Teasing the Strawberry-Flavored Baby Alpha (ABO, GL) - Chapter 30
Chapter 30
Just as everyone was at a standstill, the alarm call that Lu Ningwan had dialed connected. Lu Ningwan explained the situation over the phone and gave the address.
The person on the phone revealed a hint of impatience in their tone. “Look, you say there’s no actual harm, yet you’re calling the police? It’s a major holiday—can’t you handle this kind of minor squabble yourselves? From what I just heard, it sounds like a family matter.”
“Calling the police is a right every citizen has. If I report this today and you don’t respond, you’ll still be held accountable if something happens.” Lu Ningwan had not expected such a response to her call.
“We didn’t say we wouldn’t respond. Just wait a bit.” With that, the on-duty officer hung up.
Lu Ningwan’s phone rang again. This time, it was a call from Shen Xian.
As soon as the call connected, Shen Xian’s anxious voice came through. “Ningwan, how are you? Did they touch you? Don’t be afraid—your mommy, I, and Tiantian are all on our way. I’ve also reported it to the city police. We’ll be there with them in about twenty minutes.”
“Mommy, I’m fine. I just called the police too—the ones coming are probably the local town officers. Don’t worry; they won’t dare touch me. I… I just miss you all a little.” Lu Ningwan’s voice grew softer as she spoke. After talking with the person she trusted most, the grievances in her heart surged forth like bamboo shoots after rain. But the people standing before her were not good, so Lu Ningwan did not want to show weakness to them. She held back her tears with sheer effort.
“Alright, Ningwan, protect yourself. Mommy will be there soon.”
While Shen Xian spoke, Shen Tian had already scooted over and taken Shen Xian’s phone. “Little Lu Sister, don’t be afraid. I’ll come protect you. I’ll chase all the bad guys away. Wait for me.” Tears still clung to Shen Tian’s face as she spoke. When she heard that Lu Ningwan was in trouble, she had been utterly terrified and wished she could fly over to protect her.
“I know. Don’t worry—they won’t dare touch me now. I’ve already called the police,” Lu Ningwan explained, fearing Shen Tian would worry.
“Alright, Little Lu Sister, don’t hang up. We’ll be there right away. I’ll keep you company on the phone,” Shen Tian said with concern.
“Okay, as long as Tiantian stays with me on the phone, I’m not afraid.”
“Ningwan, you’ve alerted CEO Shen and the others too? Sigh, there’s really no need to make such a big fuss about this.” Lu Ming’s heart turned cold. The relationship he had maintained with the Shen family for years was likely broken now. All he could do was pray that Lu Ningwan was not important to the Shen family, or that they found the matter too shameful to publicize. Otherwise, they truly had no recourse.
About ten minutes later, two male officers arrived from the town in a public vehicle. One of them, looking somewhat impatient, shouted loudly toward the people in the courtyard. “Who called the police? Who was molested? Come over here quickly and give a statement.”
The man’s voice was very loud, and Lu Ningwan felt a faint discomfort in her heart. “It was me. Lu Deyu and Lu Dezhou just tried to molest me. I’ve recorded everything that happened.”
“Are you all family? Did those two boys you mentioned touch you? Was there any actual violation?” The officer jotted notes in his book.
“They exposed their lower bodies and verbally insulted me,” Lu Ningwan said urgently.
The young officer furrowed his brow. “So there’s no substantial harm, then. I see you’re all family—why not discuss it again? If we can resolve it through coordination, let’s do that. It’s the big holiday; it’s not good for the kids to end up with a record.” The young officer said this, but in truth, it was because he wanted to avoid the hassle. Settling it privately saved them a lot of follow-up work, and they had seen many such cases—most ended up resolved behind closed doors.
When Lu Ming heard the officer say this, a faint smile immediately appeared on his face. He said to Lu Ningwan, “Ningwan, even the officer agrees. Let’s just discuss it. We’re family—let’s not ruin the harmony. Look, Grandma is so old; don’t let her catch a chill.”
“I don’t think this is something we can negotiate and resolve. Officer, though I don’t understand the law, I know what they did was definitely wrong.” Lu Ningwan looked at the two officers and said.
“What do you know? You’re not even an adult yet. Fine, have an adult come give a statement. Just educate those two boys properly from now on.” The younger officer spoke impatiently. It was New Year’s Eve, and they had not wanted to respond in the first place.
