The Aloof Omega Caught the Eye of a Clingy Sweetheart (GL, ABO) - Chapter 2
It had been a tender night. Since You Song had injected a suppressant beforehand, even after such an intense evening, not a single trace of her scent had escaped.
When she woke up the next morning, her body felt sore and swollen, but her mind was surprisingly clear and refreshed.
She was lying against a warm chest. Turning her head slightly, she saw Jian Qiuyi still sound asleep. The younger woman must have been exhausted from the night before, as she clung tightly to You Song’s waist, completely wrapped around her like a koala.
You Song frowned slightly. Her entire body felt sticky, like sweat mixed with something else she couldn’t quite name. It was very uncomfortable.
She gently pulled herself free from Jian Qiuyi’s embrace, sat on the edge of the bed, picked up her bathrobe from the floor, slipped it on carelessly, and walked barefoot into the bathroom.
After rinsing off under hot water, most of the lingering soreness had faded. Although last night had been physically demanding, the results were clear. It had been a long time since she had felt so relaxed during the days surrounding her heat.
She glanced at herself in the foggy mirror and noticed several visible marks left on her shoulders and chest. Jian Qiuyi had been rather generous with her affection.
With marks like these, wearing low-cut clothing for the next few days was out of the question.
You Song didn’t blame her. Instead, she simply muttered to herself with a faint sigh, “Youth really is something.”
Before she left, Jian Qiuyi was still asleep.
You Song dressed neatly, looked at her peaceful sleeping face, and took out the little cash she had in her purse. She placed it on the nightstand and weighed it down with Jian Qiuyi’s phone.
“Take this as some pocket money,” she said quietly, almost to herself. “Last night was a very pleasant experience.”
Jian Qiuyi was woken up by a phone call.
Still groggy, she reached around the bed, searching for her phone but couldn’t find it. When she opened her eyes, she was greeted by an unfamiliar room.
It took her two full seconds to recall what had happened the night before.
She had gone out drinking with Ji Jia. They were drunk and ended up getting two separate hotel rooms.
She had trouble unlocking her hotel door and somehow walked into a room where a beautiful woman was already inside. That woman pulled her close and kissed her without hesitation.
Then…
Jian Qiuyi rubbed her aching temples. She remembered how intense she had been, and that woman lying on the bed, her messy hair and red-rimmed eyes… Honestly, she hadn’t even worked that hard on her graduation thesis.
The phone rang again, drawing her attention to the device sitting on the nightstand, partially covered by a few large bills.
Jian Qiuyi stared.
She answered the call. Ji Jia’s voice was loud and anxious.
“Where are you? I’ve been trying to reach you. Why didn’t you answer?”
Jian Qiuyi frowned while counting the money laid across the blanket.
“I’m in my room. What’s wrong?”
“Your room?” Ji Jia sounded confused. “Which room number?”
Only then did Jian Qiuyi realize something might be off. She jumped out of bed, quickly threw on her clothes, and went to check the door number. Then she looked down at the key card in her hand and felt her vision blur.
She had gone into the wrong room.
No wonder her card hadn’t worked.
No wonder someone had already been inside.
No wonder…
Her head spun. She hurried back to the bed and stared at the money lying messily on the covers, her vision going dark for a moment.
Ji Jia soon arrived and was immediately stunned by the mess in the room.
“Qiuyi, you…” She looked at the disarray, then at Jian Qiuyi, who was sitting in a hotel bathrobe, drying her hair.
“You said you went into the wrong room? And had a one-night stand?”
Jian Qiuyi glared at her with a stormy expression.
“Why do you sound so happy about it?”
“What? No,” Ji Jia said innocently. She stepped over a few discarded wrappers and moved closer. “So what was she like? Was she pretty? Good figure? She didn’t say anything when you came in? She actually agreed to sleep with you?”
“If you don’t shut up, I’ll strangle you,” Jian Qiuyi growled through gritted teeth.
Ji Jia burst out laughing. She knew her friend was flustered and embarrassed. Otherwise, why would she have called her over to help clean up?
“Don’t worry, I won’t say a word to anyone,” Ji Jia said, looking around the messy room with her hand on her chin. “But how are you going to go back like this? You can’t wear these clothes again.”
Jian Qiuyi glanced at her wrinkled and stained clothes on the floor and frowned.
“Go buy me a full set. Inside and out. And bring some breakfast.”
Ji Jia stared at her.
“You really treat me like your assistant, don’t you?”
Before Jian Qiuyi could snap back, Ji Jia raised her hand with a dramatic sigh.
“But since I’m such a kind and generous person, I’ll do it. In exchange, you have to tell me more about that woman.”
