The Beautiful Older Sister I Picked Up Is Good at Flirting - Chapter 20
Chapter 20
Fu Siyi slowly walked over and sat beside Nanny Ying on the steps. She turned her head to look at her.
“Granny, Aunt Wan only didn’t want to come here because she was afraid of upsetting you. It was me who insisted she come. She wanted to stay at the Candy House, but that place is right on a noisy street corner—it’s impossible to rest there at night. How can anyone live there?”
“She could’ve stayed at a hotel,” Nanny Ying retorted, visibly upset—something rarely seen in her, as she had always been respectful toward Fu Siyi. “Missy, Fu Qiangwei is your real mommy.”
“I know.” A complicated emotion flickered in Fu Siyi’s eyes. “That’s why I’ve never once called Aunt Wan ‘Mommy’ to her face. I’ve called her Auntie for over ten years.”
In the quiet night, Fu Siyi’s voice was especially low and heavy.
“But in my heart… I’ve long since considered her my mommy.”
Nanny Ying’s pupils trembled, as if her heart had taken a direct hit. She couldn’t accept Fu Siyi viewing Cen Wan as her mother.
“Missy, she’s not your biological mom—how could she ever compare…”
“Granny, what does bl00d mean in this world? Is it really everything?”
Fu Siyi gazed far off into the night sky, as though lost in memories. Her tone was airy, drifting.
“To me, my mommy will always be my mommy. But she only stayed with me until I was five… After she passed, Grandma was so grief-stricken she was bedridden, and my mom buried herself in work, barely paying attention to me. It was Aunt Wan who showed up during the loneliest time of my life. She took me to amusement parks. She’d take off her warm gloves and put them on my hands. She’d warm my milk over her heart before handing it to me…”
Fu Siyi seemed to recall something painful—her voice grew thick with sorrow, even choking slightly.
“I still hadn’t differentiated at thirteen, but my mom insisted on sending me to an Alpha girls’ school. The girls there resented me for getting in through connections. They bullied me, tricked me behind my back… When Aunt Wan found out, she charged into my classroom with a stick and told the whole class: ‘If anyone dares to bully Fu Siyi, I’ll break their legs—even if it lands me in jail.’”
“In that moment, I already saw her as my mommy.”
Nanny Ying’s expression was full of disdain.
“Missy, she only treated you well to seduce your father—it was all an act.”
“Acting for a day, sure. Ten days, maybe. But for over ten years? Are you still calling that an act?”
Fu Siyi turned slowly and gently grasped Nanny Ying’s hand, pressing lightly on the thick calluses in her palm.
“Granny, I know everything you’ve done is for the Fu family. And you’ve always genuinely cared for me. I’ve always… seen you as family too.”
Nanny Ying never expected Fu Siyi to say such things, and it moved her deeply. She remained seated, but the furrow in her brow slowly eased.
“I see you as family, and I see Aunt Wan as family, too. For our sake, she’s already completely cut ties with her own parents. She has nowhere else to go. I have a responsibility to care for her for the rest of her life.”
Fu Siyi patted the back of Nanny Ying’s hand and stood up.
“Granny, Aunt Wan has had a tough life too. Please don’t make things harder for her, okay?”
Though Nanny Ying still couldn’t fully accept Cen Wan, her stance was no longer as firm.
With a sigh, she muttered, “Since the young miss says so, what can an old servant like me say? I’ll follow orders. But don’t expect me to serve her—not in this lifetime.”
Fu Siyi knew she was all bark and no bite. She broke into a sudden smile.
“You’re the housekeeper of the Fu residence. Staffing arrangements are all up to you.”
In the end, Nanny Ying couldn’t bear to see Fu Siyi torn in two directions and relented a little.
“Fine, fine. I’ll get Sister Huan to prepare a guest room in the main house for her.”
Just as she finished saying that, she paused and looked at Fu Siyi with hopeful eyes.
“Missy, all the rooms in the main house are empty. If only you could find an Omega soon and have a few kids, the house would be lively again… Hey hey hey, I’m not done talking—don’t walk away!”
