The Aloof Omega Caught the Eye of a Clingy Sweetheart (GL, ABO) - Chapter 10
Jian Qiuyi pulled her hand back with a dark expression. She stared at Director You coldly and said, “Can you at least try to have a better attitude?”
Director You paused and looked at her in confusion. “What’s wrong with my attitude?”
Jian Qiuyi was furious. She leaned in toward Director You, face tense.
“If it weren’t for me, you would’ve been harassed outside the banquet hall by those disgusting executives. If it weren’t for me, you’d still be burning up in the parking lot with no one to care if you lived or died. I’ve done all that for you, and this is how you treat me?”
Director You thought for a moment and finally understood what Jian Qiuyi meant. She looked up calmly, voice cool and steady.
“So what are you saying? That I should be overwhelmed with gratitude, thank you for saving me, and then offer myself to you in return?”
“Well, I wouldn’t say no,” Jian Qiuyi leaned in closer, looking into her eyes. “We’ve already done everything people in a relationship usually do. Jie, why be so distant?”
“Jian Qiuyi,” Director You muttered, clearly frustrated, rubbing her temple. Her tone turned stiff. “I’ve told you many times. Stop bringing that night up. I had no idea you were Director Jian’s daughter when I… booked that room with you.”
“And now that you know, you want to pretend it never happened? Just toss me aside?”
“That’s not even the correct use of that phrase.”
“In my case, it is.”
Jian Qiuyi leaned in again, gently lifting Director You’s chin with her fingers. Her gaze deepened.
“Do you know what I was thinking last night while I was undressing you?”
Director You’s heart skipped a beat. She tried to turn her head away, but Jian Qiuyi held her firmly, forcing her to look up.
“If you hadn’t been sick last night,” Jian Qiuyi whispered, her breath warm against her cheek, “I doubt you would have been able to walk this morning.”
“This isn’t a hotel. This is my home. And the nightstand beside the bed is full of interesting toys. Want to try them, Jie?”
“Stop it. Let go of me,” Director You said sharply. She pushed at Jian Qiuyi’s shoulder and leaned against the headboard, frowning and turning her face away.
Jian Qiuyi looked at her delicate ear and fair neck. Teasing her like this was far more fun than she expected. She grabbed Director You’s wrist, leaned down, and gave her earlobe a playful nip.
Director You jolted, instantly furious. She raised her hand to slap Jian Qiuyi, but the girl quickly pulled away.
Watching Director You tremble with rage, holding her ear and glaring daggers at her, Jian Qiuyi only found her more amusing.
Still, teasing was one thing. Jian Qiuyi hadn’t forgotten that Director You was still unwell. With both hands in her pockets and a smug little grin, she said shamelessly, “Alright, alright, I’ll stop messing around. I’m going to warm up the porridge.”
Then she turned and walked off, leaving Director You fuming in bed.
Touching her now-sensitive ear, Director You could still feel where she had been bitten. She gritted her teeth.
This girl is unbelievably immature.
Just as she was seething, Jian Qiuyi returned again, this time holding a round, orange ball of fur. She tossed it onto the bed and said casually, “Jie, my cat is here to keep you company. Don’t be shy.”
A cat?
Director You finally looked down and realized it was an orange tabby that had just landed on the bed.
The chubby cat looked just as confused, clearly not understanding why it had been yanked out of its cozy corner and thrown onto the bed. Now it found itself face to face with a stranger.
“You…” Director You had just opened her mouth when the cat immediately jumped off the bed and bolted.
She sat in silence.
This woman really is childish.
After freshening up a bit in the bathroom, Director You came out wearing an oversized pajama top. The moment she stepped into the living room, the smell of warm savory porridge hit her, making her stomach rumble.
The orange cat was sitting on the dining table licking its paw. When it looked up and saw a stranger in the house, it froze like a statue.
Director You glanced sideways at it.
The cat stared back at her.
It held its paw in the air, frozen in a defensive pose, keeping a close eye on her as if saying, “If you don’t move, I won’t either.”
She sighed.
The cat was just as ridiculous as its owner.
Jian Qiuyi heard the sound and peeked out from the kitchen. Seeing Director You still wearing her clothes and showing two long, fair legs, she smiled brightly.
“Jie, the porridge is ready. Come sit down.”
She then turned to the cat and said, “Guazi, get down.”
The fat tabby remained on guard but jumped off the table and hid inside its cat bed. Only its head peeked out from the shadows, staring at Director You without blinking.
“This is your cat?” Director You walked to the table, pulled out a chair, and sat down while taking in the layout of the apartment.
It was a two-level duplex. She had clearly been placed in a room on the first floor. The kitchen and dining area were also downstairs. The second floor had a semi-open design. She guessed it probably held a bedroom, a study, or maybe a walk-in closet.