She leaned closer with an excited look.
“Was she hot? What’s her name? Was she an Alpha or Omega?”
Jian Qiuyi paused. She searched her memory. The woman hadn’t had any scent at all.
“I think… she was probably a Beta.”
Three days later, You Song returned to work after her leave.
Her assistant, Xu Ye, was one of the few Omegas at the company. She always arrived early and kept her workspace spotless. You Song appreciated her greatly. Xu Ye was diligent, organized, and reliable. But now she was over seven months pregnant and would soon go on maternity leave.
When You Song walked in, she saw Xu Ye watering the plants. The woman smiled brightly as she greeted her.
“Good morning, Director You.”
You Song gave a small nod. Watching her hold the watering can with a bulging belly, she asked, “Aren’t pregnant women supposed to avoid lifting heavy things?”
Xu Ye smiled. “It’s just watering the plants. That doesn’t really count as lifting.”
“But watering cans aren’t that light. And in your condition, slipping could be dangerous,” You Song replied calmly. “Let the cleaning staff handle it from now on.”
Xu Ye looked at the can in her hand and nodded.
“Thank you for your concern, Director You.”
You Song didn’t say anything else and walked into her office.
After three days away, quite a bit of work had piled up. She processed several files before feeling a bit tired. Pressing her fingers to the bridge of her nose, she decided she needed a coffee.
There was a knock at the door.
Just then, there was a knock at the office door. Xu Ye stood at the entrance holding a notebook and said, “Director You, it’s time for the weekly meeting. It’s being held in Conference Room Two.”
“Alright, I understand.” You Song glanced at the documents on her desk, moved them aside, picked up her laptop, and walked with Xu Ye to the second meeting room.
The weekly executive meeting was always held on Mondays. You Song had taken three days off, which included the weekend, but she had missed Friday’s meeting. Naturally, she had no idea what had been discussed last week.
But company meetings were fairly routine. They typically covered performance reports, future planning, and task assignments. As long as the direction was clear, the rest didn’t need her direct involvement.
At the management level, most responsibilities came down to guiding and overseeing others, not handling every detail personally.
As soon as You Song entered the meeting room, she noticed a few executives chatting casually. When they saw her walk in, they smiled and greeted her warmly.
“Director You, you missed quite the drama last week.”
The legal director, who had always gotten along well with You Song thanks to his blunt but friendly nature, looked at her with a grin and said, “Chairwoman Jian came in person last Friday.”
“Chairwoman Jian?” You Song found a seat and sat down, a bit puzzled. “Wasn’t she still overseas? When did she come back?”
“Not only did she return,” said another executive across from her, “she also brought her daughter back with her.”
After saying that, he turned to the HR director beside him. “Director Jian, you’re the chairwoman’s sister. Did you know about this?”
The HR and finance departments were the company’s two internal pillars. Jian Xianghe, the HR director, was indeed the chairwoman’s younger sister. She gave a helpless look and replied, “That’s just family business.”
“If it were only family business, we wouldn’t be talking about it like this,” the legal director cut in. “Word is that Chairwoman Jian’s daughter plans to start working here. The question is, which one of us is going to be assigned to mentor her?”
He gave You Song a meaningful glance, then added with a playful smile, “Director You, who do you think is most likely to end up with that task?”
Without looking up from her laptop screen, You Song responded calmly, “I don’t train kids. I only work with capable people.”
Everyone around the table exchanged looks and quietly agreed with her.
It was clear to everyone what the chairwoman’s visit meant. She was laying the groundwork to place her daughter in the company, probably with the hope that after gaining some experience, the girl could eventually take over as the next leader.
In theory, that sounded fine. But none of them knew what kind of person the chairwoman’s daughter really was, let alone her actual work ability.
What if she turned out to be just another spoiled heiress with no skills?
What if she was completely untrainable and useless?
Work was already hard enough. Nobody wanted to be burdened with mentoring the boss’s daughter, so all their comments carried a thin layer of resistance.
As the chairwoman’s sister and head of HR, Jian Xianghe stayed quiet. After all, she didn’t know what arrangements her sister had in mind. Whatever decisions were made from above, she would simply carry out.
The manager running the meeting saw that most people had arrived, so he began the weekly session as usual.
While the meeting dragged on with the same old discussions, You Song worked through her emails on her laptop. Xu Ye sat quietly behind her, taking notes on the meeting.
Halfway through, a sudden commotion came from the doorway.
You Song looked up from her screen and saw several people entering the room.
Leading the group was Chairwoman Jian and right behind her was someone very familiar.
