The moment Bai Tingzhou finished speaking, all the lights in the hall suddenly turned on.
The bright lights were so strong that no one could open their eyes right away.

At the back of the hall, Li Yansui had watched Bai Tingzhou clear her name. Her eyes felt sore.
When the lights came on, she quickly covered her eyes. When she put her hand down, she noticed the wet feeling in her palm.

That’s when she realized she had started crying without knowing it.

As the students got used to the bright light, they quickly looked at the two people in the middle of the drama.

The “male lead” looked ashamed and angry. The “female lead” looked pale and helpless.
Everyone started whispering.

“Damn, I actually believed that girl back then!”

“I knew it. Li Yansui is so pretty; how could she do something like that?”

“Honestly, Qiao Chen was always shady. That girl is so desperate.”

“Scumbag guy and clingy girl—what a perfect match.”

Qiao Chen heard the whispers and felt humiliated, but it was too late to fix anything. He stared at Bai Tingzhou with hate in his eyes.

Bai Tingzhou looked down and saw Qiao Chen’s hateful gaze. He found it funny. He calmly glanced back at him—a clown, he thought.

Qiao Chen couldn’t hurt Bai Tingzhou, but the harsh words from the crowd pushed him to the edge. He suddenly turned around and slapped Zhang Xi hard across the face.

The loud slap shocked everyone. No one moved or spoke at first—until someone yelled, “Dude, is this guy crazy?!”

Qiao Chen pointed at Zhang Xi and shouted,

“You b1tch! Why the hell did you set me up?!”

Zhang Xi heard all the awful things people said and Qiao Chen’s yelling. She was stunned by the slap. Her face showed a clear red handprint. She covered her face and started crying.

Because of their long relationship, Zhang Xi was scared to fight back. She just accepted it quietly and cried silently with her hand over her cheek. She looked so pitiful. But Qiao Chen didn’t feel sorry at all.

Instead, he kept shouting, “Say something! You slut! You were always chasing after me…”

He wanted to say more, but the school leaders had already called security. The guards came in and pulled the two apart.

The school leaders looked very angry. They couldn’t believe Qiao Chen would act like that.
They walked up to him and said coldly, “Qiao Chen, do you know what will happen because of what you said?”

They were giving him a chance to stop, but Qiao Chen didn’t understand.
He was too worked up and only wanted to blame others.

“Principal, this b1tch and those people planned to ruin me! I didn’t do anything!”

The principal’s face turned even darker.

A student hitting a girl in front of everyone at the opening ceremony— this wasn’t just bold. It was a challenge to the whole school’s rules and respect for teachers.

Bai Tingzhou stood on stage, watching the mess he had caused, and found it all funny.

If Qiao Chen had just understood what the principal meant and apologized, maybe things would have been easier for him, but he was stupid.

The school’s opening ceremony was always live-streamed. Every year, the number of viewers ranked high across many schools.
This year, because of Li Yansui and the “homewrecker” drama, even more people were watching.

Now it was a complete embarrassment.

The school leaders were so mad they wanted to throw Qiao Chen out immediately. Luckily, the teacher in charge of the livestream had quick hands. The moment Qiao Chen slapped someone, the stream was cut. But as expected, the internet had already exploded.

“You two, come to my office!” the principal shouted, ending the chaos.

The students slowly went back to their classes, still talking about what just happened.

While Qiao Chen was still trying to defend himself, Bai Tingzhou had already left the stage. He couldn’t wait to find Li Yansui.

Qi Jinyang handed him a bottle of water with an excited look.

“Damn, man! You really cleared her name in front of everyone.” He slapped Bai Tingzhou on the shoulder.
“You know how shocked I was? I even recorded it!”

He had secretly started filming as soon as Bai Tingzhou got on stage, making sure to get the full video.

Bai Tingzhou took a few sips of water, easing the dryness in his throat.

“It wasn’t really about clearing her name,” he said calmly. “I just showed everyone the truth. She didn’t do anything wrong.”

“You’re a real man!” Qi Jinyang said, clearly impressed.

After finishing the water, Bai Tingzhou threw the bottle in the trash and walked out.

Qi Jinyang called after him, “Hey! Where are you going?”

The wind blew hard as Bai Tingzhou walked. He rubbed his eyes and kept going. He wanted to find Li Yansui to tell her that everything was okay now. That she didn’t need to worry anymore.

As he walked past the sycamore tree under the rooftop, a small stone suddenly fell next to him, making him jump.

He looked up and saw Li Yansui leaning on the railing.

When she saw him, she smiled brightly. The wind blew her long hair into her face, but she still saw Bai Tingzhou clearly.

She waved at him cheerfully. His heart felt warm.

He quickly went up to the rooftop. She was still lying there.

“Why did you help me?” She asked, eyes closed, smiling at the peace around her.

He stopped beside her.

Their distance became smaller. He gently placed his hand on her cheek.

She felt the warmth and slowly opened her eyes.

“Why were you crying?” he asked.

She smiled.

“Because I’m happy.”

“Huh?”

“Just now, I saw a little dog getting bullied. But her owner helped her get revenge. So I’m very happy.”

He chuckled when he heard that.

She looked straight into his eyes, very serious.

They looked at each other for a long time.

“So… are you my little dog?” he asked while rubbing her head.

“Woof woof.”

Her voice was soft and sweet.

They stayed there together for a long time.

“Let’s go,” she said as the sky started to darken. She was tired of standing.

“Okay.” He held her hand as they left the rooftop.

By then, the school was already empty. It was completely quiet.
