The Aloof Omega Caught the Eye of a Clingy Sweetheart (GL, ABO) - Chapter 1
“The budget for the next quarter needs to increase by thirty percent based on the current plan.”
“We also need to start rebuilding the foreign trade platform.”
“The implementation of new policies will greatly benefit our development next year. We need to move quickly, secure more orders, and aim for this year’s financial report to double compared to last year.”
You Song sat at the conference table, staring at the glass cup in front of her.
Hot water had just been poured over the tea leaves. Her assistant had added more water earlier, and the green leaves floated and spun in the current. She kept her eyes fixed on the rising and falling tea leaves, her mind completely blank.
“Director You, is there anything else you’d like to arrange?”
The sound of her name pulled You Song out of her daze. She looked up at the managers and executives in the room, leaned back slowly in her chair, and replied, “Let’s proceed with that plan.”
Once everyone had left the conference room, You Song stood up from her seat.
Something felt wrong today. She knew exactly what it was. Her heat was coming soon.
To the outside world, You Song had always claimed to be a Beta. Even within the company, she had maintained this lie. When she started, she was just a junior employee. After five years of hard work, she rose to the position of marketing director. No one questioned her secondary gender anymore.
But she knew the truth. No matter how well she pretended, her monthly heat always reminded her that she was still an Omega.
She returned to her office with some documents and gave her assistant specific instructions not to let anyone disturb her. After that, she locked the door behind her.
She opened the drawer, took out a suppressant, and gave herself an injection. Worried that it would take time to work, she swallowed two oral suppressants as well. Only then did she close her eyes, lean back in her chair, and let out a long breath.
Suddenly, her phone on the desk lit up with a soft chime. She lifted her weak arm and glanced at the screen. A text message had arrived.
Mom:
Song Song, today is your birthday. Don’t treat yourself badly just because you’re alone. Mom wishes you a happy birthday.
You Song looked at the message but didn’t open it. The suppressants had made her limbs weak, and she had no strength left to move. She let her phone drop back onto the desk, closed her eyes again, and sank into the softness of the chair.
She stayed in her office all afternoon. It wasn’t until after five in the evening that she finally came out.
Her assistant, Xu Ye, was shocked when she saw her.
“Director You, you look so pale. Are you not feeling well?”
You Song lowered her eyes slightly and shook her head. She noticed Xu Ye’s visibly rounded belly and said, “I’m leaving early today. I’ll be taking the next three days off. Please help me apply for annual leave with HR.”
Xu Ye, a petite Omega, nodded immediately. Still, she looked at her worriedly and asked, “Are you sure you’re okay? Do you want me to have the driver take you home?”
“There’s no need.” You Song frowned slightly. She did not want others to think she was weak. Her voice remained steady. “Just focus on your own responsibilities.”
Xu Ye could only watch her leave. With a helpless sigh, she returned to her desk and called the HR department.
Meanwhile, You Song had taken the elevator down to the underground parking garage. She opened the door to her car and shut herself inside the dark, confined space.
The side effects of the suppressants were kicking in. Her body felt heavy and drained, and her mind was slow and foggy.
She reached for the back of her neck. The skin near her gland was cold, a sign that the suppressants were working. All she needed now was rest, and after a few days she would feel normal again.
But as she sat in silence, a thought crossed her mind.
Her mother’s message echoed in her heart.
Mom wishes you a happy birthday.
She slowly closed her eyes.
Yes, today was her birthday. Was she really going to return to that empty, silent place that felt more like a tomb than a home?
She placed her hands on the steering wheel and sat quietly for a long time. Eventually, she looked over at her phone, picked it up, and began scrolling through her contacts.
She was almost thirty now. Most of her classmates and colleagues were already married and raising children. She had never seriously considered marriage, especially after hiding her secondary gender for so many years. She had long stopped hoping for a partner who would truly understand her.
She poured all her energy into work, living one day at a time. As for love, her experience was blank.
People could say she was cold or distant. It didn’t matter to her.
Her slender fingers swiped across the screen until she came across someone, she had messaged about a week ago. If she remembered correctly, it was a young internet influencer she had added through some mutual channels. She was a bold and confident female Alpha.
Apparently, the girl was still in university, a track champion in the sports department. She had shown great interest in You Song and had asked her out several times, but You Song had always declined.
Without thinking too much about it, You Song tapped her profile and sent her a message.
At seven in the evening, just as the sun had set, Jian Qiuyi pushed open the heavy door to the bar. Deafening music crashed into her ears, shaking her entire body.
“Qiuyi!”
The moment she stepped in, her best friend grabbed her by the shoulders and dragged her to a sofa, forcing her to sit down.
“Everyone, let me introduce you. This is Jian Qiuyi, my best friend. She just returned from studying abroad. Top of her class!”
Jian Qiuyi glanced at the men and women around the sofa. They were dressed in light, revealing clothes, their silhouettes swaying seductively under the dim, suggestive lights. The whole scene was wild and vibrant.
