Soon, the Spring Festival passed, and Lu Ningwan’s birthday arrived. This birthday held great significance for Lu Ningwan. It was her eighteenth birthday.

Lu Ningwan’s birthday fell on Valentine’s Day, and whenever a birthday tied into a holiday, it usually carried a positive meaning.

Lu Ningwan’s birthday happened to fall during the holiday period. Shen Tian thought she needed to celebrate it properly for her Little Lu sister. After all, everyone only turned eighteen once.

The night before Lu Ningwan’s birthday, Shen Tian seemed very excited. She saw Lu Ningwan asleep in her arms but found she could not fall asleep herself. She played on her phone for a while and waited until midnight. Then, Shen Tian gently nudged Lu Ningwan in her arms. While Lu Ningwan was still groggy, Shen Tian smiled and said to her, “Little Lu sister, happy birthday. I am the first person to say happy birthday to you.”

Lu Ningwan’s awareness gradually returned. She looked at the girl smiling sweetly at her right in front of her eyes, and her heartstrings tugged hard. Her little puppy always did things that made her fall even harder. Lu Ningwan held back the flutter in her heart and affectionately tapped Shen Tian’s nose. “It’s so late, and you are not sleeping, just to tell me this?”

“Yes, this is very important. Little Lu sister is an adult now. Hehe.” Shen Tian rubbed against Lu Ningwan coquettishly.

Lu Ningwan heard the noise and opened her eyes. She saw her little puppy lying obediently on the bed beside her, playing on her phone. When she saw Lu Ningwan awake, the little puppy’s eyes brightened, and she tilted her cheek toward Lu Ningwan. “Good morning, Little Lu sister. Hehe.”

Lu Ningwan shook her head with a helpless laugh. Her little puppy had a great memory when it came to kisses. Seeing that her little puppy had already tilted her face over, Lu Ningwan gently pressed her lips to her little puppy’s cheek.

Only then did Shen Tian pull back contentedly, still muttering, “Little Lu sister, remember you still have to write your name on me later.”

Lu Ningwan’s eyebrows curved slightly. Was not her little puppy just after the kisses? When her little puppy turned eighteen, she would let her little puppy kiss as much as she wanted.

“I know. I will not shortchange you.” Lu Ningwan said with a smile.

“I knew Little Lu sister was the best to me. Little Lu sister, I will wait for you downstairs to eat together.” Shen Tian said as she sat obediently on the edge of the bed.

“Okay, I will be ready soon.” Lu Ningwan stretched lazily and got up to go to the bathroom to freshen up.

When she and Shen Tian went downstairs for breakfast, the takeout that Shen Xian had ordered arrived. She had bought several kinds of cream and a few cake bases online, ready for the family to make a cake for Lu Ningwan together.

“After we finish breakfast, let’s make a birthday cake for Ningwan together and see whose turns out the prettiest.” Shen Xian said as she looked at her three children, who were almost as tall as she was.

“Sure, mommy. Little Lu sister and I will do it together, and mine will definitely be the prettiest.” Shen Tian was the first to boast.

Shen Xian looked at her child with amusement. Her child sure knew how to brag, and she only mentioned doing it with her Little Lu sister. Did that mean Yinan had to team up with her and Qinghan? She herself wanted to team up with Qinghan too.

Lin Yinan had no idea that, out of the five in the family, she was the only single one.

Shen Tian claimed it was to make the cake look better later, so she polished off five custard buns first thing in the morning.

Lin Yinan could not even look straight at her sister. She was almost eighteen, and she still acted like a kid who loved sweets.

Shen Tian had no clue that her little sister was secretly mocking her. She and Lu Ningwan first arranged the cake bases, then started spreading a base layer of cream on top. After they had evenly coated all sides of the cake base with cream, Shen Tian asked Lu Ningwan beside her, “Little Lu sister, do you want to draw something or write words?”

“I will draw. You handle the writing.” Lu Ningwan looked up with a smile and said.

As Lu Ningwan spoke, she started using the piping tools to draw on the cream. At first, she was not very skilled, but before long, two adorable little puppies appeared on the cake.

Shen Tian asked curiously, “Little Lu sister, why did you draw two little dogs?”

“One is me, and one is you. See if you look like that clingy little puppy next to it.” Lu Ningwan said with a playful smile.

“Yes, I am Little Lu sister’s little puppy.” Who knew her little puppy would admit it so openly. She even imitated the little puppy on the cake and rubbed against Lu Ningwan coquettishly.

This time, it made Lu Ningwan’s ears turn red. After all, mother, mommy, and her little sister were still right there.

Before Lu Ningwan could speak, Lin Yinan spoke up first to tattle. “Mom, mommy, look at my sister. She is so clingy, pulling Little Lu sister to act spoiled again.”

Shen Xian and Lin Qinghan’s gazes swept toward Shen Tian and Lu Ningwan. They saw their child really acting spoiled toward Lu Ningwan and could not help feeling both amused and helpless.

