However, the smile on the director’s face barely lasted two seconds. The person who had just completed the challenge did not head back as expected. Instead, she returned to the starting point.
The production team had a bad feeling about this.
The audience was completely stunned.
“Is Movie Queen Tang really going to do it again?”
“She still has energy left? I would have collapsed before even getting through the first stage.”
“Teacher Tang, are you planning to attempt it again?” the director finally asked through the microphone.
Tang Jing remained calm and replied, “The rules didn’t say I couldn’t do it a second time.”
They had never imagined anyone would have the energy to attempt it twice after completing it once.
Even though they were frustrated, they still had to deal with the situation.
“We’ve just changed the rule,” the director announced, trying to put a stop to it.
Tang Jing replied, “But I already pressed the start button.” As soon as she finished speaking, she turned around and started running.
The crew was startled. One of them quickly asked, “When did she press it?”
The audience could not stop laughing.
“Movie Queen Tang is rewriting the rules in real time.”
“I like her more and more every minute. She is full of surprises.”
“Please join more reality shows. You are unbelievably lovable in real life.”
“Who would have thought the serious and reserved Movie Queen Tang would have such a playful side?”
Because she had already completed it once, Tang Jing was even faster the second time. All the mistakes she made earlier were completely avoided.
“Someone get her a martial arts drama role. With those skills, it would be such a waste not to use them.”
“A fantasy series would work too. There are plenty of fight scenes in those.”
“She would be perfect as a cold and stern master, paired with an obsessive and dangerous disciple.”
“You really understand fanfiction. The disciple could secretly control the master. I would be obsessed.”
The viewers were so carried away that the comment section turned into a wild discussion.
With a clear and sharp sound, the gong rang again. Tang Jing had completed her second attempt, earning another two hundred points.
Her breathing was slightly heavy now. Sweat rolled down her forehead, and the front of her shirt was soaked.
“She’s incredible.”
“Tang Jing is so powerful and cool.”
“After watching Sun Sijia struggling like that earlier, it’s even clearer that she doesn’t deserve Tang Jing.”
“I was just a casual viewer before. After this, I’m becoming a loyal fan.”
The production team watched her return to the starting point again and panicked.
“The rule has now been changed. You can only try once per day, and each successful attempt is now worth one hundred points.”
Tang Jing stayed quiet for a moment. She could see the director was overwhelmed.
“What?” Luo Dong and Jian Anping had just arrived. When they heard the new rule, they were completely confused.
“Wasn’t it two hundred points? How did it become one hundred?”
On their way over, Luo Dong and Jian Anping had run into Sun Sijia and Meng Xue. Sun Sijia told them that this challenge offered two hundred points for a successful attempt.
The two of them were excited and rushed over, only to arrive just in time to hear the disappointing news.
“Director, you really can’t handle the pressure.”
“This is hilarious. Tang Jing is such a powerhouse that she made the production team change the rules.”
“If they hadn’t changed the rules, would she have done it again?”
“Honestly, I think she would have.”
Tang Jing said, “The rule was changed after I finished. So the two attempts I completed should still count.”
The production team was now completely overwhelmed. This task was meant to be one of the hardest in the entire show. Yet Tang Jing had cleared it twice without any trouble.
“Wait, twice?” Luo Dong was in shock.
“Two hundred each time? That means you got four hundred points?”
Tang Jing nodded and replied casually, “It was easy.” Then she glanced at the production team.
They quickly looked away, clearly embarrassed.
“That look from Tang Jing says it all. If the rules hadn’t been changed, she would have kept going.”
“You figured it out perfectly.”
“Luo Dong and Jian Anping still haven’t recovered from the shock.”
“These poor guys heard there were two hundred points on the line and dropped everything to come here. Then they arrived and heard the bad news.”
“This is too funny.”
Luo Dong hesitated for a moment, then clenched his teeth and said, “One hundred points is still better than nothing.”
He wanted to give the challenge a try anyway. It was still the highest scoring task of the day.
Tang Jing had been planning to leave, but when she heard his words, she stopped. She crossed her arms and stood to the side, looking every bit like a martial arts master ready to give guidance.
The cameras stayed focused on her, and the audience burst into laughter again.
“Tang Jing is like, fine, if I can’t earn more points, I’ll make sure everyone else passes.”
“She was about to leave, but the moment Luo Dong said he wanted to try, she stayed. The production team must be terrified right now.”
Luo Dong started warming up, occasionally glancing at her.
Tang Jing said, “I’ll teach you how to pass. Guaranteed success. If you make it through, give me fifty points.”
The production team went silent.
The viewers stared at the screen, completely speechless at first, then filled the comment section with nonstop laughter.
“Now it all makes sense. She was waiting right here.”
“Movie Queen Tang really knows how to do business.”
“How can she be this adorable?”
“I’ve completely changed my opinion of her. I used to think her serious look in front of the camera was fake. Now I realize it actually is fake, because if she didn’t fake it, she wouldn’t be able to keep her identity as the funny one hidden.”
“Is this the cold persona her agent built for her?”
