Sylvie, the Slave Girl (Lily Futa) - Chapter 23 (pt. 2)
The weather looked nice today.
The sky shone pretty and bright.
At noon, the sunlight mixed with a breeze, somehow refreshing.
Wei Qing felt her whole body washed clean, and her mood improved.
She touched her once-again full wallet and felt satisfied.
Wei Qing went to the dessert shop and bought two takeout coffees.
She chatted a bit with this almost-colleague staff.
“Why do you work again?” Wei Qing asks.
She looked at her with some pity.
The freckled girl Tina sighed for a while and handed her the coffee.
“No choice, my colleague is still recovering at home… Workers live like this, very tough,” Tina says.
Wei Qing thought for a bit, took out paper and pen, and wrote an address for her.
She smoothed her hair and smiled.
“Tell your colleague to find me at this address. If she’s sick, don’t stay home to heal alone… I help, prescribe some medicine, so she recovers soon and takes your shift,” Wei Qing says earnestly.
Business stayed slow, but Wei Qing chose to pull in customers.
She couldn’t really let this clinic get listed, right?
Wei Qing handed one coffee to Sylvie.
After leaving the dessert shop, Sylvie looked at her and asked softly.
“Master, is that person Tina?” Sylvie asks.
She looked so familiar, and this morning, Wei Qing even said her name…
Wei Qing felt surprised for a moment.
“How do you know? She made that cake the day before yesterday. But, you forgot again. Don’t call me master outside,” Wei Qing says.
Sylvie paused and looked at her. “Sister?” she says.
Her voice lacked its usual softness, instead sounding calm with a clear tone.
But… how could it not be pleasant in another way?
Wei Qing sipped her coffee and curved her lips.
She patted Sylvie’s head, and a smile appeared on her face.
“Okay, you’re sensible. I love hearing this,” Wei Qing says.
Sylvie looked at the smile on her face and felt dazed.
The woman’s hand rubbed her head, then left casually yet affectionately.
Sylvie couldn’t help but curve her eyes.
She felt some happiness in her heart again.
They strolled to the farmer’s market.
Even on a weekday, the street bustled.
Wei Qing liked this place a lot.
Her last visit left a strong impression.
They bought some snacks for lunch casually.
She didn’t expect to meet an unexpected person here.
Wei Qing squinted her eyes, took two quick steps, and patted his shoulder.
“Hey!” Wei Qing says.
The man jumped, startled, and turned around fast.
A familiar fur coat and hat, an ordinary face that looked somewhat sly.
“Ah… Doctor, what a coincidence, meeting you here,” the man says.
He relaxed after seeing her face and sighed long.
Wei Qing felt surprised.
“Why are you here?” she asks.
“Ah… here’s the thing. I got new stock from other cities recently. I came here to sell some stuff,” the man says.
He smiled and rubbed his hands.
Wei Qing thought for a while.
Some old memories came up.
She recalled browsing online posts while playing this game.
Some mentioned meeting this merchant again at the farmer’s market and buying things from him.
Among them, scar-removal medicine seemed available.
Wei Qing got excited back then and jumped into the game.
She found she could meet him, but only buy drinks and such.
She suspected different versions lacked scar-removal medicine, losing that feature.
“Do you have scar-removal medicine?” Wei Qing asked directly.
The merchant looked at her, surprised.
“Yes, oh, you brought this little one too… Forgive me, I didn’t recognize her at first. Looks like you treat her well,” he says.
The merchant put on a familiar smile and glanced at the person behind her, as if just noticing her.
Someone tugged Wei Qing’s clothes lightly.
Wei Qing turned back, surprised, and saw Sylvie gripping her clothes tightly.
The girl’s thin fingers tensed.
Her sleeve showed some red scars on her wrist.
Her head lowered, looking nervous and timid.
Wei Qing hesitated for a moment, patted her arm, and pinched her cheek.
Her voice sounded gentle, softening to comfort.
“Wait, real quick,” she says.
Wei Qing turned around, got to business, and turned cold.
“Alright, skip the rest. How much?” she says.
The merchant, “…”