Lu Ningwan helped her little puppy out of it. “Mom, mommy, it is fine. We are just playing around.”

Lu Ningwan said it so straightforwardly that Shen Xian and Lin Qinghan exchanged a glance and decided not to interfere. If the two little ones still wanted to stick together like this even after growing up, that was actually what they hoped for too. That way, the family really would not have to separate. But specifically, it depended on what the two little ones thought. They would not interfere with their ideas.

Lin Yinan saw that her tattling had failed and pouted without saying anything.

Shen Tian looked at the two little pink dogs on the cake and liked them more and more. It was clearly her Little Lu sister’s birthday, yet the birthday cake had her on it too. That meant her Little Lu sister thought she was important.

With that in mind, Shen Tian kept her smile and asked, “Little Lu sister, what words do you want to write on it?”

Lu Ningwan thought for a moment and said, “A bright future. What do you think?”

Shen Tian shook her head. “I do not think that is great. How about we write ‘may all go smoothly’? That way, whatever Little Lu sister does in the future will go smoothly.”

“Okay, Tiantian decides.” Lu Ningwan looked at Shen Tian with gentle eyes as she wrote the four words “may all go smoothly” on the cake.

Shen Tian did not use her usual handwriting style. She used a cute font, paired with the two pink and tender little dogs beside it, making the whole cake look utterly adorable.

Shen Xian and the others, after spreading the cream, topped it with all sorts of diced fruits. It looked quite proper too.

That evening, the two cakes were placed together on the dining table. Shen Tian inserted eighteen candles into each cake, representing Lu Ningwan’s eighteen years.

Shen Tian and Lin Yinan busied themselves lighting all the candles. Shen Xian saw that her two children had lit them and got up to turn off the living room lights. Everyone sang happy birthday to Lu Ningwan.

Shen Tian stood beside Lu Ningwan, the happiest of all. She felt that celebrating her Little Lu sister’s birthday made her happier than her own birthday.

Once the birthday song ended, Lin Qinghan smiled at Lu Ningwan. “Our Ningwan is an adult starting today. Make a wish quick.”

Lu Ningwan nodded with a smile. She looked tenderly at her little puppy, clasped her hands together over her chest, closed her eyes, and silently made her wish in her heart. After about a minute or two, Lu Ningwan opened her eyes.

The little puppy looked at her with bright eyes. “Little Lu sister, what wish did you make? They say the wish on your eighteenth birthday is the most effective.”

Lu Ningwan smiled at Shen Tian. She really wanted to tell her Tiantian, “All the wishes I make are about you.”

Lu Ningwan held back the flutter in her heart and smiled as she ruffled Shen Tian’s hair. “You cannot say the wish out loud, or it will not come true.”

“Exactly. Okay, Ningwan, let’s blow out the candles together.” Shen Xian looked at Lu Ningwan and said with a smile.

Shen Tian bent down slightly. She blew in one breath and extinguished more candles than Lu Ningwan did. After blowing, she playfully bumped Lu Ningwan’s arm.

Lu Ningwan looked at her little puppy with amusement.

After blowing out the candles, Lu Ningwan started distributing the birthday cake. She cut a piece for Shen Xian and Lin Qinghan each, then smiled and asked Shen Tian, “Tiantian, which part do you want?”

Shen Tian looked at the cake and pointed at the two little pink dogs. “Little Lu sister, I want those two little dogs. I want them not to be separated. Can you cut that whole piece for me?”

Lu Ningwan’s eyes curved with laughter. Her little puppy could not bear to be separated from her, so how could she bear to be separated from her little puppy?

“But that piece is so big. Can you finish it by yourself?” Lu Ningwan asked with a smile.

“I cannot finish it. Little Lu sister, let’s share one piece between us. I do not want them separated, just like I do not want to be separated from Little Lu sister.” Shen Tian hugged Lu Ningwan’s arm coquettishly.

Lu Ningwan smiled and said, “Alright, then I will eat it with Tiantian.”

After Lu Ningwan cut that piece with the little dogs for herself and Shen Tian, she saw Lin Yinan still looking at her. She seemed to have focused so much on her little puppy that she forgot her little sister.

“Yinan, which piece do you want?” Lu Ningwan asked with a smile.

Lin Yinan looked at the stuck-together mom and mommy, then at the stuck-together two sisters, and pouted. She pointed at a piece at random. “Just this one. This one has more fruit.”

Anyway, she was the lonely one, so she might as well eat more cake.

“Okay, I will cut this one for Yinan right now.” Lu Ningwan said with a smile.

After eating the cake, Shen Tian could not wait to pull Lu Ningwan into her room. A painting in the room was covered with a layer of pink cloth. Shen Tian pointed at it and said to Lu Ningwan, “Little Lu sister, that is your birthday gift from me. I hope you like it.”

With that, Shen Tian looked at Lu Ningwan expectantly.