The production team wanted to say something, but after thinking it over, they stayed silent. This was a deal between the guests, and the viewers were clearly enjoying it.
Luo Dong had originally wanted to ask Teacher Tang for tips, but the moment he heard her ask for fifty points as a fee, he gave up that idea.
Tang Jing kept promoting herself. “Spend fifty points today, and you can earn one hundred points every day after that.” As she spoke, she pointed to the mission board where the challenge rules had been temporarily changed.
If someone learned the technique for fifty points, they could come back every day to complete the challenge. Each success would earn them one hundred points. That meant a steady income of one hundred points per day.
The production team was once again tempted to revise the rules. Tang Jing was definitely the unexpected glitch in their challenge system.
“Luo Dong, go for it. You won’t regret learning.”
“Tang Jing is doing everything she can for those fifty points.”
“Looking at the numbers, out of all three teams, Tang Jing’s team has the highest score.”
“Luo Dong and Jian Anping worked hard all day and only have one hundred and fifty points.”
“Sun Sijia and Tian Qi’s group only managed to earn eighty points.”
Luo Dong was finally convinced.
Tang Jing then sweetened the deal. “Once you pass the challenge, I’ll give you an exclusive tip about another mission. That one is worth two hundred points.”
Luo Dong immediately agreed. “Deal.”
Tang Jing turned to Jian Anping. “Do you want to learn too?”
Jian Anping nodded.
Tang Jing said seriously, “Then you also need to pay fifty points.”
Jian Anping looked pained and turned to Luo Dong for help.
Luo Dong had been planning to learn it himself and then teach Jian Anping afterward. That way, they would only need to pay for one person. But now it looked like Tang Jing was determined to charge both of them.
“Movie Queen Tang, you really understand intellectual property.”
“I’m laughing so hard I can’t breathe.”
By now, everyone realized that the funniest moments of the entire day all happened around Tang Jing. No one could have imagined that the most serious guest on the show would turn out to be the most entertaining.
Tang Jing patiently taught both of them how to complete the challenge. She explained everything clearly, step by step. The two who paid for her help felt the points were well spent, and Tang Jing, the one who collected them, felt no guilt at all.
Meanwhile, Meng Xue had walked Sun Sijia back to the living quarters. When she returned to her own small courtyard and saw that Tang Jing was not back yet, a staff member reminded her that Teacher Tang was still at the previous location.
She was confused about what Tang Jing could still be doing over there. When she arrived, she saw Tang Jing explaining the mountain climbing mission to Luo Dong and Jian Anping. Then Tang Jing turned around and handed her a points card.
“I earned the points. You hold onto them.”
Meng Xue took the card without thinking. She glanced at the mission board, then looked at Tang Jing, whose forehead was covered in sweat. She asked in surprise, “You just completed a challenge?”
Luo Dong, who happened to be walking by, added, “She made quite a lot.”
There was a point reader nearby. Meng Xue slid the card into it. When she saw the total had reached over five hundred points, her eyes widened in shock.
“This much?”
“If they hadn’t changed the rules, I could’ve earned even more,” Tang Jing replied with a hint of regret in her voice.
The production team, clearly being called out, looked at the sky and then at the ground, pretending they heard nothing.
Looking at the mission board again, Meng Xue said, “Each successful challenge gives one hundred points. You can only do it once a day.”
Even though the card already had more than five hundred points, who would ever complain about having too many? This was only the first day. With two months of the show left, there would definitely be many places where they would need to spend points.
“I want to try the challenge too,” Meng Xue said.
Tang Jing glanced at her dress and replied, “Not today.”
Meng Xue looked at her, thinking that Teacher Tang didn’t believe she could do it.
Tang Jing added, “We have to climb the mountain tonight. You should save some energy.”
Meng Xue took the advice seriously and nodded. “Then I’ll come back and try it tomorrow.” After a moment’s thought, she corrected herself. “Actually, the day after tomorrow.”
She suddenly remembered they were going to spend the entire next day on the mountain.
“When we were at the foot of the mountain, you said spending a day up there would make us miss out on a lot of tasks and points. Now I see you were right,” Meng Xue said.
For example, this obstacle course task alone could have earned them two hundred points if both completed it successfully.
Tang Jing smiled and said, “It’s alright. Let’s just think of it as a vacation.”
The viewers in the livestream could not help laughing.
“So the two of you are on a company-paid vacation now?”
“A vacation? Seriously?”
“The director is probably thinking, fine, I’ll just change the rules again. From now on, the mountain mission only gives ten points.”
The audience immediately remembered the earlier scene where the production team changed the rules on the spot. That moment had already become one of the show’s most iconic highlights.
Meanwhile, directors from other variety shows were secretly frustrated.
“Old Zheng must be grinning right now,” they said.
Whether he was smiling or not was unclear, but at that moment, the production team was already holding an emergency meeting. They were discussing whether they needed to adjust the rules for other tasks as well.
Because ever since Tang Jing entered the game, she had become an unexpected glitch in their system. If they did not revise the rules, they would not be able to keep up.
