The Aloof Omega Caught the Eye of a Clingy Sweetheart (GL, ABO) - Chapter 8
Director You was not upset by Zhang Zi’s teasing. She knew this woman was an alpha, bold and flamboyant in nature, with quite a reputation. Zhang Zi was known for flirting with any woman who had even a bit of charm.
“You must be joking, Boss Zhang,” Director You said with a light smile. “She’s the daughter of Director Jian. I brought her along so she could gain some experience.”
“Oh, I think I’ve heard of her,” Zhang Zi replied, thinking for a moment. “She just returned from overseas, right? I can’t remember what she looks like, but I heard she just graduated. Still a kid.”
A kid, and an annoying one at that.
But since Jian Qiuyi was her boss’s daughter, and Zhang Zi was an outsider, there was no way she could speak ill of her to others.
“Please don’t say that, Boss Zhang. She’s just young. She has potential for the future.”
“Is that so?” Zhang Zi chuckled. “Then when she arrives, Director You must introduce her to me.”
As she spoke, Zhang Zi looked at Director You again, her eyes bold and suggestive.
“Director You, our company recently secured a new project. Would you be interested in checking it out?”
“A project?” Director You glanced at her, uncertain whether she was serious or just trying to make conversation.
“Yes, it’s a promising one. If it goes through, your company could see an increase of at least ten million in annual profits.” Zhang Zi leaned in closer and whispered, “I’m only telling you about this. I haven’t mentioned it to anyone else.”
“You’re giving me too much credit,” Director You said, clearly uncomfortable with how close Zhang Zi was getting. Though she kept her composure, her expression began to show signs of irritation.
“But if it’s really a good opportunity, we would definitely like to be considered. When it comes to partnerships, no one is a better fit than us.”
Zhang Zi smiled, her eyes curving as she gently clinked her glass with Director You’s.
“Of course. For your sake, I’ll give your company serious thought.”
After taking a sip of champagne together, Zhang Zi relaxed further and leaned in again.
“Director You, are you really not free tonight to join me for a little drive and enjoy the night view?”
Director You was trying to find a way to decline politely without sounding too harsh, when a voice called out from nearby.
“Jie, there you are. I’ve been looking for you everywhere.”
The voice alone told Director You exactly who it was.
Zhang Zi looked up and saw a tall, beautiful young woman approaching. She smiled at Director You and said, “Jie, I called you but you didn’t pick up. I almost got lost.”
Director You glanced at Jian Qiuyi and quickly played along.
“Sorry, I didn’t hear the phone.”
Zhang Zi blinked and asked curiously, “And this is…?”
“This is Director Jian’s daughter,” Director You said, taking the opportunity to step away from Zhang Zi and move closer to Jian Qiuyi. “Why are you just getting here?”
The question came from the heart. If Jian Qiuyi hadn’t shown up to rescue her, she really wouldn’t have known how to escape Zhang Zi’s advances.
“I came at just the right time, didn’t I?” Jian Qiuyi replied with a cheerful smile. She leaned in close, wrapped an arm around Director You’s waist, and whispered in her ear, “Jie, your waist is so slim.”
Director You gave her a sharp look and muttered quietly, “Let go.”
Jian Qiuyi smiled without saying anything.
Because the two of them were speaking softly and standing very close, Zhang Zi couldn’t hear what they were saying. Still, she was sharp enough to notice the intimacy between them. Clearly, their relationship was more complicated than Director You had made it sound.
“Let me introduce you,” Director You said as she gently pulled herself free from Jian Qiuyi’s arm and turned to Zhang Zi. “This is Boss Zhang, Zhang Zi. She’s an old acquaintance of your mother and one of our long-time partners.”
Then she gestured to Jian Qiuyi.
“Boss Zhang, this is Director Jian’s daughter, Jian Qiuyi. She’s currently working under me.”
“Jian Qiuyi? That’s a lovely name. It suits her. You’re absolutely beautiful, just like your mother,” Zhang Zi said, reaching out to shake her hand. Her smile was bright and full of flattery. “You two really do look alike. Both stunning women.”
Zhang Zi was known for her exaggerated compliments, and Jian Qiuyi didn’t take it too seriously. She returned the polite smile and chatted briefly before turning to Director You.
“Jie, someone over there was just asking for you. They looked like they were in a hurry.”
Director You nodded at once.
“Got it. Boss Zhang, I’ll head over first. Let’s talk again later.”
Zhang Zi watched as Jian Qiuyi led Director You away, her eyes full of curiosity as she finished the last sip of her champagne.
Weaving through the crowd, Jian Qiuyi held onto Director You’s hand until they finally found the banquet’s private lounge.
With a click, she locked the door behind them.
Only then did she let go of Director You’s wrist and look at her with a teasing smile.
“Director You, all dressed up like this tonight. Who were you trying to impress?”
Director You didn’t answer. She placed her champagne on the nearby table and walked over to the sofa to sit down.
The lounge was small, meant for quick meetings or quiet breaks. It had just one couch and a table. With the door closed, it blocked out the noise outside and gave Director You a brief moment to rest.
Jian Qiuyi leaned against the door and looked at her with curiosity.
“So what’s your relationship with that Zhang Zi? She was practically hugging your waist, and you didn’t even pull away.”
