Sweet Kiss - Chapter 5.1
Ten Minutes Ago.
Bai Tingzhou walked into the classroom from the back door, looking annoyed. The moment he stepped in, Qi Jinyang turned his head excitedly, his eyes lighting up when he saw the breakfast in Bai Tingzhou’s hand.
“Zhou-ge, I’ve been waiting for you forever!”
Bai Tingzhou glanced at the demerit sheet on Qi Jinyang’s desk but said nothing. He simply placed the breakfast on the table and started working on his test paper.
Qi Jinyang was confused but obediently unwrapped the food. As he took a bite of the meat bun he had been craving, he felt instantly satisfied. However, he could sense the low pressure around Bai Tingzhou. The mood didn’t seem too good… Did something happen again?
Sneaking a glance, Qi Jinyang saw Bai Tingzhou still focused on his test paper. Deciding not to disturb him, he quietly played on his phone while eating breakfast.
As long as he stayed silent, the anger wouldn’t be directed at him. That was the plan.
Bai Tingzhou remained completely absorbed in his test paper, not looking up once. Even when Qi Jinyang finished his last bite, Bai Tingzhou showed no reaction.
After wiping his hands with a pink-packaged wet wipe from his drawer, Qi Jinyang reached for his soy milk—
Bang!
Xu Mu burst through the door in a rush, panting. “Guys! Big news!!”
Qi Jinyang found this amusing. The freshmen had only been here for two days, and this was already the second time Xu Mu had “major news.” At this rate, wouldn’t there be something exciting every day?
He leaned back, ready to enjoy the show, and teased, “Oh? What’s up this time, walking news bulletin?”
Ignoring the joke, Xu Mu grabbed a cup of warm water, taking a big gulp to soothe his dry throat from all the running and talking. After finally catching his breath, he waggled his eyebrows at Qi Jinyang.
“I just passed by Class 5. They’re arguing—loudly!”
Bai Tingzhou’s hand froze. Class 5?
The other students, eager for gossip, immediately crowded around.
“Who’s fighting who?”
“Was it bad? Spill it!”
Qi Jinyang also noticed Bai Tingzhou’s reaction and pressed further, “What kind of argument?”
Xu Mu lowered his voice dramatically. “It’s that bunch of gossipy troublemakers… and the girl who transferred in yesterday. But from what I heard, those guys started it. They were saying some really nasty things—”
Before he could finish, Bai Tingzhou interrupted, “Are they still arguing?”
His expression darkened.
Xu Mu flinched but nodded hesitantly. “Y-yeah…”
Bai Tingzhou grabbed Qi Jinyang’s demerit sheet and gestured for him to follow.
Qi Jinyang had barely taken a sip of his soy milk and was nowhere near full, but now he had to leave? He muttered a few complaints but obediently followed behind Bai Tingzhou.
The rest of Class 1 didn’t understand what was happening, but sensing the drama unfolding, they eagerly trailed after them.
By the time Bai Tingzhou, Qi Jinyang, and the Class 1 students reached Class 5’s door, chaos had already erupted inside. The students who had been chatting earlier were now gathered at the entrance, watching.
Then, the crowd suddenly quieted.
The moment they saw Bai Tingzhou and Qi Jinyang, everyone froze. Some even held their breath.
Why were they here?
Bai Tingzhou and Qi Jinyang weren’t just regular students—they were the student council president and vice president. Normally, they would have stepped down in their third year, but the teachers had asked them to stay an extra week to help transition the new leadership.
They had no objections. That meant the routine inspections for this week were still their responsibility.
But more importantly—
These two weren’t just student council leaders; they were the school’s top heartthrobs. With their good looks and charismatic presence, they had been dominating the school’s self-made Most Popular Students ranking for years.
And now, these two stars had suddenly shown up at Class 5’s door… followed by a whole group of Class 1 students, who should have been sitting quietly in their classroom, focused on their test papers.
What was going on?!
Very soon, everyone understood—Bai Tingzhou was here to back up Li Yansui, while the rest were just here for the drama.
It was surprising. The students from Class 1, who were usually seen as bookworms, had actually come to watch the commotion. As word spread, more and more people joined in.
This entire building was for third-year students, and after being buried under study pressure for so long, a bit of excitement was naturally irresistible.
Qi Jinyang didn’t say anything. Standing behind Bai Tingzhou, he quietly pieced together the full story. He shrugged, finding the situation amusing. Those guys from Class 5 were pretty bold—insulting Bai Tingzhou in public? Were they tired of living?
Then, he saw Li Yansui step out of the classroom. Without a word, he took the clipboard from Bai Tingzhou’s hand, ready to wrap things up.
“What are you all doing?!”
A sharp voice rang through the entire building.
The moment they saw Director Wang standing at the office door, the crowd scattered like birds. Everyone rushed back to their classrooms, and within seconds, the hallways fell silent. The sound of morning reading echoed from every classroom, as if nothing had ever happened.
The students from Class 1 had been the fastest. The second Director Wang stepped out, they had already sprinted back. Now, their classroom was dead silent, with everyone dutifully working on their test papers.
As Director Wang passed by Class 1, he nodded in satisfaction before stopping in front of Qi Jinyang. With a surprised look, he asked, “Why are you here? Shouldn’t you be working on your test paper?”
“Sir, student council routine inspection,” Qi Jinyang replied calmly.
Director Wang blinked. “Student council?”
“Yes, this week it’s still our responsibility. Before stepping down, we want to complete our duties properly. We believe in finishing what we start!” Qi Jinyang stood straight and spoke with conviction, saying exactly what Director Wang liked to hear.
“Good! That’s the right attitude!” Director Wang patted his shoulder approvingly. “Come to my office after class to get back the comic book I confiscated from you last time.”
With that, he turned toward Class 5.
But then—he caught a whiff of breakfast in the air.
His expression darkened instantly. “Who allowed you to eat breakfast in the classroom? Qi Jinyang, points deducted!”
Already deducted, sir, Qi Jinyang thought to himself. But outwardly, he nodded and responded obediently, “Yes, sir.”
The students in Class 5 had been pretending to be invisible ever since Director Wang appeared. Now, they shrank even further into their seats, trying to avoid notice.
Seeing no one dare to speak, Director Wang huffed and stormed off.
Only after he left did everyone finally breathe again.
Qi Jinyang was still standing at the doorway, making the Class 5 students tense up again.
He ignored their nervous stares and casually glanced around the room. Then, with a fake smile, he asked, “If someone asks where Li Yansui went, what will you say?”
“I… I don’t know…”
“T-to the… nurse’s office…”
“Yeah, she went to the nurse’s office.”
“…”
Satisfied, Qi Jinyang nodded. Good. At least they know what’s smart.
“Alright. Student council inspection complete. Sorry to bother you.”
With that, he shut the door and moved on to the next classroom.
