The Aloof Omega Caught the Eye of a Clingy Sweetheart (GL, ABO) - Chapter 15
You Song had thought that after making Jian Qiuyi so angry, she wouldn’t be so attentive anymore.
But to her surprise, when You Song came downstairs the next morning, she saw Jian Qiuyi parked outside her apartment building, leaning against the car while scrolling through her phone. Spotting You Song emerging from the building, she pocketed her phone and walked over.
You Song watched her approach and stop in front of her, then asked in confusion, “How did you know where I live?”
Jian Qiuyi grinned smugly. “That’s not for you to worry about, President You. I’m a very resourceful person.”
You Song didn’t believe she could have actually tracked down her address. Most likely, she had followed her home last week and sneaked in to see which building she lived in otherwise, why would she be waiting downstairs instead of knocking on her door?
But You Song didn’t call her out on it. Instead, she studied Jian Qiuyi’s expression and asked, “Have you been waiting long?”
“Not too long, just over half an hour.” Jian Qiuyi blinked at her and said, “I thought about what you said yesterday, and I realized you made a really good point.”
You Song crossed her arms, waiting to hear what nonsense she’d come up with.
Jian Qiuyi cleared her throat. “You’re just mad because I was reckless and interrupted your little rendezvous, right? So I figured, instead of constantly keeping tabs on you, why not just become your chauffeur? That way, I’ll know exactly where you’re going without you having to tell me.”
You Song sighed in exasperation. “I already told you, let’s just forget about what happened before. Why can’t you let it go?”
“Oh, I’ve already forgotten about the past,” Jian Qiuyi said, leaning closer. “But I bet you still remember me kissing you yesterday, don’t you?”
You Song froze, and Jian Qiuyi laughed, happily walking back to the car and opening the door. “Hop in, President You. If we don’t leave now, we’ll be late.”
Seeing her like this, You Song could only sigh again and say, “Wait here. I need to grab something from my car.”
Afraid she might try to drive off alone, Jian Qiuyi stubbornly followed. You Song ignored her, opened the back door of her own car, grabbed a bag, and shoved it into Jian Qiuyi’s arms.
“These are the clothes you lent me last week. They’ve been washed.”
“Oh.”
Jian Qiuyi glanced at the contents and said flatly, “You actually went and washed them.”
“Borrowed things should be returned. I don’t like owing people.” You Song looked at her. “And about that night… I really am grateful.”
“Come on, no need to be so polite with me.” Jian Qiuyi flashed a row of white teeth in a grin. “Just be a little nicer to me from now on, and I’ll do anything for you, sis.”
What had started as a decent conversation quickly devolved into Jian Qiuyi’s usual teasing. You Song could only shake her head helplessly and follow her back to the car.
The previously messy back seat was now spotless, even lightly scented with some kind of cleaner. As You Song settled into the passenger seat, she asked casually, “What’s this smell?”
“Some incense a friend gave me a while back. Thought I’d put it to use.” Jian Qiuyi fastened her seatbelt and picked up a bag from the side, handing it to You Song. “Breakfast. I already ate, so this one’s yours.”
You Song looked at her in surprise, touching the still-warm breakfast, and said with some astonishment, “Did you go out of your way to buy this?”
“Your neighborhood entrance is full of breakfast stalls. Why would I need to go out of my way?” Jian Qiuyi teased while driving. “And yet, you skip breakfast every day. I really don’t understand your logic.”
Being lectured by someone so much younger didn’t anger You Song at all. She took a bite of the steamed dumpling and said, “I thought young people like you didn’t eat breakfast.”
Jian Qiuyi glanced at her, the corners of her lips curling up. “Skipping breakfast makes you so hungry. I take my health very seriously.”
You Song didn’t respond and just quietly ate her meal with the milk.
Truth be told, You Song wasn’t opposed to eating breakfast, it was just that driving made it inconvenient. Either she had to eat in the car after arriving at the office or carry it upstairs, both of which were troublesome. It was easier to just grab a coffee to tide her over until lunch.
Now, with a driver, You Song could enjoy her breakfast in peace. By the time she finished a pack of hot milk and seven or eight steamed dumplings, they had just arrived at the office building.
Jian Qiuyi parked the car and turned to look at the now well-fed woman, her eyes crinkling with amusement. “So, how does it feel having a driver? Pretty great, right?”
You Song gave a noncommittal nod and said, “It’s very nice.”
Getting out of the car, You Song led Jian Qiuyi upstairs. Along the way, Jian Qiuyi, with her long strides, chatted about what to order for lunch. They soon reached the office.
You Song was in a good mood today. Despite Jian Qiuyi’s constant chatter, she didn’t argue back, her expression softening as she listened to the trivial talk behind her.
“You~ Song~”
Just as they arrived at the office, You Song heard a woman call her name. She turned toward the voice and saw a woman in a black suit with long, flowing hair walking toward her.
“Director Zhang?” You Song looked at Zhang Zi in surprise, not expecting to see her here.
At the last banquet, Zhang Zi had pulled her aside for a long conversation, and it was only when Jian Qiuyi suddenly appeared that she managed to get away.
Now, seeing Zhang Zi again, You Song couldn’t help but recall that night. Still, she forced a smile and stepped forward to shake hands.
Her hand was outstretched, but Zhang Zi didn’t take it. Instead, in front of everyone, she wrapped her arms around You Song’s waist and pulled her into a tight embrace.
You Song froze slightly, while Jian Qiuyi’s expression darkened behind her.
Zhang Zi beamed as she patted You Song’s shoulder and said lightly, “You look absolutely stunning today, Director You. Every time I see you, you just get more and more beautiful.”
You Song gave an awkward smile and extricated herself from the hug. “What brings you here, Director Zhang? Business matters?”
The Jian family’s company had many collaborations with Zhang Zi, making them close partners. So while her presence here was unexpected, it wasn’t entirely out of place.
Zhang Zi smiled sweetly. “Business, yes, but mostly to see you.”
You Song returned the smile. “That’s very kind. Why don’t you come to my office later? I’ll have my assistant make you some coffee.”
“Wonderful~” Zhang Zi replied before finally noticing the visibly displeased Jian Qiuyi behind You Song. She blinked and asked, “Isn’t this Jian Qiuyi? Did you two come together?”
“Right.” Jian Qiuyi said with a cold expression, “I’m CEO You’s assistant.”
“Oh?” Zhang Zi looked at You Song with interest, leaning in to ask, “How’s it feel bringing a kid along, CEO You?”
Who are you calling a kid?!
Seeing Jian Qiuyi about to lunge forward with a frosty glare, You Song stepped between them with a headache, avoiding Jian Qiuyi’s gaze as she smiled at Zhang Zi. “Would you like to get straight to business, Director Zhang, or would you prefer to have coffee in my office first?”
Zhang Zi pulled her eyes away from Jian Qiuyi and grinned at You Song. “Of course, I’d rather go to your office. My team can handle the rest today, I just wanted to see you.”
You Song knew this alpha was quite the flirt, especially fond of teasing attractive people. Sometimes, You Song enjoyed playing along, trading banter back and forth.
Today, Zhang Zi likely had other motives for visiting, and You Song also wanted to probe for information about that day’s cocktail reception. She turned to Jian Qiuyi and said, “Go downstairs and get us two coffees.”
Jian Qiuyi shot her a glare. “Now?”
You Song fixed her with a cold stare. “Hurry up.”