Nanny Ying normally didn’t talk much, but once she switched into matchmaking mode, she could ramble on endlessly. Fu Siyi’s scalp tingled, and she dashed out of sight like she was escaping, walking so fast she didn’t notice the pair of red, tear-swollen eyes hiding behind the hallway pillar.
Cen Wan had left her phone in the car. As she returned through the corridor from the parking lot, she happened to overhear Fu Siyi’s entire conversation. In an instant, her emotional defenses crumbled.
All these years, she had quietly stayed by Fu Weirong’s side, tending to Fu Siyi’s every need. She had rejected every blind date her parents arranged for her, even enduring social and familial isolation—just so she could remain by their side.
But in the end, Fu Weirong still never gave her a proper place in their lives.
Cen Wan had been disappointed—she had even felt bitter resentment.
But upon hearing Fu Siyi say she saw her as her mother, she was genuinely moved to tears.
All the grievance and unwillingness she had bottled up… in that moment, became worth it.
Such a good little Siyi—how could she let her be caught in the middle?
Cen Wan rubbed her eyes hard, waiting until the redness had faded a bit before stepping out from behind the pillar and slowly walking toward Nanny Ying.
Nanny Ying held a newspaper in her hands, her thoughts absorbed in the front-page “Missing Person” notice, unaware someone was behind her.
“Ahem…” Cen Wan deliberately made a sound.
Nanny Ying raised her head, casting a cold glance her way. Cen Wan wasn’t intimidated in the slightest—in fact, she chuckled softly.
“Housekeeper Ying, what a mood you’re in—still reading the paper at this hour.”
Nanny Ying turned away icily, refusing to engage.
Cen Wan stepped down onto the stairs and casually sat beside her, letting out a mysterious little laugh.
Nanny Ying couldn’t help but snap, “What are you laughing at?”
Cen Wan brushed the hair from her face, revealing her stunning, charming features. She curved her lips into a subtle smile.
“The old madam instructed you on her deathbed to find an Omega with both virtue and talent for Siyi… I’m laughing at how poorly she entrusted the task.”
Nanny Ying scowled. Her whole face scrunched up as she barked, “You’re not worthy to mention the old madam. Bah! Seductress.”
But instead of getting angry, Cen Wan leaned in even closer—almost cheek to cheek. Her gaze drifted downward as she let out a curious “Hmm?”
“How come the heiress of the Huo family hasn’t been found yet?”
Nanny Ying flinched—clearly intrigued by the mention.
“You know the Huo family of Yuan Country?”
Cen Wan adjusted her sitting posture and replied calmly,
“Of course. I have a classmate from Yuan Country. I visited recently and heard that the Huo heiress had a falling-out with her father and ran away from home. Still hasn’t been found.”
“She’s quite popular in Yuan Country—every powerful family wants her as a daughter-in-law.”
“She’s not only beautiful and talented, but also gentle and humble. What’s even more admirable is how low-key she is. If it weren’t for the Huo family launching a massive search across Su Country and the media secretly reporting it, most people wouldn’t have known she’s been quietly doing charity work all this time.”
Cen Wan paused, then looked directly into Nanny Ying’s eyes, her eyes arching into crescents.
“Tell me, Housekeeper Ying… wouldn’t it be wonderful if such an outstanding Omega became the young madam of the Fu family?”
For once, Nanny Ying agreed with her.
“Of course it would be. But our young miss just doesn’t get it when it comes to love. What can we do but worry?”
Cen Wan’s eyes gleamed with mischief.
“First, we need to help her realize what kind of Omega she likes… Come closer, I’ll teach you what to do.”
Nanny Ying rolled her eyes at her, but still leaned in honestly.
Cen Wan bent close to her ear and whispered. Nanny Ying’s expression shifted from confusion to shock.
“Will that really work? What if it backfires?”
Cen Wan gave her a friendly pat on the shoulder.
“Trust me. Just get ready to welcome the young madam home.”
