Teasing the Strawberry-Flavored Baby Alpha (ABO, GL) - Chapter 42
Chapter 42
Lin Qinghan was a bit stunned by Shen Xian’s description of this as “practiced.” Her little one didn’t seem like someone who had figured things out yet, did she?
“Really? I couldn’t tell at all.” Lin Qinghan thought for a moment and said. In her impression, her little one still thought about custard buns every day. And now she was kissing? And doing it so skillfully, too?
Shen Xian nodded. “It definitely happened. I was afraid it would make them awkward, so I just glanced over and turned away.”
Lin Qinghan smiled. “Well, aren’t they something? They’ve kept it so secret. We didn’t even notice. But that’s pretty good. I was reluctant to let Ningwan go anyway.”
Shen Xian chimed in from the side. “That’s true. They’re graduating and coming of age anyway. A perfect match for each other. No need to break them in.”
In the exam room, Shen Tian had no idea that Mommy and Mom were gossiping about her. She was scribbling away furiously at a few tough questions. Her math scores were good, but the last big question’s later parts took her quite a bit of time.
In the afternoon, after the exam ended, most of the students had already relaxed a great deal. Chinese and math were always the nightmares that haunted high school students. Once they got past those two hurdles, the rest weren’t so scary.
A huge crowd of students poured out of the school gates like a swarm. Shen Tian walked along with the flow and spotted Lu Ningwan not far away. Her eyes lit up, and she rushed toward Lu Ningwan. “Little Lu Sister, wait for me.”
Lu Ningwan heard Shen Tian’s voice and turned around. There was her little puppy, eyes sparkling as she waited for her. Lu Ningwan slowed her steps a little, and the little puppy hurried right up to her side in a few strides.
Shen Tian took Lu Ningwan’s hand, and the two headed toward their mommy and mom.
After hearing what Shen Xian had said about the two little ones, Lin Qinghan now looked at their joined hands and let a thoughtful smile curve her lips.
Shen Tian and Lu Ningwan had no clue. They came over to their mommy and mom all happy and excited.
Shen Xian and Lin Qinghan didn’t ask too many questions. They were afraid it would affect the little ones’ mood for tomorrow’s exam if they pried.
The four of them got home. Wang Auntie had the food ready long ago, a full table of dishes. She said it was to nourish the two little ones properly. Exams took too much brainpower, after all.
Shen Tian had gotten her kiss today, and on top of that, she had done well on the first two exams. Her mood was especially good that evening, so she ate quite a lot.
A bit later, in her room, Shen Tian reviewed the key points for English and the comprehensive sciences. But she didn’t know if it was because of the exam—her adrenaline was surging—and she just couldn’t focus on the book. Since she had a solid grasp of the material anyway, she simply set the book aside.
Shen Tian propped up her face and thought for a long while. She decided to find her Little Lu Sister first and claim the kiss for the afternoon exam. She had just pushed open her door to go knock on Lu Ningwan’s when her mom called out to her.
“Tiantian, call Ningwan to come downstairs for some fruit. It’s getting late—don’t get too tense. Big exams mean big fun, little exams mean little fun. You two come out and move around to clear your heads.” Lin Qinghan said with a smile.
“Got it, Mom. I’ll go call Little Lu Sister right now.” As she said that, the door in front of her opened—Lu Ningwan had opened it.
“Little Lu Sister.” Shen Tian’s eyes sparkled as she called out to Lu Ningwan.
“Got it. Let’s head down.” Lu Ningwan said as she closed the door and turned to go downstairs. But she immediately found her path blocked by the little puppy. Lu Ningwan looked at her with amusement. “What’s up? Didn’t Mom say she prepared fruit for us?”
The little puppy rubbed her two hands together and fidgeted a bit before speaking up. “Little Lu Sister, the afternoon exam is over now.” As she said it, she looked at Lu Ningwan with expectant eyes.
Lu Ningwan nodded as if it were the most natural thing. “Yeah, yeah, it is. Come on, let’s go downstairs. We don’t want to keep Mom waiting too long.”
Shen Tian took Lu Ningwan’s hand and shook it. “Little Lu Sister, you’re teasing me again. You haven’t given me the kiss for today’s exam yet.” With that, she leaned her face in on her own.
Lu Ningwan had only been teasing Shen Tian. Now, seeing how eager the little puppy was, she burst out laughing.
Shen Tian looked at Lu Ningwan with a face full of grievance. Little Lu Sister was bullying her again! Whine!
Lu Ningwan saw how anxious her little puppy was waiting, so she held back her laugh, leaned in to the side of the little puppy’s face, and planted a kiss there.
Downstairs, Lin Qinghan saw that the two little ones still hadn’t come down after a while. She stood up, about to call them again, when she saw Ningwan seeming to kiss TianTian?
But the distance was a bit far, and half of the little one’s body was still blocked by the upstairs wall. Lin Qinghan wasn’t entirely sure. So it really was like her mommy had said? The two little ones weren’t doing this for the first time, and they seemed pretty practiced?
She didn’t dare look too long. Lin Qinghan glanced twice and then looked away. She had been about to call out to them, but now she figured she’d just wait for the little ones to come down on their own.
Shen Tian had gotten her kiss, so she perked right up again and went to take Lu Ningwan’s hand.
Lu Ningwan let Shen Tian hold her hand and said with a smile as they walked. “Tiantian always has such a good memory for this stuff.”
Shen Tian pretended not to catch that Lu Ningwan was teasing her and leaned in with a grin. “Of course. Anything to do with Little Lu Sister, I remember super clearly.”
