Sweet Kiss - Chapter 1.1
CHAPTER 1.1: “The Transfer Student”
In the sweltering heat of August, the air in Qinghui City was filled with restless energy. The streets were bustling with pedestrians and traffic.
It was the start of the school year, and there were two big red banners hanging at the entrance of Hengshan First High School.
One banner said, “Warmly Welcome All New Students,” and the other one said, “Congratulations to Our Student Bai Tingzhou for Advancing in the National High School Math Competition.”
At this time, new students were arriving continuously, some carrying large bags, but everyone stopped to take a look at the red banner. The five big characters of “Bai Tingzhou” caught their attention.
In a place where top students gather, standing out like this attracted a lot of attention.
Meanwhile, in another building, the third-year students were dreading the upcoming class placement exam.
“Classmates, important news!!” Xu Mu rushed back to the classroom from the teacher’s office, bringing the latest news.
The students glanced up from their books, saw Xu Mu sweating at the door, and went back to solving problems, showing no interest in his news.
Only Qi Jinyang, who was sitting by the aisle, responded, “What’s the news? Tell us.”
Without looking up, Qi Jinyang received a grateful look from Xu Mu, as if he had seen a savior.
Actually, the students weren’t really uninterested, but Xu Mu’s news was often unreliable.
Having been deceived many times, the students were immune to his news.
Seeing everyone’s lack of interest, Xu Mu scratched his head awkwardly and then said, “Believe me, this time the news is real. Mr. Wang personally came to the office and told Ai Jie!” He then eagerly mimicked what he had seen and heard.
This time, everyone looked up, not because they believed him, but because a little skit was a nice break from their endless problem-solving.
In the afternoon sunlight, the rays climbed into the room, merging with the air, making everyone feel drowsy.
But the air conditioning was set low, so everyone was shivering instead of feeling sleepy.
Everyone looked at Xu Mu standing at the podium.
Xu Mu said mysteriously, “Guess what I heard in the office?” The students looked at him with a “get to the point” expression.
Xu Mu waved his hand helplessly and said, “I heard Mr. Wang and Ai Jie complaining. A girl wants to transfer directly to our class, but Mr. Wang said it wasn’t allowed. Before he could finish, he went out for a phone call. But I sneaked a look at Ai Jie’s phone, and the girl is really beautiful!”
“How beautiful?” a student asked. “Is she more beautiful than Song Wannin?”
At this, everyone looked at Xu Mu. In high school, pretty girls always attracted attention.
Qi Jinyang glanced at the student who asked.
“Hey, they’re not the same type at all, you fool,” Xu Mu retorted, and after thinking for a moment, he said, “According to the class monitor next door, she looks like a delicate doll!”
The class monitor next door loved reading romance novels, and because she and Xu Mu were often called to the office to grade papers, they became familiar with each other. Today, they happened to meet again.
At this, the classroom instantly became lively. The students started talking all at once. Hengshan First High School’s science class was hard to get into unless you ranked in the top 36.
Seeing a new student wanting to transfer to their class was rare, and this girl was the second one after a certain top student.
Not only was the new girl confident enough to transfer to the top class, but she was also beautiful. The students were instantly interested.
Xu Mu was quickly surrounded by his classmates, asking for information about the new student. Just moments ago, Xu Mu was ignored, but now he was the center of attention.
Meanwhile, the “doll-like” girl was sitting in the office. Her aunt was chatting with the head of the education office while drinking tea.
“It seems Hengshan First High School really deserves its reputation as a top school in Qinghui City.” The aunt seemed to be praising the school but with a hint of disdain. She took a sip of tea and smiled, “I didn’t expect that with Sui Sui’s grades, she could only get into the lowest class.” After saying this, she glanced at the girl beside her.
The head of the education office adjusted his glasses and smiled, “What are you talking about? It’s just that our school has strict rules.” Behind his glasses, his eyes showed a sharp intelligence.
While speaking, he glanced at the girl sitting beside him.
The girl appeared to be around fifteen or sixteen, with fair skin and delicate features. Her bright eyes sparkled, making her look very charming.
The Director of the Guidance Office sighed silently in his heart, realizing that this girl must come from a well-off family.
The day before yesterday, he had received a call from his superior saying that a student wanted to transfer to Hengshan First High School and specifically requested to join Class One. He was asked to handle it.
Transferring to their school wasn’t unusual; as long as the requirements were met, entry was possible. But requesting to join the top science class was rare—this girl would be the second one to do so.
After receiving the notice, he investigated the situation. Seeing her previous school’s details gave him a headache. Most students at Saint Philip International School were from noble families, but some were wealthy children used to being arrogant. If a spoiled young lady suddenly joined, it could cause chaos. However, he couldn’t afford to offend someone with her background.
Thus, the matter was put on hold since it couldn’t be resolved quickly.
To his surprise, the new student’s parents contacted him, asking for help to settle her in.
He didn’t agree, but the girl’s parents reached out to him directly, putting him in a difficult position.
Regardless, he had to keep things stable for now.
Thus, the current scene unfolded: two sly foxes sitting at the tea table, exchanging polite words while sharing knowing smiles.
“Mr. Wang, if I remember correctly, isn’t there an exam for the third-year students the day after tomorrow?” Li Yansui, standing nearby, saw the subtle struggle between the two and couldn’t help but remind them.
“Yes,” the Guidance Director said, regaining his composure. “This exam’s results will be used for class placement.”
He emphasized the words “class placement.”
