The Affairs of the Martial World - Vol 2: Chapter 20
A month later. At Taibai Tower, Fuying asked, “How is Murong Hanshan’s sword?”
Zhu Que looked at his still trembling hand and said, “With his sword in hand, I felt an overwhelming sense of helplessness, so I had no choice but to strike first to relieve the pressure.”
Fuying asked, “Then?”
Zhu Que replied, “Then I lost.”
Fuying: “……”
Zhu Que said, “Let’s not talk about the Villa of Ten Thousand Swords. Have you seen Zhang San?”
Fuying said, “I heard that many people are using the treasure map to ask him for a refund, but he has already lost his money gambling, and now who knows where he has run off to hide from his debts.”
Zhu Que let out a sigh and said, “At last, this trip was not in vain. The news of us finding the treasure has spread throughout the martial world, and surely no one will go to the desert to seek treasure anymore.”
Fuying said, “You have not made this trip in vain, but I have worked hard for nothing and almost lost my life.”
Zhu Que recalled the hairpin he had found in the ancient city, took it out, and said, “This is the only thing I have; it might sell for some money.”
Fuying glanced at it and said, “You keep it for the ladies; I’m not your girl, so don’t try to win me over with these little trinkets.”
Zhu Que put the hairpin back into his bosom, took a sip of wine, and said, “Consider it a favor I owe you; I will repay you someday.”
Fuying said, “Now, that’s a sensible thing to say. Are you heading back to the capital first, or do you plan to stay here for a few days?”
Zhu Que said, “Since there’s nothing to do for now, why not wander around Suzhou and make some friends among the heroes of Jiangnan?”
The place where the two people were drinking was the grand hall on the second floor of Taibai Tower. Taibai Tower was the most famous restaurant in the area, and it was particularly busy, with almost all the tables on the second floor occupied.
At the moment when the two were drinking heartily, a few people walked up the stairs. Zhu Que caught a glimpse from the corner of his eye and immediately sobered up a bit.
The first to come up were two women. One was Murong Jiao, and the other was the one he had been thinking about day and night, Yi Xue.
Seeing Yi Xue, his mind went blank instantly, and he didn’t even notice the few people behind her. Coincidentally, they were sitting at the table next to him.
Fuying noticed the look in Zhu Que’s eyes and seemed to understand something. He followed the gaze and saw five people had arrived: two women and three men.
Among the three men, one was an elderly man who was very old yet remarkably formidable. The light in the old man’s eyes flickered like a sword that had just been drawn from its sheath, making it hard for others to underestimate him.
The other two men were quite young, about the same age as the women, yet they both exuded vigor and moved with effortless grace, clearly recognizable as scions of distinguished families.
At this moment, Murong Jiao suddenly saw Zhu Que, but her gaze merely swept past him as she lowered her head, pretending not to recognize him. Her senior sister, Yi Xue, didn’t even glance in Zhu Que’s direction.
Zhu Que saw that the two sisters had slightly red and swollen eyes, not knowing if they had been punished by their master, which truly broke his heart.
Fuying kicked Zhu Que under the table and said, “In broad daylight public, don’t act like a pervert, staring at the girl like that.”
Zhu Que came to his senses and suddenly said, “This old man must be the Shadowless Sword Yin Wuxing! What is he doing here?”
Fuying looked at Zhu Que curiously from left to right, making Zhu Que feel quite uncomfortable. He asked, “What’s so interesting to look at?”
Fuying said, “I see your eyes fixed on that girl without a moment’s pause. How is it that you can even recognize the people who came with her? How do you know that old man is the Shadowless Sword?”
Zhu Que said, “I have fought with those two women; they are both disciples of the Shadowless Sword. Since this old man is with them, I can naturally guess his figure and walking posture.”
But this time, he guessed completely wrong because Yin Wuxing had already been killed. He only found out about it three days later.