Of course, the police mostly served the people, but there were inevitably some who muddled through or just went through the motions to clock out. As Lu Ningwan thought about it, she realized she had encountered the latter type. A chill spread through her entire body. What if she had no Shen family behind her? What if she had always lived with her uncle and the others?
Would that mean that if those two scum had actually molested her, no one would help her—instead, they would just hush it up? The mere thought made Lu Ningwan feel cold all over, with a severe headache.
She stood to the side, watching the two officers and her uncle beside them with cold eyes. The others had also breathed a sigh of relief. Lu Dezhou no longer felt any pain by now. He even smirked provocatively at Lu Ningwan, thinking himself clever. As expected, the family would hush it up, just as he had thought.
Lu Zixuan looked at Lu Ningwan like she was a joke. What a waste of time calling the police had been. She had not even finished her dinner yet.
Lu Zixuan glared fiercely at Lu Ningwan, then turned to Zhang Ruohua. “Mom, you all can stay here and keep Little Lu company in the cold wind. I’m going inside to eat.”
Under the support of Lu Peng and Liu Xiangping, the old lady and her younger brother also made their way into the house one after another.
Liu Xiangping pulled her precious son along and glared at Lu Ningwan. “Ungrateful girl, stay out here by yourself then.”
The officers had not even left yet, but the people inside the house had already resumed their eating and drinking. Lu Ningwan saw that Lu Ming had finished his statement, and the two officers were packing up to leave. Lu Ming followed along to see them off.
Lu Ningwan stood in the courtyard, feeling cold on her body, and her heart felt even more oppressed, unable to catch a breath.
While Lu Ming exchanged pleasantries with the officers, the sound of police sirens soon came from outside the courtyard again. People outside the old lady’s house were already peering curiously, and when they saw two more vehicles plus two police cars arrive, they grew even more curious about what had happened at the old lady’s place.
Five officers got out of the cars, along with Shen Tian and the rest of their group.
The group entered the old lady’s courtyard. Lu Ming and the two officers exchanged bewildered looks, not understanding how another batch of police had arrived.
“Comrade, this village is under our unit’s jurisdiction. We’ve already handled this case. Where are you from?” the slightly older officer asked.
“We’re from the city bureau. The city bureau leadership sent us to handle this case. You’ve handled it? Then let us see the statement.” The lead from the city side was a deputy captain. He looked at the two town officers and said.
The two officers glanced at each other, hesitated, and handed over the notebook. “Heh, this Little Lu Ningwan already provided us with detailed video evidence, and you wrote it up as a family dispute? It seems your town has issues with laziness and neglect. I’ll report all this to the superiors.” The deputy captain glanced at the two town officers and said.
When Lu Ming saw the new officers and Shen Xian, his face turned pale with fright. He did not know how to explain.
On the other side, Shen Tian ran straight toward Lu Ningwan from afar and threw her arms around her. “Little Lu Sister, don’t be afraid. Your little knight has arrived. No one can hurt you. I’ll protect you—wah wah wah~” Shen Tian started crying even before Lu Ningwan did as she spoke.
When Lu Ningwan saw that her mother, mommy, and Tiantian had all come, she had felt like crying too, but Shen Tian’s hugging and sobbing declaration of protection made her laugh instead.
“Alright, I’m fine. Now that my little knight is here, I’m not afraid.” Lu Ningwan patted Shen Tian’s back to soothe her while pulling a tissue from her pocket with her other hand to wipe Shen Tian’s tears.
“Mm-hm, I can’t cry. I still have to protect Little Lu Sister.” As if remembering something, Shen Tian quickly wiped her tears dry and stood in front of Lu Ningwan.
Lu Ningwan looked at the small figure before her, and her heart warmed. Just moments ago, she had been the one worried and hugging her while crying—now, at the thought of protecting her, she immediately positioned herself in front.
The deputy captain took his people into the house to call everyone out. Seeing the people inside acting as if nothing had happened, he nearly laughed in anger. “City bureau police. Everyone, please come to the courtyard for statements.”
“Didn’t we just do that? Those two officers said it was a family dispute,” Liu Xiangping said impatiently.
