The Academy's Genius Healer: Reincarnated as a Mob in a Deadly Game World, I Dominate with the 'Useless' Healer Job and My Insider Knowledge ~ Using the Exclusive Cheat Technique Granted to Me, I’ll Crush Every Doom Flag! - Chapter 5
As I continued my exploration for testing purposes, a sudden, fierce roar echoed through the air.
“GRRROOOOOOOO!”
From the hallway ahead, a larger variant of the goblin appeared—one even bigger than the goblin from earlier. Its green skin gleamed under the dim light, and its red eyes glowed fiercely as it brandished a stone axe with its thick, muscular arms.
“A High Goblin, huh.”
Its level was around 8-9, which meant it was roughly the same strength as me now. Considering the trouble I had with the lower-level goblins earlier, retreating would probably be the wisest choice.
However, I had a secret strategy.
“Fireball!”
With a chant, a ball of flame appeared above my left hand. Normally, I would have fired it immediately, but instead, I maintained the flame.
(Alright—this is the real test.)
Perhaps the developers of DanAca thought Allen was too weak. In fact, healing magic had a special, unconventional application.
The effect of healing magic is to interfere with the target’s mana and restore it to its original form. And surprisingly, this applies to magic as well.
The “original form” of a spell refers to the state in which it was cast by a magic user. A spell cast without the influence of job-based adjustments is considered incomplete, which is why it is often weaker.
So, if I used healing magic on that…
“Heal!”
With the chant, the fireball I had summoned was enveloped in a soft light. Then, the unstable flame rapidly stabilized. It pulsed as though it had gained life, transforming into a more concentrated, purer mass of mana.
“GGRAAAAGHH!”
At the sight, the High Goblin seemed to sense something was wrong. In a panic, it swung its stone axe high and rushed toward me with alarming speed.
“I won’t let you—take this!”
I wasn’t naïve enough to simply wait for it. With a decisive motion, I unleashed—no, the true Fireball.
The ball of fire, now larger from absorbing oxygen from the surrounding air, surged toward the enemy with a growl.
And then—
BOOOOM!
The body of the High Goblin, hit directly by the blast, was blown apart in a flash of light. Unlike the earlier goblin fight, this was a fatal blow.
“GAAGHH…”
With its dying scream, the High Goblin dissolved into particles of light and vanished.
Then, right after—
“Experience points gained. Level up!”
The familiar system notification from the game echoed in my mind. Since the High Goblin was at a similar level to mine, the experience points awarded were substantial.
But more than leveling up, what thrilled me was the success of this trick.
“Yes! It worked just like in the game!”
Overcome with joy, I pumped my fist in victory. Now that this trick had worked, it was highly likely that other strategies would succeed as well. My plan to rise to the strongest by using every trick in the book was definitely not wrong.
“Let’s keep growing at this rate!”
I exclaimed with determination. However, what I didn’t know at that moment was that, just a few minutes later—within this very dungeon—I would face challenges too difficult for me to handle at my current strength.
