The Alpha’s Hidden Marriage, Public Obsession (GL) - Chapter 8
“Sister Lan, she’s about to marry you, yet she’s still out there flirting with others. Actually, no, it’s not even flirting. She’s openly looking for someone new.”
The Omega was filled with anger. The more she thought about Jiang Xue’s attitude earlier and the things she had said, the more furious she became.
“Sister Lan, are you really just going to let her cheat on you like that?”
Lin Yulan picked up some food with her chopsticks and smiled casually.
“Why should I be upset? If she wants to be with someone else, that’s her freedom. I’m not part of her world, so why should I get involved? Besides, didn’t you see how that female Alpha was looking at her? Her eyes were practically dripping with desire. If we interfere, aren’t we just breaking up a pair of lovers? That would bring bad karma. We should be respectful and offer our blessings instead.”
“Respectful? Blessings?” the Omega echoed in disbelief.
“Exactly. Isn’t there a saying? Lovers who are meant to be will end up together.”
The Omega felt like Sister Lan must have lost her mind but didn’t dare say it out loud. Instead, she forced a smile.
“Sister Lan, why are you saying things like this? Aren’t you about to register your marriage with her? Once you do, she will officially be your Omega and your legal spouse. If she’s still involved with another Alpha, then she’s clearly cheating. How can you not be angry about that?”
As if she wasn’t doing the same thing herself.
No, this situation was different.
She already had someone she loved. It was only because of her mother’s pressure that she was being forced to marry Jiang Xue. That made things fundamentally different. What Jiang Xue was doing was betrayal.
“Isn’t that even better?” Lin Yulan said with amusement.
The Omega didn’t understand what could possibly be good about it. What kind of Alpha would be happy about being cheated on by their own Omega?
Was Sister Lan really thinking straight?
“Sister Lan, I still don’t get it. What’s the benefit of her cheating on you?”
“There’s a big benefit,” Lin Yulan said without hesitation. “I don’t like that woman, Jiang Xue. Everyone knows this marriage is my mom’s decision. I don’t want it, but it doesn’t matter. As long as my mom refuses to change her mind, I have no choice but to marry her. But think about it. Even if Jiang Xue manages to charm my mom, the moment she does something unfaithful, do you think my mom would still let someone like her marry into our family?”
Ye Jing suddenly understood.
“So you’re not exposing her. You’re actually supporting her relationship with that Alpha so you can catch her in the act. Then you can go to Aunt Ming with proof, and that woman’s plan to marry into the Lin family will fall apart.”
“Exactly. Smart thinking.”
As long as Lin Yulan could prove that Jiang Xue had an inappropriate relationship with another Alpha, Ming Zelan would never allow someone like that to marry into the Lin family. She would protect the family’s reputation at all costs.
Ye Jing had always known that Lin Yulan didn’t like Jiang Xue. She looked plain, wasn’t even as attractive as herself, and dressed in outdated, unfashionable clothes. If Lin Yulan really had to get married, that woman should be the last option.
“But Sister Lan, we forgot to record a video earlier. If we want to report this to Aunt Ming, she might say we have no evidence. I don’t know what kind of spell that woman put on Aunt Ming, but she always takes her side.”
Lin Yulan realized she had made a mistake. Without video evidence, Ming Zelan would never believe Jiang Xue had done anything wrong. Worse, Jiang Xue might twist things around and accuse her of lying. If that happened, Ming Zelan might really punish her harshly.
“Stop eating and go outside. See if they’re still around. If they haven’t left yet, that would be perfect.”
Ye Jing nodded, wiped her mouth with a napkin, grabbed her phone, and quickly stepped outside.
Jiang Xue and Xia Yin had not left. They had just gotten into the car. Since Jiang Xue seemed upset, Xia Yin hadn’t started the engine yet. Instead, she handed over a bottle of sweet orange juice that she had just bought from the restaurant.
“I heard that drinking something sweet can help improve your mood. Give it a try.”
Jiang Xue wasn’t exactly in a bad mood. Lin Yulan’s words hadn’t really affected her. When something becomes a habit, no matter how dramatic the moment, her heart remained calm and numb.
She just felt uncomfortable.
And discomfort wasn’t that different from feeling down.
She had thought that seeing Lin Yulan with another Omega would no longer affect her emotionally. But in the end, she still couldn’t ignore it.
“I’m fine. Thank you, Professor Xia.”
“I bought it just for you. I wanted to get candy, but the restaurant isn’t a convenience store or supermarket. This was the only sweet thing they had. Try it.”
Xia Yin frowned playfully.
“Didn’t we already agree on the way here? Just call me Xia Yin.”
Jiang Xue couldn’t refuse again. She nodded and took the juice, opened the cap, and took a small sip. Then she held the bottle in her hand without drinking any more.