“Which eye of yours saw me not pulling away?” Director You said with clear annoyance. “You saw what was happening. Why didn’t you come over earlier?”
“I thought you two were old friends catching up. I didn’t want to interrupt. But the more I watched, the stranger it looked.”
Jian Qiuyi gave her a dramatic look full of mock hurt and asked, “Jie, are you that fickle? Isn’t having me enough? You still want to look for someone else?”
Director You glared at her.
“Don’t talk nonsense.”
Even rolling her eyes, Director You looked stunning. Jian Qiuyi leaned in immediately, placing her hands on either side of the sofa and trapping her in.
The sudden scent of white freesia filled the space between them. Director You’s mind went blank for a moment as she watched Jian Qiuyi lean in and whisper softly into her ear.
“Jie, did you wear perfume today?”
“Perfume?” Director You looked puzzled. “I don’t wear perfume.”
“How can that be?” Jian Qiuyi moved closer, her nose gently brushing against the smooth skin of Director You’s neck. “I smell a hint of white tea. Is that a new scent? It smells amazing.”
Director You suddenly pushed her away in a panic, her expression flustered.
“Don’t get so close.”
Jian Qiuyi froze for a second, then frowned in frustration.
“Seriously? I helped you get away from that sleazy woman, and this is how you treat me?”
Director You looked annoyed.
“I never asked for your help. You threw yourself into it on your own.”
Jian Qiuyi was furious. She stomped her foot.
“You’re unbelievable. Even if you’re not going to thank me, do you have to talk to me like that?”
Director You’s head was pounding. She frowned deeply and looked at her.
“Just focus on doing your job.”
“Fine. Fine. Whatever you say.” Jian Qiuyi’s anger was visible, her hair practically standing on end. She stared at Director You, her voice trembling with frustration.
“I’m done helping you. If that woman bothers you again, don’t expect me to lift a finger.”
She stormed toward the door, flung it open, and shouted back at her.
“If I help you again, I’m a dog.”
With that, she slammed the door behind her.
Director You watched her leave, her face going pale. She hadn’t meant to drive Jian Qiuyi away like that. It was just that when she mentioned the scent of white tea, it triggered an instinctive reaction.
She had never told anyone about her secondary gender, nor had she ever revealed the scent of her pheromones.
In truth, Director You knew her pheromone had the scent of white tea. This type of plant-based pheromone was naturally light and subtle. Unless someone got very close, it was almost impossible to detect.
What puzzled her more was that she had long passed her heat cycle. How could her pheromone suddenly be leaking out?
Could it be that after using too many suppressants, her body had developed resistance and the pheromones were no longer under control?
Director You thought about it for a long time but still couldn’t find an answer. She did seem to smell the faint scent on herself, and with a frown, she reached into her bag, pulled out a small pill box, and shook out two white tablets.
Two tablets. Was that enough?
She usually took two during her heat cycle, and that was supposed to be sufficient. But Jian Qiuyi’s words just now had shaken her up. Feeling uncertain, she poured two more into her hand.
After swallowing four pills altogether, Director You finally felt slightly more at ease.
She no longer cared about the task Jian Xiangling had given her. She decided to rest here a while and then head home.
After storming out of the banquet, Jian Qiuyi was cooled slightly by the chilly wind outside.
She glanced back toward the banquet hall with a look of grievance. Something didn’t sit right. Director You had been perfectly fine just a moment ago. Why had she suddenly flipped like that?
Something was definitely off.
Jian Qiuyi paced a few steps at the entrance, then finally made up her mind to wait for her at the parking lot.
It was one thing to be scolded at the office every day, but to be scolded out here too? Jian Qiuyi was absolutely not having it.
She was a pampered heiress. When had she ever been treated this way?
Tonight, she was determined to stop Director You, drag her into the car, and do all sorts of things to her. Just like that night, until she was left crying and gasping for breath.
Thinking of that night made Jian Qiuyi even angrier.
She had put in so much effort, nearly rubbed her hands raw, and woke up the next morning only to find a few hundred yuan thrown at her.
Was she being treated like a beggar?
Jian Qiuyi leaned over the steering wheel, fuming, and stared at Director You’s car parked across from her. The more she thought about it, the angrier she became. And the angrier she got, the more she thought.
She thought about Director You’s graceful body from that night. The way she had begged her to slow down through her tears. And how she looked today, wearing that violet gown, lounging on the sofa like some forbidden temptation.
“This woman actually yelled at me,” Jian Qiuyi muttered bitterly. “I should’ve just stayed and had my way with her on the sofa.”
Really, the more you hold back, the more you suffer. The more you let it go, the more you lose.
What a terrible deal.
Just as Jian Qiuyi was getting so mad her head hurt, she saw a figure in violet approaching from the distance. Her eyes lit up instantly. Who else could that be but Director You?
She was just about to open the door and get out when she saw a few figures stumble around the corner.
Jian Qiuyi’s expression changed immediately. Those people didn’t look right at all. Their faces were suspicious, and their eyes openly roamed over Director You’s body, staring at her waist, hips, and legs without shame.
Bastards. They dare lay eyes on her woman?
Cursing under her breath, Jian Qiuyi reached into the messy backseat and pulled out a baseball bat. She swung open the door and marched straight toward them.
