The Beautiful Older Sister I Picked Up Is Good at Flirting - Chapter 8
Chapter 8
Fang Songxian withdrew her hand from Fu Siyi’s shoulder and switched to a shoulder massage mode. “Can you… give Fanzhen to me?”
Everyone: !!!
Fu Siyi’s expression instantly turned icy. “Fang Songxian, Fanzhen is a person with dignity, not some object to be passed around at will!”
“Okay, okay, I said it wrong, don’t be mad.” Fang Songxian doubled down on her shoulder massage. “So when will you let her go?”
Fu Siyi swatted her hand away forcefully and glared coldly. “Do you even understand what respect means? Fanzhen’s future is her own to decide. Who are we to make choices for her?”
Fang Songxian made no secret of her obsession with beauty and her flirtatious nature. “I just can’t bear to see such a pretty girl work as a maid. If she’s willing to come with me, I’ll help her solve her residency issue, buy her a house, give her the most expensive jewelry… whatever she wants, I’ll give it to her. I’ll spoil her like a princess.”
Ai Qing stood there, dumbfounded, before awkwardly squeezing into the conversation. “Songxian, are you thinking of marrying her? Sure, Fanzhen is beautiful, but she’s a Beta. Would your mommy ever agree to let a Beta into the family?”
Fang Songxian answered without hesitation, “So what? Isn’t there that phrase, ‘marriage by pregnancy’? Betas aren’t easily pregnant, but it’s not impossible. As long as she gets pregnant, my mommy will have to agree…”
“Fang Songxian!” Fu Siyi couldn’t hold it anymore and cut her off. “If you really respect Fanzhen, you should be working together with her to prove her worth to your mom—not letting her face the fear of the future alone.”
“I just like her so much…” Fang Songxian’s sparkle dimmed. She looked at Fu Siyi with pleading eyes. “Siyi, I really want to take Fanzhen in. Can you help me ask her if she’s willing to come with me?”
Ai Qing stretched out her hand, “Wait, I want to take Fanzhen in too… I can also help her with her residency.”
Everyone else: “We want to take in Fanzhen too!”
At this moment, Fanzhen had no idea she’d become such a hot commodity. When she pushed the meal cart back into the lounge, she was instantly surrounded like a beloved star.
“Miss Fanzhen, are you thirsty? Want some orange juice?”
“Miss Fanzhen, have mine—mine’s sweeter…”
Fang Songxian shoved the others aside and leaned in close, her bright, flawless face filling Huo Fanzhen’s field of view. “We’ve caused you trouble and made you work so hard. We really don’t want to… I mean, we really feel bad… Sister Fanzhen…”
Everyone: ???
Sister?
Miss… Sister…
That single word shift gave Fang Songxian the upper hand. “Sister, I’m Fang Songxian, Fu Siyi’s classmate. I’m 24. My family’s in pharmaceuticals, but instead of joining the family company after graduation, I started my own business. I now own three bars…”
Fang Songxian was like a peacock in full display, showing off her gorgeous feathers before Fanzhen. The others weren’t willing to be outdone and all rushed to introduce themselves.
Huo Fanzhen: ???
What is going on? Why are they telling her all this out of nowhere?
What kind of game are these rich heiresses playing?
Instinctively, Fanzhen turned to glance at Fu Siyi. She was holding a wine glass, gently swirling the liquid, staring at it with a blank look—lost in thought.
Feeling her gaze, Fu Siyi looked up. Their eyes met under the soft lighting.
Fu Siyi couldn’t quite describe the feeling. It was just an ordinary glance—but the plea for help in Fanzhen’s eyes hit her like a jolt.
Fu Siyi said nothing, and Fanzhen couldn’t figure out what was happening. She stood frozen, unsure of what to do, until Aunt Ying’s sharp voice called from behind, “Fanzhen! Did you sign the invoice for the greenhouse flowers yesterday? Bring it to me!”
“Yes, ma’am!”
Fanzhen took another glance at Fu Siyi. Seeing her still cold and aloof, she asked cautiously, “Miss, may I go do my tasks now?”
Fu Siyi replied blandly, “Go ahead.”
Fanzhen gave everyone a polite nod and pushed the meal cart out of the lounge.
Once she left, Fang Songxian immediately sidled up to Fu Siyi and grinned. “Siyi, I heard you’re planning to collaborate with the biggest trading company in Italy. My aunt works at the Italian Customs Authority—I can help you make connections.”
