The Aloof Omega Caught the Eye of a Clingy Sweetheart (GL, ABO) - Chapter 3
This was the second time You Song had seen Jian Qiuyi.
At this moment, Jian Qiuyi was dressed in a modest but well-fitted professional outfit as she followed Chairwoman Jian into the conference room.
You Song’s gaze froze on her the moment she appeared, and her mind began racing.
Why is she here?
Wasn’t she a university student majoring in sports?
And judging by Chairwoman Jian’s attitude, they seemed to be quite close.
You Song quickly recalled what the executives had been talking about earlier, how the chairman’s daughter had returned from abroad to join the company. Everything clicked at once. Her expression went pale.
Naturally, Jian Qiuyi had also seen You Song. Her eyes widened slightly, but she quickly composed herself, following behind her mother with a polite smile as they walked to the front of the room.
Chairwoman Jian, whose full name was Jian Xiangling, was in her late forties to early fifties. She had spent her youth building her career and didn’t have her daughter until she was nearly thirty. Compared to other women her age, she appeared a bit older, and the years had left their marks. Despite some signs of aging, including deep lines around her mouth, her presence was powerful.
Wearing an all-white pantsuit, she stood at the front of the room, instantly commanding attention with her dominating aura.
Everyone stood when she entered. You Song quickly pulled herself together and stood as well, her face serious as she watched them approach.
“No need to be so formal,” Jian Xiangling said with a bright smile. “I just happened to be nearby and thought I’d drop in. Please, continue the meeting as usual. Don’t let me interrupt.”
The manager hosting the meeting exchanged a few polite words, then turned to the young woman beside her.
“This must be Miss Jian?”
“Miss sounds so distant,” Jian Xiangling said cheerfully. “This is my daughter. She just returned from abroad, so I’m bringing her around to see the company. Qiuyi, these people are your future leaders. Understand?”
Jian Qiuyi gave a small nod, her gaze drifting subtly to You Song.
“I understand, Mom,” she said with a light smile.
The moment the meeting ended, You Song didn’t stay for a second longer. She was the first to leave the room.
As Xu Ye hurried after her, You Song said firmly, “If anyone comes to see me later, tell them I’m out handling business. I don’t care who it is. Got it?”
Xu Ye, a bit out of breath, quickly nodded. “Understood, Director You.”
Once she had shut herself back inside her office, You Song picked up her phone, searched for that familiar contact, and sent several messages. But to her shock, she discovered she had been deleted.
Just days ago, this person had been so eager to pursue her. Now she had cut ties without warning?
That only confirmed You Song’s growing unease. She must have made a huge mistake that night.
It made sense. There was no way the daughter of a corporate chairwoman, just returned from overseas, would ever agree to something so casual.
The only explanation was that they had both mistaken each other. A misunderstanding, or perhaps some strange twist of fate, had led them to that night.
Whatever the reason, You Song knew one thing for sure: this was trouble.
She couldn’t stop remembering how passionate Jian Qiuyi had been. The way she kissed her, how they stumbled from the doorway to the bed.
You Song rubbed her temples. Everything felt like it had spiraled out of control.
After over an hour of trying to calm down, she finally finished reviewing her documents and called Xu Ye.
“Did anyone come to see me earlier?” she asked.
“Yes, Director You,” Xu Ye replied. “Chairwoman Jian stopped by. I think she had something to discuss with you. I told her you had gone out and that we weren’t sure when you’d be back. Then she left.”
Chairwoman Jian came to see me?
You Song paused. “Was she alone?”
“She brought her assistant.”
“Just the two of them?”
“Yes.” Xu Ye hesitated for a second, then asked carefully, “Director You, is something wrong?”
“It’s nothing,” You Song replied calmly. “If anyone else comes by later, just say I’m back.”
“Alright.”
After hanging up, You Song stared at her phone.
If it had been urgent, Jian Xiangling would have called. Since she didn’t, it probably wasn’t anything pressing.
But the fact that she came in person meant it was still important.
You Song could only guess it was related to what the executives had speculated earlier—assigning someone to mentor her daughter.
And that idea gave her a headache. No matter what happened, she could not let Jian Qiuyi stay by her side.
Meanwhile, Jian Xiangling had just left the HR department. She had gone to discuss a few internal matters with her younger sister. Stepping out of the office, she saw her daughter sitting on the lobby sofa with her legs crossed, playing on her phone.
The sight filled her with frustration.
“Qiuyi,” she said, looking at her lazy daughter. “You do understand why I brought you here, don’t you?”
“Of course I do,” Jian Qiuyi said without looking up from her handheld game console. “You got tired of me doing nothing overseas, so you dragged me back to work in your company.”
“If you understand that, then stop playing games.” Jian Xiangling was visibly annoyed. Her voice turned sharp. “I sent you abroad to build discipline. You’re a young woman. Do you really think it’s clever to always be at odds with your parents?”
