculpture.
It was a confirmation message, with only five seconds remaining on the timer.
Tang Yu didn’t have time for a detailed look. She gave it a quick scan, and the words “Activate Ability” caught the corner of her eye. At that exact moment, the countdown hit one. Her heart leaped, and she frantically tapped “Confirm.”
As for what exactly she had confirmed, she had no time to see before the interface vanished.
