The next day’s exams went smoothly for Shen Tian, especially English. Her mom had hired a dedicated English tutor for her, Little Lu Sister, and Lin Yinan. The three of them could even hold conversations in English without any trouble.

After the afternoon exam ended, the students rushed out like wild horses let loose, bursting with excitement. Shen Tian was thrilled too. She had saved up the two kisses from today’s exams, planning to claim them all at once from her Little Lu Sister tonight.

Lu Ningwan spotted Shen Tian from a distance. But with the crowd surging at the school gate and everyone so hyped up, Lu Ningwan could only follow the flow out of the gate toward where Mommy and Mom had parked. Before she got there, she saw her little puppy dash over and give Mommy and Mom each a big hug.

Lu Ningwan walked over with a smile, and Shen Tian immediately ran to give her a hug too.

“Little Lu Sister, we finally don’t have to wake up so early every day. Tomorrow, I’m going to sleep until the world goes dark,” Shen Tian said, her eyes sparkling. High school had been exhausting. Shen Tian turned and saw Mommy and Mom both looking at her and Little Lu Sister. She suddenly felt a bit shy and let go of Lu Ningwan’s hand.

Lu Ningwan, on the other hand, gave Mommy and Mom a calm smile, not the least bit embarrassed.

Shen Xian looked at the two little ones and felt even more that her little one’s shy demeanor didn’t seem very alpha-like at all.

Shen Tian was in an especially great mood because her three years of high school were finally over. Plus, past midnight, it would be her eighteenth birthday. She was already thinking about asking her Little Lu Sister for a few extra kisses.

After dinner, Shen Tian couldn’t stop thinking about what gift her Little Lu Sister might give her at midnight. She couldn’t sit still in her room for long. She decided to go claim those two exam kisses first.

Shen Tian knocked on the door and turned the handle to Lu Ningwan’s room. She saw Lu Ningwan leaning against the headboard, casually flipping through a magazine. Shen Tian stared for a while before realizing something was off. The nightgown her Little Lu Sister was wearing wasn’t the usual one. This one was a spaghetti strap, leaving Little Lu Sister’s fair shoulders and neck exposed. She looked even prettier than before!

At that moment, Shen Tian only thought it looked nice. She glanced a few extra times but didn’t dwell on it. Her main goal was to come get her kisses.

Shen Tian sat on the edge of the bed, smiling at Lu Ningwan and saying in a coaxing tone, “Little Lu Sister, you still owe me two kisses from today’s exams, right?”

Lu Ningwan set down the magazine and flashed Shen Tian a smile. The next moment, she said, “Want kisses, huh?”

Shen Tian nodded eagerly. “Yup, yup, I want them.”

Lu Ningwan gently pushed Shen Tian, who was leaning toward her, back a bit. “Didn’t Tiantian say I’m just like mangosteen? Then go ask a mangosteen for kisses. It’s the same thing.” With that, she picked up the magazine and started flipping through it again.

Shen Tian froze, stunned. Yesterday, she had just blurted that out without thinking, and now Little Lu Sister was holding a grudge! Whine, she hadn’t even gotten her kisses yet.

Shen Tian kicked off her slippers, climbed onto the bed, and scooted close to Lu Ningwan. “Little Lu Sister, I said the wrong thing yesterday. You’re way more important than mangosteen. Oh, and more important than custard buns too.”

Lu Ningwan gave her little puppy a half-smile. Oh, her little puppy was quick to change her tune. “Is that so? That’s not what you said yesterday. I remember it quite clearly.”

“Little Lu Sister, I messed up yesterday. Since my birthday’s almost here, don’t hold it against me,” Shen Tian said, tugging at Lu Ningwan’s sleeve with a pleading look.

Lu Ningwan’s body shook with laughter at her little puppy’s words. She lightly tapped the little puppy and scoffed. “So I have to hurry up and forget what you said yesterday? You’re quite something, aren’t you?”

Shen Tian grinned, a little embarrassed. “Hehe, Little Lu Sister, I’m only *kinda* something.”

Lu Ningwan reached out and poked her little puppy’s forehead, cutting off her unrealistic ideas. “Nope. If you want kisses, you’ll have to wait until midnight to get them all at once.”

“Midnight? Alright then,” Shen Tian said. She was fine with waiting a bit longer for the kisses. She plopped down next to Lu Ningwan and started playing with her phone.

Lu Ningwan glanced at her little puppy. She had purposely changed into this nightgown today, so how come her little puppy had no reaction at all? Not happy. She couldn’t let her little puppy play on her phone so comfortably either.

With that thought, Lu Ningwan leaned toward Shen Tian. Shen Tian put an arm around Lu Ningwan’s shoulder, and her hand met smooth skin. She had forgotten Little Lu Sister was wearing a spaghetti strap nightgown today.

Lu Ningwan saw her little puppy’s arm around her shoulder, and the corner of her mouth curved up. But then her little puppy’s next words completely shut her down.

“Little Lu Sister, is the air conditioning set a bit low? Aren’t you cold in that spaghetti strap nightgown?” her little puppy Shen Tian asked earnestly, her tone full of concern.

Lu Ningwan couldn’t muster any joy. Was her little puppy only worried about whether she was cold?

“Not cold. I’m done talking to you. I’m going to lie down for a bit.” With that, Lu Ningwan got up from her little puppy’s embrace, turned over, and lay down with the back of her head facing her.

Shen Tian was at a loss. Had she said something wrong again? Wasn’t Little Lu Sister just leaning on her perfectly fine a moment ago?

Seeing that Lu Ningwan had really closed her eyes, Shen Tian didn’t dare disturb her further. She played on her phone for a bit longer and then dozed off hazily.

While Shen Tian was sleeping soundly, she felt an itch on her face. She mumbled a couple of times, scratched her face, and tried to go back to sleep. But then the other side of her face started itching too. Reluctantly, she opened her eyes and saw her Little Lu Sister sweeping her hair across her cheek. No wonder it was itchy.

Shen Tian rubbed her eyes, her voice still soft and groggy from just waking up. “Little Lu Sister, what are you doing?”

Lu Ningwan was still holding a strand of Shen Tian’s hair. Seeing her little puppy looking at her with a pitiful expression, Lu Ningwan smiled and said, “Waking you up. Look, it’s midnight. Happy birthday, my Tiantian. May you grow up safe and happy, and may I be by your side for every birthday from now on.”

Shen Tian saw that her Little Lu Sister had stayed up so late just to wish her a happy birthday. She immediately perked up, beaming as she said, “Thank you, Little Lu Sister. For every one of your birthdays from now on, I’ll be by your side too.”
