The Aloof Omega Caught the Eye of a Clingy Sweetheart (GL, ABO) - Chapter 13
When things go against the norm, there must be something fishy.
Instead of working at the office as usual, she left more than an hour early.
Jian Qiuyi found You Song’s behavior highly unusual. After watching You Song enter the elevator, she quickly packed up her things and dashed out, leaving Xu Yi alone with a helpless sigh.
You Song preferred parking her car at the corner of the company building shaded in summer and warm in winter so Jian Qiuyi parked there too. The moment she stepped out of the building, she saw You Song’s car already pulling out of the parking lot. Jian Qiuyi hurriedly followed.
Fortunately, the road outside the company was always congested, so even with a slight delay, Jian Qiuyi managed to keep up.
As she drove, Jian Qiuyi frowned. This wasn’t the way to You Song’s home. Where was she going?
A date?
The word suddenly popped into her mind, making Jian Qiuyi glare at the car ahead.
Well, well. So You Song was playing hard to get while going out on a date?
But Jian Qiuyi quickly dismissed the thought. Maybe You Song was meeting someone for business, she was probably overthinking it.
However, when Jian Qiuyi saw You Song park in front of a café, a bad feeling crept in. And when she spotted You Song sitting down with a man inside, Jian Qiuyi completely lost her composure!
Upon entering the café, You Song saw the physical education teacher her aunt had introduced.
He seemed to be a beta average-looking, around 170 cm tall, just slightly taller than her, but not particularly striking. Sitting there, he practically blended into the crowd.
A very ordinary man. That was You Song’s first impression.
“Hello, you must be You Song?” The man’s eyes lit up when he saw her approaching, and he immediately stood up to shake her hand.
You Song disliked physical contact with strangers, so she simply nodded and took a seat across from him.
The man awkwardly withdrew his hand and asked, “What would you like to drink? My treat.”
“A latte is fine,” You Song replied indifferently.
The man quickly called the waiter to order her drink. After the waiter left, he smiled and introduced himself, “I’m Tao Xinran, a tenured PE teacher at Sanxiao Elementary. I’m not sure how much the matchmaker told you about me.”
You Song shook her head. Her aunt had actually shared quite a bit, but none of it had stuck. Now, seeing him in person, she still felt nothing special.
Watching You Song’s slight frown, Tao Xinran felt his heartbeat inexplicably quicken.
He’d been on many blind dates before, but You Song was the most beautiful woman he’d ever met. Rumor had it she was a director at some corporation, earning over a million a year her credentials were impeccable from every angle.
But what stood out most was her stunning beauty. She looked like a movie star, with fair skin, delicate features, and a figure accentuated by her perfectly tailored business suit curves in all the right places, like a peach blossom in early spring.
He couldn’t help but admire her and wish she’d stay.
“I’m 31 years old with two Omega sisters above me. Although I’m a beta, I’m quite capable, I was a sports scholarship student in school, and after becoming a teacher, many colleagues pursued me.” Tao Xinran confidently said to You Song, “If you’re with me, I promise I’ll be devoted to you alone.”
Jian Qiuyi, who had just sat down, hadn’t even had time to order when she heard the man behind her suddenly say this.
What’s this?
If they’re not together, does that mean he’d be unfaithful?
Amused, Jian Qiuyi adjusted her cap and waved to the waiter.
You Song, completely unaware that an acquaintance had sat nearby, simply sized up Tao Xinran after hearing his words and asked, “If your conditions are so good, why don’t you have a girlfriend yet?”
“Precisely because my conditions are good, I need to be selective,” Tao Xinran replied, taking a sip of his coffee before smiling at You Song. “But never mind me, how come someone your age still hasn’t found a partner?”
“My age?”
You Song’s expression darkened. “I’m not even 30 yet, I’m several years younger than you.”
Tao Xinran shook his head, looking serious. “Anyone over 25 is considered old. I told the matchmaker I wouldn’t meet anyone over 25. If not for your good qualifications, I might not have even come today.”
Jian Qiuyi, sitting behind them, was practically laughing out loud.
“So, I should thank you for this opportunity?” You Song scoffed.
“No need for thanks,” Tao Xinran said. “But you really should listen to me, women over 25 are basically unwanted. You’re lucky to have met me, so you’d better seize this chance.”
How ridiculous, “lucky”?
Why not keep such “luck” for yourself?
You Song felt that agreeing to this blind date was a mistake. She should have firmly refused her aunt’s suggestion instead of wasting her time coming here.
“Thank you for your admiration, Mr. Tao.”
You Song leaned back against the sofa and said, “Perhaps the matchmaker didn’t fully explain my situation to you.”
The man looked at her in confusion.
“Actually, I might need surgery soon, with pre- and post-operative costs totaling around 700,000 yuan. Though my salary is decent, I spent most of my savings on a house. I’m still raising funds for the surgery would you be willing to lend me 300,000 or 400,000 to help cover it?”
Tao Xinran’s expression immediately changed. After a long silence, he asked, “What illness do you have?”
“A rare condition,” You Song replied softly, lowering her gaze. “After the surgery, I might not be able to have children or handle high-intensity work. I wonder if that bothers you.”
No children, no income, what’s the point of being pretty?!
Tao Xinran’s face twisted in anger, a far cry from his earlier arrogance. He stood up and snapped, “Why didn’t you mention your illness earlier? Do you know how much time you’ve wasted? If I’d known you had an incurable disease, I would never have agreed to meet you!”
You Song crossed her arms, leaning back as she watched him, her expression unreadable.
Just then, the waiter arrived with their coffee. Sensing the tense atmosphere between the two, he quickly set down the cups and left.
Tao Xinran seemed genuinely angry, and You Song felt there was no point in continuing the conversation. She stood up and said, “Let’s end it here. I have other matters to attend to, so I’ll be leaving now.”
“Wait!”
Seeing You Song about to leave, Tao Xinran hastily reached out to stop her.
“You can leave, but you have to pay for your coffee,” Tao Xinran said indignantly. “You can’t expect me to treat you, can you?”
You Song was stunned. She glanced at the untouched coffee, momentarily at a loss for words.
At that moment, Jian Qiuyi, who had been sitting nearby, stood up and walked over. She took off her hat and plopped it onto You Song’s head, startling her. When You Song turned and saw it was Jian Qiuyi, she froze in surprise.
“What kind of man are you, being this stingy?” Jian Qiuyi said with a disgusted expression. “How much does a cup of coffee even cost? You come on a date and still insist on splitting the bill?”
The café patrons turned their heads, watching the scene unfold like spectators. Tao Xinran’s face flushed crimson with embarrassment as he snapped, “And who are you?”
“Me?” Jian Qiuyi glanced back at You Song, their eyes meeting.
You Song’s heart skipped a beat, and she immediately tried to leave, but Jian Qiuyi grabbed her arm and pulled her close, declaring, “I’m her girlfriend.”