She turned to her childhood friend Ji Jia and sighed.
“I just got back and I’m still dealing with jet lag. And you bring me to a place like this?”
Ji Jia couldn’t hear her clearly. She leaned in and shouted in her ear.
“What did you say? Speak louder, I can’t hear you!”
Jian Qiuyi held her face, leaned in close, and shouted clearly.
“I said, I’m still jet-lagged!”
“What jet lag? Weren’t you on China time while you were abroad anyway?” Ji Jia laughed, slinging an arm around her shoulders. “I finally have time tonight. I’m going to introduce you to a few clean and innocent girls. Why are you acting so shy?”
As she finished speaking, the music in the club shifted to a hotter, more upbeat rhythm. The entire place erupted with energy. People on the sofa looked at each other and started inviting Jian Qiuyi to dance with them.
She was about to refuse, but Ji Jia pulled her up with a grin.
“Come on, let’s dance!”
And just like that, a crowd of them poured into the dance floor, letting loose to the rhythm. After dancing for a while, Ji Jia kept drinking until the fun turned into chaos. Eventually, she ended up dizzy and throwing up.
Jian Qiuyi hadn’t planned on drinking, but seeing how happy Ji Jia was, and considering how long it had been since they last saw each other, she didn’t resist too much. She drank half a glass of brandy, though she spat out part of it, complaining that it had been watered down.
Still, brandy had a delayed kick. While Jian Qiuyi didn’t end up vomiting all over the place, she did feel lightheaded and a bit dizzy.
By the time they left the bar, it was only a little past eight in the evening. Ji Jia leaned heavily against Jian Qiuyi’s shoulder, her face scrunched up in discomfort.
Going home like this would be difficult, not to mention she’d definitely be scolded once she got there. Jian Qiuyi glanced across the street at a hotel and decided they’d sleep there for the night and head home in the morning.
Unfortunately, there was a small issue. Although she requested two single rooms, they weren’t on the same floor.
It didn’t really matter. They’d make do.
Carrying Ji Jia into the elevator, Jian Qiuyi finally located the room and dropped her inside. She was exhausted. In the bathroom, she found a hotel hair tie and pulled her long hair up, then walked over to the bed and lightly tapped Ji Jia’s face.
“Wake up. At least wash your face?”
Ji Jia groaned and rolled over, burying her head into the pillow and sticking her butt in the air.
Jian Qiuyi was feeling dizzy herself. She really didn’t have the energy to take care of someone else right now. Thankfully, the hotel room had strong air conditioning. She took off Ji Jia’s heels and tossed them aside, then pulled the blanket over her and considered her duty done.
After closing the door behind her, she walked back to the elevator and randomly pressed a floor button. Her head felt even fuzzier.
She wasn’t fully drunk, just tipsy. Her steps were slightly unsteady, but her mind was still clear enough.
When the elevator stopped, she looked at the keycard and headed out.
After wandering for a bit, she finally found Room 802. But no matter how she swiped the card, the door wouldn’t open. The lock kept beeping, and she started to feel confused.
Had the front desk given her the wrong key?
Just as she was wondering what was going on, the door opened from the inside.
You Song had already finished showering. When she saw Jian Qiuyi standing at the door, her brows furrowed slightly.
“Why are you so late?” she asked, scanning Jian Qiuyi’s face. “You don’t look like your pictures at all. Did you edit them?”
Jian Qiuyi had no idea what she was talking about. She stared at You Song, puzzled. Why was there someone in the hotel room she just booked?
And not just anyone, but an incredibly beautiful woman.
You Song caught a faint whiff of alcohol from her and frowned.
“You drank before coming?”
Jian Qiuyi thought for a moment, her mind still foggy, and gave a soft “Mm.”
She wasn’t the kind of person who got obviously drunk. Her face didn’t flush, and she could stay alert even after a few drinks.
“Don’t drink next time before coming,” You Song said. She tightened the belt of her bathrobe, reached out, and pulled Jian Qiuyi inside. As soon as the door clicked shut behind them, she pushed her back against it.
Jian Qiuyi barely had time to react before You Song, still damp from her shower, leaned in and kissed her.
There was a fresh scent of body wash at the tip of her nose. The kiss came so suddenly that Jian Qiuyi was stunned.
You Song looked at her with a lazy expression. She lifted Jian Qiuyi’s chin and said softly, “You look a bit different from your photos, but you’re still attractive. You agreed to stay with me tonight. Do you want to shower first?”
“…No.” Jian Qiuyi’s head was finally beginning to clear. She wrapped her arms around You Song’s slender waist, her bright eyes locked onto hers.
“Can you kiss me again?”
You Song gave her a confused look but didn’t refuse. She reached out, pulled Jian Qiuyi’s head down, and kissed her again, lips parting to take in her warmth…