Lu Ningwan thought of that little yellow duck puzzle Shen Tian still kept, and the corner of her mouth curved up slightly. Her little puppy really did care about her. And that was just right. After all, the little puppy had been the one to provoke her first when she was little. So now the little puppy couldn’t run away.
Lin Qinghan didn’t know if it was her imagination, but she felt like her little one seemed really happy. So she ended up staring at her for a good while.
Shen Tian was busy eating and noticed her mom kept looking at her. She asked in confusion. “Mom, is something wrong with me?”
Lin Qinghan shook her head and thought she might as well take a plate of fruit back to her room. She felt like the little ones were making her feel a bit left out. “Nothing. Your mommy’s still in the study handling files. I’ll take a plate of fruit over there and eat with her.”
“Oh, okay.” Shen Tian nodded. The fruit platter today had mangosteen, which Shen Tian used to love most. Maybe because life had been so tough before she was three and a half, the first fruit Mommy bought her after things got better was mangosteen. From then on, she loved that sour-sweet taste.
She still remembered back then, she and Mom had gone to a place she’d never been before. Mommy there didn’t even recognize her and Mom. She had gotten so anxious that she cried. And once she cried, Mommy softened right up. She, Mommy, and Mom had lived there as a family of three for a while. But now, looking back, she felt like it couldn’t have happened. Mom and Mommy had told her it was all just a dream.
Lu Ningwan looked at the little puppy lost in thought and gently patted her back. “Tiantian? What are you thinking about? You got all spaced out.”
Shen Tian shook her head and smiled at Lu Ningwan. “Nothing. I just saw the mangosteen and remembered old times. Things weren’t as well-off back then. The year I turned three and a half was the first time I tried mangosteen. After that, I was hooked.”
Lu Ningwan smiled. “So? What are you trying to say, Tiantian?”
Shen Tian smiled. “I’m saying I’m not great at changing my mind. Like the fruit I liked as a kid—I still like it. And the person I liked as a kid? Same thing.”
Lu Ningwan’s heart swelled at the little puppy’s words. The feelings she had barely suppressed these past few days started surging up again. If only it were midnight tomorrow. The college entrance exam would be over, her little puppy would be an adult, and she could do something about it. She couldn’t just let the little puppy off so easily.
Lu Ningwan held back the urge to kiss her and smiled at Shen Tian. “Is Tiantian confessing to me?”
“Yeah. Little Lu Sister is just like mangosteen and custard buns. I like Little Lu Sister the most, too.” Shen Tian beamed brightly.
But Lu Ningwan clenched her teeth hard. Fine. Her little puppy was putting her on the same level as mangosteen and custard buns. Looked like tomorrow night, she still had to plan a big surprise for the little puppy.
“Just like mangosteen and custard buns, huh? Then never mind.” Lu Ningwan shook her head with a hint of disdain.
Shen Tian leaned in closer to ask. “Why, Little Lu Sister? Custard buns are so good. Hey, Little Lu Sister, wait for me. Why are you walking off with a plate?”
Shen Tian glanced at the two plates still on the table and simply picked one up herself. Little Lu Sister was gone, so she might as well eat in her room. At that moment, the little one still had no idea she had said the wrong thing. Back in her room, she was in such a good mood that she ate several more mangosteens in a row.
Back in her room, Lu Ningwan saw the mangosteen in the fruit plate. She skewered one after another on a fork until it was a long string, then ate them. For a moment, her mouth was full of that sour-sweet taste. Tomorrow night, she would see if the little puppy could still treat her like mangosteen.
Meanwhile, Lin Qinghan went upstairs to find Shen Xian. Shen Xian had skipped the company all day because she was worried about the two little ones. Now she still had to wrap up the important matters. She was almost done when she saw Lin Qinghan come looking for her.
Shen Xian smiled and said. “Qinghan brought me a fruit plate, huh? Perfect timing. I just finished up.”
Lin Qinghan gave Shen Xian an amused look. “You’re overthinking it. I was afraid I’d bother the two little ones downstairs. Hey, earlier when I was down there, it looked like Ningwan kissed TianTian again. I think it was on the face. But I didn’t dare look closely. I was afraid it’d embarrass the kids.”
Shen Xian walked over, speared a piece of fruit from the plate with a fork, and ate it while saying. “I told you I didn’t see wrong at lunch. That practiced way they have? Definitely not their first time.”
Lin Qinghan sat on the sofa in the study and thought for a moment before saying. “Shen Xian, do you think our little one could differentiate into an alpha? She looks so soft and milky. Doesn’t seem like it at all.”
Shen Xian ate her fruit casually and said. “It’s fine. Even if she differentiates into an omega, that’s okay too. I think Ningwan’s an omega, but she’s pretty alpha-like. It’s not like both of them would be total betas. Don’t worry.”
“That’s true.” Lin Qinghan thought about it. Her little one was even three centimeters taller than Ningwan. “Ningwan’s a reliable kid. Otherwise, if TianTian really turned out to be an omega, I wouldn’t know what kind of alpha would satisfy me for her. Now that I think about it, our Ningwan is the best. She’s a child we raised ourselves, after all. If TianTian ends up with Ningwan, we can rest easy. Plus, it keeps the two little ones from getting tricked by someone in college. That’s good.”
“Yeah, Qinghan. Don’t you think it’s time to have TianTian and Ningwan intern at the company? They could learn early and take over our work sooner. Then we two could hand off to the little ones and go traveling.”
Lin Qinghan gave Shen Xian a playful shove and laughed. “You. You’re always thinking about dumping the company on the kids.”
