The Beautiful Older Sister I Picked Up Is Good at Flirting - Chapter 11
Chapter 11
Fang Songxian’s temper flared as she charged toward Fanzhen’s room without a care. Granny Ying firmly grabbed her and held her back. Unable to break free, Fang’s expression collapsed into outright rage. She scowled and snapped without any pretense:
“Fu Siyi, is this how your servants behave—completely without manners?”
Fu Siyi had been raised by Granny Ying since childhood and had long considered her family. She wouldn’t tolerate anyone speaking down to her.
With a chilly glance at Fang Songxian, Fu Siyi’s voice turned icy:
“And what manners is Miss Fang showing, throwing her weight around in someone else’s home?”
Fang was stunned into silence, unable to think of a comeback before Fu Siyi continued:
“Besides, since Fanzhen is someone I brought into the Fu family, then she is part of this family now. From now on, she’s staying here. She’s not going anywhere.”
Fang Songxian bristled like a cat whose tail had been stepped on:
“Hey! Fu Siyi, what are you trying to say?”
“I’m saying… I won’t let Fanzhen go with you.” Fu Siyi looked her straight in the eye, ignoring the thunderclouds darkening Fang’s face as she coldly issued a dismissal:
“Huanjie, see Miss Fang out.”
Fang Songxian clenched her teeth in frustration, but there was nothing she could do. With a huff and a final “I’ll be back tomorrow,” she stormed off, clearly unwilling but left with no choice.
Granny Ying hadn’t expected Fu Siyi to say something so… protective. She knew well how cold her young lady usually was. Yet here she was, standing up for her in front of others.
Even more surprising was her flat-out refusal to let Fanzhen go with Fang.
Granny Ying was both moved and delighted. She couldn’t help but let a smile tug at the corners of her mouth. But when Fu Siyi turned around, she quickly composed herself.
“Miss, are you going to the office today? I’ll have Ah Zhong get the car ready,” she offered.
Fu Siyi shook her head, her gaze slowly drifting toward Fanzhen’s room.
“Have Ah Zhong bring Dr. Wang over.”
Dr. Wang was the Fu family’s personal physician. At first, she assumed Fu Siyi wasn’t feeling well. But the moment she stepped into the servants’ quarters, she visibly froze in surprise.
Fu Siyi didn’t spare her a glance, simply pointed toward Fanzhen’s room.
“Auntie Wang, she’s had a persistent high fever. Please take a look.”
Dr. Wang understood immediately and followed Granny Ying into the room. About half an hour later, she came out with her medical bag.
“The patient has a respiratory infection causing the fever. It’s not going down because the body’s still in the peak phase. I’ve given her an antipyretic injection. The fever should break by tonight. Let her rest well for the next few days. Also, she’s showing signs of malnutrition—make sure she gets plenty of protein to boost her immunity.”
“Mm.” Fu Siyi acknowledged quietly and then instructed,
“Ah Zhong, take Dr. Wang home.”
After Dr. Wang left, Fu Siyi prepared to head to the office. She and Granny Ying walked down the hall, one in front of the other. Just as they passed by Fanzhen’s room, something was suddenly shoved into her arms—a washbasin.
“Miss, can I trouble you to take this in for me?” Granny Ying draped a towel over the basin as she spoke.
“I’m going to fetch some ice. I’ll be right back.”
Fu Siyi hesitated, instinctively taking a step back.
“Fanzhen’s unmarried. It’s not appropriate for me to go in…”
But Granny Ying, ever the double standard bearer when it came to her young lady, waved her off:
“What’s inappropriate about it? You’re the master of this house. Anywhere you go is appropriate.”
Without giving her a chance to argue, she pushed Fu Siyi forward.
Caught off guard, Fu Siyi stumbled into the room, basin and all. The door shut behind her with a “click.”
She stood frozen for a few seconds, clearly torn. Then, she stepped toward the small desk and gently set the basin down. Just as she turned to leave, her gaze landed unexpectedly on the sleeping figure—and stopped.
Fanzhen lay on her side on the small bed, her sleep uneasy. Her cheeks were flushed red from the fever, her eyelids tinged pink, and her soft lips glowed faintly under the bedside lamp.
She seemed to be sweating after taking medicine, and her discomfort grew. With a furrowed brow, she lifted her arm, which caused the blanket to slide down.
She was only wearing a thin nightgown—nothing underneath. Her porcelain skin, flawless and bare, was suddenly laid out in Fu Siyi’s full view.
Fu Siyi’s eyes landed on a faint flower-shaped birthmark near her chest, just visible under the translucent fabric. With every breath, the petals seemed to softly bloom and fold.
She stood frozen, her mind completely blank—except for the increasingly loud pounding of her heart, echoing up into her throat.
“Mm…” A soft moan escaped Fanzhen’s lips.
She shifted again, clearly uncomfortable in her fever. With the movement, the fullness of her chest swayed slightly, a breathtaking sight both sensual and tender.
It was like Fu Siyi had been caught in a whirlpool. She struggled to surface, finally letting out a sharp breath—only then realizing she had been holding it the whole time.
Just then, Fanzhen’s eyelashes fluttered—she was waking up.
Panicked, Fu Siyi jerked her gaze away, turning her head as her face and ears flushed crimson.
She spun around and practically bolted toward the door.
She had only taken a few steps when a voice called from behind her:
“Miss?”
It was faint and hoarse, with the fragile tone unique to the sick—but there was also a hint of confusion.
Like a soft little needle, it pierced right through Fu Siyi, stopping her in her tracks.
Her heartbeat spiked. Only now did she realize… she had stared at Fanzhen far too long.
Fanzhen pushed herself up on one elbow, unsure, and called again:
“Miss?”
Fu Siyi quickly composed herself and turned back, only to meet Fanzhen’s soft, watery almond eyes—like she was sinking into a deep pool. Her carefully arranged expression faltered slightly.
“Don’t… don’t move. Lie down and rest,” she said, voice slightly strained.
Fanzhen obediently leaned back against the bedframe, but her eyes were still full of confusion.
“Miss, why are you here?”