Director You didn’t know where exactly Jian Qiuyi’s apartment was located, but judging by the spacious layout and elegant furnishings, it had to be worth at least five to six million. If this was inside the third ring road, it could easily be ten million or more.
She had worked hard for nearly a decade just to afford a modest place of her own, scrimping and saving. Yet Jian Qiuyi seemed to live here alone.
Some people were just born in Rome.
Director You watched as Jian Qiuyi came out of the kitchen with a steaming bowl of porridge, setting it in front of her as if expecting praise.
“Try it and see if it tastes good.”
Looking down at the bowl, Director You found it oddly familiar.
“You made this?” she asked.
“I ordered it and reheated it myself,” Jian Qiuyi replied proudly, especially emphasizing the word “myself” as if trying to show off her domestic skills.
If humans had tails, Director You was sure hers would be wagging right now.
Forget it. No point in arguing with a kid barely in her twenties.
She picked up the spoon, blew on it gently, and took a sip.
Whatever else, at least the porridge tasted pretty good.
Director You was starving. She had been sick and hadn’t eaten since the previous night. She wasn’t about to waste it, and spoon after spoon quickly disappeared from the bowl.
Jian Qiuyi watched her eat most of the porridge and finally pouted, saying, “Jie, you really look the best when you’re not talking. Watching you eat is kind of relaxing.”
Director You looked up and gave her a glare.
“Enough. Stop saying these pointless things.”
“Alright, alright.” Jian Qiuyi slouched back in her chair and said, “I’ve been meaning to ask you. Why were you so determined not to go to the hospital yesterday? If I hadn’t had fever meds at home, I really wouldn’t have known what to do with you.”
Director You lowered her eyes, gently stirring the remaining half bowl of porridge in front of her. Her voice was quiet.
“Regardless, thank you for everything yesterday.”
“No need to thank me,” Jian Qiuyi replied with a grin. “Just talk to me more nicely in the future.”
Director You shook her head but didn’t respond.
After eating, she felt much better. Her body was more relaxed, though her temperature still showed a slight fever.
Jian Qiuyi sat at the edge of the bed, shook the thermometer, and said, “Take another dose of medicine in a bit. And don’t go back today. I’d worry too much if you left in this condition.”
Director You looked at Jian Qiuyi. She had grown used to being alone in this city. Being cared for like this was something new to her, and she had to admit, she truly appreciated the gesture.
“What are you looking at me for?” Jian Qiuyi noticed her gaze and leaned closer, teasing with a playful smile. “Feeling touched?”
“No.” Director You didn’t pull away. Her eyes were calm as she answered slowly, “I’m just wondering how you always have so much to say. You never stop talking.”
Jian Qiuyi almost choked with frustration. She scowled and said with mock ferocity, “I take care of you, and you still complain that I talk too much? Director You, you’re seriously heartless.”
Director You couldn’t help but let out a small laugh.
Seeing that smile, Jian Qiuyi froze. She had wanted to say something more, but the moment she saw that expression, she stopped. She knew if she spoke again, Director You would just turn cold and scold her. In the end, she touched her nose awkwardly and quietly swallowed her words.
After taking the medicine, Director You started to feel tired. Jian Qiuyi helped tuck her in, drew the curtains, and quietly left the guest room.
She had already found out who those men from last night were. They were general managers and board members from various companies. All of them were alphas, arrogant and entitled. The fact that they had the nerve to harass someone like Director You made her furious.
They had assumed Director You was just a harmless beta, and that made them think they could do whatever they wanted.
Jian Qiuyi glanced back at the closed bedroom door. With how stubborn and reserved Director You was, she was bound to suffer for it sooner or later.
Director You stayed at Jian Qiuyi’s home the entire day. But by late afternoon, she had made up her mind to leave.
“Why are you so stubborn? It’s the weekend, no work. Would it kill you to stay here a little longer?” Jian Qiuyi pouted as she looked at her. Ever since Director You woke up, she had insisted on leaving. Jian Qiuyi was clearly unhappy about it.
Director You gave her a helpless look.
“My car is still at the banquet hall,” she explained. “And besides, I can’t just keep staying here.”
“No one’s going to steal your car. And why can’t you stay here?” Jian Qiuyi crossed her arms and pouted again, her every thought written plainly on her face.
They had just managed to ease the tension between them a little today. Jian Qiuyi had hoped that if their relationship grew closer, Director You might finally stop treating her like a misbehaving child. But she had forgotten just how stubborn Director You could be. No matter what she said, she simply refused to stay.
When the elevator doors opened, Jian Qiuyi followed Director You inside, sulking.
“I don’t trust you being alone,” she muttered. “I’m coming with you to your place.”