“I think it’s quite fun,” Jian Qiuyi replied as she put her phone away. She looked at her furious mother and smiled. “It makes me happy to see you upset.”
The words had barely left her mouth when Jian Xiangling raised her hand, ready to slap her.
Before she could, Jian Xianghe quickly stepped in to stop her.
“Sis, don’t hit her again,” Jian Xianghe said, trying to calm things down. “You know what she’s like. The more you hit her, the more stubborn she becomes.”
Jian Xiangling also realized it wasn’t appropriate to scold her daughter in public, especially at the company. Still, the frustration in her chest wouldn’t go away. She pointed at Jian Qiuyi and said sternly, “Don’t think that just because your aunt speaks up for you, you can do whatever you want. Starting tomorrow, you’ll report to the company for work. And I want you to drop that attitude you’ve been carrying around outside.”
Jian Qiuyi thought for a moment and, surprisingly, agreed. “Fine. But I want to choose my own department.”
Both sisters were stunned. They turned toward her with identical expressions of disbelief.
Jian Xiangling was about to speak, but Jian Xianghe raised a hand to stop her, signaling that she would handle it.
“Qiuyi,” she said gently, “do you already have a department in mind? Tell your aunt, and I’ll arrange it for you.”
“Sure,” Jian Qiuyi replied. “During the meeting earlier, the first woman sitting by the window, she’s the marketing director, right? Can I work with her?”
“You mean Director You Song?”
“I think that’s her name.”
Jian Xianghe glanced at her sister, who also looked confused, then turned back to Jian Qiuyi and explained, “She is indeed the marketing director, and technically there’s no issue with assigning you to her team. But the marketing department is intense and demanding. You might not be able to handle the pressure.”
“I’ll get used to it,” Jian Qiuyi replied calmly. She looked up at the two women and added, “If you won’t let me, then I won’t come to work at all. I’m fine staying home.”
Jian Xiangling had still been wearing a stern expression, but the moment she heard her daughter wanted to go to the toughest department in the company, her demeanor completely changed. She broke into a smile and said warmly, “Of course you can. But since you’ve chosen the marketing department, you’d better be ready. If you quit after a few days, don’t blame me for freezing your credit cards.”
Jian Qiuyi laughed. “Got it. I’ll work hard.”
So, the second time Jian Xiangling came looking for You Song, it was right around lunchtime.
As soon as she walked into the office, You Song saw her smiling brightly and heard her say, “Xiao Song, do you have lunch plans? If not, come downstairs with me. I just reserved a table. Just the two of us. No assistants.”
The moment You Song saw her, she understood why Jian Xiangling was here. She was coming as a negotiator.
“Chairwoman Jian,” You Song said with a slightly forced smile, “I’m not sure I can afford this lunch.”
“What do you mean by that?” Jian Xiangling asked, feigning innocence.
Looking at her boss, You Song sighed. “You’re not just inviting me to lunch. You want something, don’t you?”
Jian Xiangling chuckled and sat down in the chair across from her. “You’re not wrong. I do need a favor. And I won’t beat around the bush. You were promoted under my watch. Among all the executives in this company, you and I have the most direct connection. I still remember when you first started—messy, overwhelmed—I didn’t think you’d amount to much.”
As Jian Xiangling began reminiscing, You Song frowned and interrupted. “Chairwoman, there’s no need to bring up the past. Just get to the point.”
“Alright, I’ll be direct then,” Jian Xiangling said, still smiling. “You’ve already seen my daughter today. Her name is Jian Qiuyi. She recently returned from overseas. I want to assign her to your team. What do you think?”
You Song stared at her, a headache already forming. She had suspected this was coming. And now here it was.
“I’m sorry, Chairwoman,” she said, trying to keep her voice polite. “You can see how busy I am. I don’t think I’m the right person to take her on. Perhaps someone in the PR department would be better suited. They’re full of bright young women and work closely with various teams. It would be a great place for her to build character.”
“But if we’re talking about building character, nothing beats the marketing department,” Jian Xiangling replied. “She’s my daughter. She’ll eventually take over the company. Xiao Song, please don’t turn me down. If you agree to mentor her, I’ll increase your salary by fifty percent. Your year-end bonus and incentives will also be double those of other departments.”
She added, “We’re also in the process of expanding our overseas market. If you perform well, I’d like you to become the general manager of our overseas branch.”
You Song sat silently, staring at her.
So, this was how she planned to buy her over.
She thought about it for a long time. Truthfully, she really didn’t want anything to do with Jian Qiuyi. The situation from the other night was still fresh in her mind and left her feeling deeply embarrassed.
But the offer was hard to ignore. It was simply too good.
After a long silence, You Song finally gave in.
“I understand,” she said with a sigh. “Tell her to report to my office tomorrow.”