“Is she really your old classmate?” Xia Yin still found it hard to believe what Lin Yulan had said earlier.
Jiang Xue nodded.
“Yes.”
“If she’s your old classmate, then why did seeing her upset you so much? Did she do something to hurt you in the past?”
After asking, Xia Yin realized she might have overstepped and quickly apologized.
“Sorry, maybe I shouldn’t have asked that.”
But she couldn’t forget the way that Alpha had spoken. Her tone was sharp and provocative. It was obvious she wasn’t a good person. Even someone as calm and gentle as Jiang Xue had reacted strongly to her. That said a lot about her character.
“It’s alright,” Jiang Xue said softly.
“A lot of unpleasant things happened between us, but it’s probably not what you imagine. It was just ordinary conflict.”
Xia Yin rarely saw Jiang Xue looking this sad. Most of the time, her face showed little emotion. Even when she was happy, she stayed calm and reserved. Sometimes, Xia Yin couldn’t help but feel that Jiang Xue was like a lifeless doll.
But something changed when she was around that female Alpha.
For the first time, Xia Yin saw real, vivid emotion in her expression. And honestly, that made her feel a little uncomfortable.
“Ordinary conflict? Do you mean she used to bully you?”
Jiang Xue shook her head, but didn’t lift her gaze. She kept her eyes lowered.
“No. She never bullied me.”
In fact, it was the opposite. Before Ming Zelan started trying to match them together, Lin Yulan had always been on her side. Whenever someone treated her badly or disrespected her, Lin Yulan would stand up for her and put those people in their place.
If not for the marriage, they probably could have been very close friends.
But Jiang Xue didn’t want to be just friends with Lin Yulan.
“Professor Xia, let’s go back to the university.”
Seeing her tone, Xia Yin knew that no matter how many questions she asked, Jiang Xue wouldn’t answer a single one. That, in itself, confirmed her suspicions. Their conflict wasn’t just some minor disagreement. Their relationship likely went far beyond that of simple classmates.
It looked like she needed to dig into their past.
“Alright, let’s go back to campus.”
The headlights of the Mercedes lit up. Once the engine started, the car drove away from the restaurant and quickly disappeared.
Ye Jing stood by the window with her phone, clicking away at the camera. She took several shots but couldn’t capture a clear image of either of their faces. Frustrated, she cursed the two women under her breath. Even now, they were lucky enough to escape being caught. With an annoyed grunt, she turned and went back to find Lin Yulan.
“Did you get the pictures?”
Ye Jing handed over her phone.
“I tried my best, Sister Lan.”
The Mercedes had stopped right at the entrance of the restaurant. From the angle of the window, the only visible person was the one sitting in the passenger seat, and only the side of her face could be seen. To make things worse, the car’s windows weren’t transparent, so the pictures came out even more blurry. You couldn’t even tell who the person in the photo was.
If she tried to report Jiang Xue using these unclear images, she would definitely get punished by Ming Zelan. That was completely unacceptable.
“That female Alpha did it on purpose. She must have known from Jiang Xue that there was a chance of running into me tonight, so she came to pick her up in person.”
Ye Jing quickly agreed.
“Do we even need to say it? Cheating like this is something they’d obviously try to hide. That pair of shameless women must have made sure no one could photograph them. Otherwise, given your status, they would have been completely exposed and ruined.”
But if there were no photos or videos proving that Jiang Xue had something going on with another Alpha, Lin Yulan would have no grounds to demand a divorce later. It would be impossible.
“Sister Lan, even though we didn’t manage to take clear pictures or videos of them in the car, the restaurant must have security cameras.” Ye Jing gave a cold smile. “We can ask the owner for the footage. Then, along with the blurry photos I took, even if we can’t fully prove they’re having an affair, that woman’s image will be ruined in Madam Ming’s eyes. People can’t handle doubt. Once suspicion takes root, it doesn’t matter how innocent you are. No one will believe you.”
Lin Yulan thought that made perfect sense. Right now, Ming Zelan was kind to Jiang Xue only because she saw her through rose-colored glasses. If she could shatter that illusion, her mother would stop insisting on the marriage.
But how would the restaurant owner be willing to hand over the footage?
If this went poorly, the owner might think she was up to no good and call the police. That kind of embarrassment would fall on her instead.
“Sister Lan, we shouldn’t wait any longer. Let’s go ask the restaurant owner for the surveillance footage now.”
Lin Yulan hesitated for a moment but ultimately shook her head.
“No. Forget the footage. Just send me the photos you took. I’ll talk to my mother directly.”
Ye Jing could tell she had softened again. She felt that wasn’t enough. She had to stop that woman before Lin Yulan and Jiang Xue officially registered their marriage. There was no way she would let that woman take the place that should have been hers.
“Alright. Whatever you say, Sister Lan.”