“Based on the information we have, this is absolutely not a family dispute. Everyone, cooperate with the investigation promptly.” The deputy captain raised his voice.
Liu Xiangping and the others stood up. Lu Dezhou had just sat down again and eaten for a while. He cursed Lu Ningwan inwardly as a fool, but his face no longer held any smile. He gripped Liu Xiangping’s hand tightly. “Mom, I really didn’t touch Lu Ningwan. Don’t let them take me.”
“Whether they take you or not is for the law to decide, not for your mom,” she replied.
Once everyone was in the courtyard, the deputy captain politely asked about the entire incident. The police had already seen the video Lu Ningwan sent to Shen Xian on the way over, so they understood the situation. They questioned everyone again afterward.
When they reached Lu Dezhou, he was still defiant. “I didn’t do it. Lu Ningwan kicked me first.”
“We’ve seen the video. Even if you say you didn’t, you’re coming with us today.” The deputy captain glared fiercely at Lu Dezhou.
“I didn’t do it. I just took off my pants. I really didn’t touch Lu Ningwan.” Lu Dezhou was so anxious he was nearly in tears.
Compared to Lu Dezhou, Lu Deyu was far more compliant and admitted everything.
Lu Ming anxiously tried to persuade the officers nearby. Seeing they were unmoved, he attempted to approach Lu Ningwan, only for Shen Xian to block his path.
Shen Xian stared coldly at Lu Ming. “Is this how you take care of Ningwan, Mr. Lu? I’ve truly seen it all. Your son did something irreparable to her. I believe you no longer have the ability to raise Ningwan. Oh, and Ningwan’s grandma lacks that ability too—after all, Ningwan was molested right under your and her grandma’s noses. I’ve already consulted a lawyer. Since you lack the capacity to raise her, I’ll pursue legal proceedings to obtain Ningwan’s custody.”
“It’s not like that, CEO Shen. This was an accident—truly an accident. It’s all Lu Dezhou’s fault. Deyu only did it because he egged him on,” Lu Ming explained hurriedly.
“That he could be egged on means he already had such intentions. By the way, a child like that has no right to attend the best middle school in Linhai City. I’ll have a word with the principal. Mr. Lu, hurry and prepare to transfer your son and daughter—after all, getting expelled would be quite embarrassing.” Shen Xian said with a cold laugh.
“CEO Shen, you can’t do this. You can’t.” Lu Ming reached out anxiously to grab Shen Xian but was stopped by the bodyguards she had brought.
Soon after the statements were completed, the police took Lu Deyu and Lu Dezhou away. Liu Xiangping let out a roar and charged at the officers, shoving one of the city bureau police.
The deputy captain sneered coldly at the sight. “Fine, now you can go with your son. Obstructing official duties and deliberately shoving an officer—you’ll learn soon enough whether to listen to you or the law after a few days in detention. Take her away.”
“What right do you have to take me? Let go—let go.” Two city bureau officers dragged Liu Xiangping into the police car. Lu Dezhou and Lu Deyu were also loaded in.
The two town officers stood there dumbfounded. The deputy captain and the other officers ignored them. The deputy captain turned to Lu Ming. “Your son is under sixteen this year. We’ll take him back for some education, and you can pick him up today. Drive over to the station with us, and you’ll get him shortly.”
Lu Ming let out a huge sigh of relief, but thinking of Shen Xian’s earlier words made his heart feel suffocated again. He had no choice but to take Zhang Ruohua and Lu Zixuan and drive off.
Lu Peng clamored to go to the station with Lu Ming and the others, but Lu Ming stopped him. “If you want to join your wife inside too, then follow along. What good would you do in a situation like this?”
Lu Peng was thoroughly frightened and, hearing Lu Ming say that, could only give up.
When the old lady saw both her grandsons taken away, she immediately sat on the ground and threw a tantrum. Shen Xian and the others did not spare her a glance. As they left, Shen Xian deliberately said to the old lady, “Old lady, get ready for the court summons. People like you don’t deserve to hold Ningwan’s custody at all.”
The old lady had cried all evening and was already exhausted. Shen Xian’s words left her both crying and shouting in rage. “You—you think I’m afraid of you? Just you wait. You just wait. Lu Ningwan, you ungrateful wolf—we raised you for nothing.”
Unfortunately, no one paid any more attention to such a farce.
