That Man Is a Little Wild - Chapter 22
By the time they arrived, the villa entrance was already crowded with guests.
Chi Ye parked the car, and Li Cang, carrying a gift, stepped inside. His refined, noble presence immediately drew glances from those around him.
He made a slow round of the room but didn’t see his mother, Yu Juan.
Just as he was about to head upstairs to look for her, he spotted her by the fountain, fixing the tie of a young man about his age.
That man was Liu Zhongqiao’s son, the child from his first marriage.
Li Cang stood still, a mocking smile tugging at his lips.
A few seconds later, he tossed the gift box into a nearby trash bin and stepped outside for a smoke.
Chi Ye hadn’t left. He’d just finished a phone call in the car when he noticed Li Cang standing by the entrance, cigarette between his fingers, looking dark and brooding. A moment later, Li Cang crushed the cigarette under his shoe and walked toward the car.
“Why are you still here?” he asked.
Chi Ye tilted his head. “You’re leaving already?”
Li Cang slid into the seat. “Yeah.”
“Where to?”
“Bar.” Li Cang’s gaze stayed on the passing scenery outside the window.
“You always go drinking when you’re upset?” Chi Ye asked, amused.
“Yeah. You coming or not? If not, I’ll grab a cab.”
“I’m coming,” Chi Ye said, starting the car. “A new place just opened. I’ll take you there.”
“To try what?” Li Cang gave him a sidelong look. “The drinks?”
Chi Ye’s lips curved. “What do you think?”
Li Cang didn’t answer.
—
The bar was spacious and buzzing with energy. Chi Ye greeted the owner like an old friend, then took Li Cang to the counter, where they ordered two drinks.
Li Cang didn’t care for private booths. After two glasses, he slipped onto the dance floor.
Almost instantly, all eyes turned to him. His features were delicate yet striking, a kind of quiet luxury radiating from his every move. As he swayed and twisted with the music, his eyes shimmered with a mix of innocence and desire enough to make the crowd erupt in cheers.
Chi Ye watched him from the bar, nursing his drink.
The others noticed Li Cang had arrived with him, so although many were drawn to him, none dared approach. Chi Ye’s gaze followed Li Cang closely, sharp and possessive, like a predator watching its prey.
After half an hour, Li Cang finally returned to the bar for another drink. He turned and froze.
A woman was sitting beside Chi Ye.
She wore a strappy mini dress that barely covered her chest, one slender arm resting on the counter while her legs brushed ever so slightly against Chi Ye’s under the table.
Li Cang, still catching his breath, ordered another drink and sat there, quietly watching her.
The woman leaned closer to Chi Ye, her voice sweet and coy. “My phone’s dead. Mind if I borrow yours for a quick call?”
Li Cang tossed his phone onto the counter. “Use mine.”
The woman blinked, taken aback. Her eyes widened when she saw him,im clearly his refined features, the faint smirk at the corner of his mouth. Her cheeks flushed pink. “Oh, that’s… really kind of you.”
Just as she reached for the phone, Chi Ye took it first.
Her hand paused midair, confusion flickering across her face.
Chi Ye walked over to Li Cang, slid the phone into his pants pocket, and with his thumb, wiped a drop of wine from the corner of Li Cang’s lips.
“Uh… you two… know each other?” the woman stammered, sensing something off.
Li Cang tilted his hips slightly against Chi Ye’s waist and smiled. “Of course we do.”
The woman froze, then fled, flustered and wide-eyed. The idea that a man like Chi Ye, strong and imposing, could be that kind of man, and the one on the bottom was more than she could process.
When she disappeared into the crowd, Li Cang burst out laughing.
Chi Ye watched him. “Feeling better now?”
Li Cang took another sip, the corners of his mouth curving. He tried to hold it in, but another laugh slipped out.
“So funny?” Chi Ye asked, ordering himself a drink.
Li Cang’s lips, glistening with wine, looked soft and inviting. He lounged in his seat, elegant even in ease, and downed the rest of his drink in one smooth motion.
Licking his lips, he said, “That woman thought you were the one being topped by me. Isn’t that hilarious?”
He broke into laughter again, eyes glimmering red under the light, dangerously beautiful.