Ai Qing scoffed dryly, “Please. Does Siyi need your help? Xia Yicheng already paved the way for her—otherwise…”
Before she could finish, Fu Siyi abruptly stood up. Her sudden movement knocked over the wine glass on the coffee table. With a loud crash, shards of glass scattered everywhere.
Everyone in the room jumped, and all the laughter and chatter instantly died down. All eyes turned to Fu Siyi.
She stood tall and straight, her lashes lowered, a chilling aura radiating from her body.
After a long silence, her voice suddenly rose in pitch: “I don’t need anyone’s help!”
Since taking over the company, Fu Siyi had shown extraordinary business talent. She integrated capital strategies with innovation, boosting quarterly revenue by 30% in just six months.
But business always involved dealing with familiar faces. Fu Siyi wasn’t some arrogant snob. If a collaboration benefited the group, she never refused.
Since the start of the partnership with the Xia Corporation, she had personally reviewed every single proposal—sometimes still working at 3 a.m.
But in the eyes of her classmates, all that effort was ignored. They reduced it all to simple nepotism.
How could she not be angry?
Ai Qing, having known Fu Siyi for decades, had never seen her lose her temper like this. She stood there awkwardly, as the air in the room turned stiff and silent.
Meanwhile, Huo Fanzhen was about to enter the elevator with the cart when she heard the sound of glass shattering from the lounge. Then she vaguely heard Fu Siyi’s raised voice, like she was furious.
Her mind buzzed. Her first thought was: Someone’s fighting in the lounge!
Her imagination kicked in: What if Miss Fu is hurt?
Without a second thought, Fanzhen ran back. Just before reaching the lounge, she caught a whiff of agarwood and sandalwood pheromones in the air.
The scent brushed against her nose, triggering a wave of heat throughout her body. Her breathing grew rapid and uneven.
Fanzhen was confused. There were multiple Alpha women in that room—so why could she only smell Fu Siyi’s pheromones?
Aren’t high-grade scent blockers supposed to neutralize all Alpha pheromones?
Why couldn’t Fu Siyi’s be blocked?
Her instinct told her to get away.
But… no matter what, Fu Siyi took her in when she had nowhere else to go. She was her benefactor.
If her benefactor was in danger, how could she just walk away?
With that thought, Fanzhen pushed through the dense fog of scent and charged into the lounge. Everyone stared in surprise as she rushed straight to Fu Siyi’s side, slightly out of breath. “Miss, are you okay?”
Fu Siyi stared at her blankly for a few seconds, then shook her head, stunned.
Seeing she was fine, Fanzhen relaxed, offering her a smile. Her long lashes curled gently like crescent moons.
Fu Siyi’s heart skipped again.
The second time today. That same shaky, weightless feeling, like a half-full bottle of soda fizzing quietly inside her.
As Fanzhen’s nerves settled, her senses came back online—and she smelled that agarwood scent again.
An Alpha’s pheromones had a seductive quality, silently clinging to her. When she tried to walk away, she realized her legs had gone soft.
Panic rose in her chest. She fought hard to stay upright, but within seconds, she slumped into Fu Siyi’s arms.
Startled, Fu Siyi instinctively reached out to catch her.
Fanzhen weakly grabbed the fabric at Fu Siyi’s waist, leaning against her chest, panting softly.
With confusion in her eyes, Fu Siyi looked down at the flush on Fanzhen’s cheeks. Her lashes trembled rapidly—clearly nervous.
Fearing she’d been found out, Fanzhen quickly activated a coping mechanism.
She took Fu Siyi’s hand and turned it over, checking every finger with exaggerated concern. “Miss, you’re really okay? Not hurt, right?”
That way, people would think she collapsed because she was too worried about Fu Siyi—not because she was reacting to pheromones.
Fu Siyi’s gaze paused. Before she could react, her fingers were already being cradled and examined. When she tried to close her hand, Fanzhen firmly reopened it, flipping it again and again. “No injuries, right?”
Fu Siyi’s fingers were pale and slender, her knuckles distinct. Holding them brought an odd sense of calm.
Fanzhen tried to steady her thundering heart and waited for the Alpha’s pheromones to fade.
Watching her fall into Fu Siyi’s arms had already rattled Fang Songxian’s heart. Now seeing her gently holding Fu Siyi’s hand, she couldn’t take it anymore and stepped forward, eyes full of disbelief.
Maybe it was Fang Songxian’s intense gaze, but Fu Siyi quickly pulled her hand away. “I’m fine. Not hurt.”
As she said this, her ears quietly turned red.
