The Black Lotus Omega Always Wraps His Tail Around Me (GL, ABO) - Chapter 11
Just as everyone froze in shock from the accident, only Abu pushed through the crowd and rushed forward. As she ran, she shouted,
“Safety officer! Where is the safety officer? Suihe-jie can’t swim!”
Her cry snapped everyone out of their daze. People immediately rushed over to help.
To maintain realism in the scene, they had chosen a real lake for filming, and it was not shallow. Amid the splashing, Fu Suihe’s figure began to sink deeper and deeper.
The safety officer who had gone into the water was being held back by Momo, who was anxiously urging him to return to shore quickly.
By the time Momo was carried back to land, Fu Suihe had already disappeared completely beneath the water.
In a panic, Abu grabbed a swim ring and jumped into the lake without hesitation.
The scene became completely chaotic. Momo looked like she had swallowed some water and lay by the shore, coughing nonstop.
The lifeguards were frantically running back and forth.
Standing off to the side, Ji Yanwan frowned slightly. She watched Momo cough and choke, but nothing seemed to come out. Disgust briefly flickered in her eyes.
She nudged Meng Jiayu on the shoulder and asked,
“Aren’t you going to comfort her?”
Meng Jiayu shook her head and smiled slightly.
“I’m just watching the show. I won’t interrupt her performance.”
Ji Yanwan didn’t say anything else. She simply stood there, frowning as she watched the rescue effort.
Finally, after the safety officer dove down a second time, he pulled up a pale figure from the water.
Fu Suihe was laid on the shore. Her eyes were tightly shut, and both her face and lips were deathly pale.
The medical team rushed over with their emergency kit and immediately began CPR.
Abu sat to the side in a daze, crying uncontrollably.
What surprised Ji Yanwan was that once Momo got up, many of her staff members quickly surrounded her. Even some of the background actors came over to check on her.
In contrast, Fu Suihe had only Abu by her side, crying helplessly.
Because of the unexpected situation, the director suspended filming and hurriedly went around checking on the two actresses.
Feeling uneasy, Ji Yanwan asked quietly,
“Should we call an ambulance? She is a Best Actress after all. This is getting out of hand.”
Meng Jiayu sighed and replied,
“Being a Best Actress doesn’t matter. In this industry of fame and fortune, without support, a person is no different from a weed growing by the roadside.”
She gave Ji Yanwan a playful glance.
“Don’t tell me you’re really falling for Fu Suihe?”
Meng Jiayu turned to look at her, her expression more serious now.
“Ah Wan, it’s fine to play around. But once you start getting emotionally involved with something meant to be a toy, that’s where trouble begins.”
Ji Yanwan was taken aback by her words.
“I’m not like you. Fu Suihe and I have nothing between us. Our relationship is clean and proper. Don’t twist it into something dirty.”
“Then explain your reaction,” Meng Jiayu said calmly.
“Logically speaking, after Fu Suihe offended you the first time, you would have dealt with her in secret. But you didn’t. You tolerated her all the way until now.”
“You say you’re not interested, but the moment Momo tested you, you got upset.”
Ji Yanwan caught the implication immediately. Her voice turned cold.
“You told Momo to do this?”
Meng Jiayu shrugged casually.
“It was just a joke. Don’t tell me a good drama handed to you on a silver platter isn’t worth watching. Unless you’re planning to get involved for real.”
“Are you seriously joking with someone’s life?” Ji Yanwan was provoked by her words and suddenly felt a wave of defiance. She let out a cold laugh.
“I wasn’t planning to get involved, but now you’ve made me want to help her even more.”
Meng Jiayu was just about to explain herself when Ji Yanwan pushed past the people in front of her and walked straight toward the rescue team.
Under the repeated chest compressions, Fu Suihe finally coughed up her first mouthful of water. More and more followed as her body struggled to breathe again.
Just as Ji Yanwan squeezed through the crowd, her eyes met Fu Suihe’s.
Fu Suihe’s entire face was pale from nearly drowning, but her eyes were bloodshot from all the violent coughing. Those red eyes looked straight at Ji Yanwan with a burning intensity.
Those clear eyes were now brimming with tears. As Fu Suihe met Ji Yanwan’s gaze, the tears silently slipped down her cheeks.
Her crying came suddenly, but it was quiet, her small sobs completely hidden by Ji Yanwan standing in front of her.
At first, she let out faint, broken whimpers. When she realized no one was paying attention, her lips finally trembled, and she began to cry in earnest.
Ji Yanwan felt a pang of sympathy. She slowly knelt down beside her, wrapped her arms around Fu Suihe, and gently patted her back.
In a soft voice, she comforted her,
“There, there. You’re safe now. You’re back on shore. Everything’s okay.”
Hearing those words, Fu Suihe could no longer hold back her emotions. She raised her arms and clung to Ji Yanwan’s neck, like a frightened child finding shelter in the arms of a trusted adult. She finally let herself cry out loud.
Her body was soaked, and Ji Yanwan could feel her trembling as she wept. Without hesitation, Ji Yanwan lifted her into her arms.
“Where is her trailer?” Ji Yanwan asked, pulling Fu Suihe’s head closer into her chest to shield her tear-streaked face from view.
Abu, moved by her gesture, immediately stood up and said,
“Over there. I’ll take you.”
Ji Yanwan followed her while holding Fu Suihe. As they passed Momo, Ji Yanwan shot her a cold glance, then walked away without a word.
Momo, who had been pretending to cough while lying on the ground, was so startled by that look that she forgot to keep coughing.
She watched Ji Yanwan carrying Fu Suihe off into the distance, then turned to glance at Meng Jiayu, who stood quietly among the crowd.
But Meng Jiayu, sensing her gaze, only gave her a faint smile. She made no move to come forward or comfort her.
Momo was filled with frustration and panic. She grabbed the arm of her assistant, pinching it repeatedly in silent anger.
