The Black Lotus Omega Always Wraps His Tail Around Me (GL, ABO) - Chapter 6
A Kiss Meant They Were in Love?
Ji Yanwan’s lips twitched slightly. Was this really the time or place for something like that? Sharing a kiss with someone else’s fiancée to prove a relationship didn’t seem appropriate.
She turned around to look at the person still holding her hand.
Fu Suihe wasn’t short, but standing beside her made her appear especially small and delicate.
Across the entire venue, even with a blank expression and a distant stare, Fu Suihe still drew attention with her striking beauty.
She didn’t have the sharp-edged features of Ji Mingtao or the fragile aura that clung to Ji Hesong. Her presence was different.
Ji Yanwan thought of what Meng Jiayu had once said about Fu Suihe’s past. Her gaze became more curious, her interest in the girl deepening.
What kind of person was Fu Suihe, really?
Her curiosity was written plainly on her face. Fu Suihe noticed her gaze and slowly looked up to meet Ji Yanwan’s eyes.
Their eyes locked once again.
Ji Yanwan saw that the sparkle in Fu Suihe’s eyes from earlier, the same eyes that had leaned in for a kiss, had faded.
The faint smile on her lips had frozen. Her face now showed clear confusion and sadness. She looked like a child who had lost her way, standing at a crossroads with no idea where to go.
The reporters nearby quickly noticed the tension and awkwardness between them and immediately turned their cameras toward the two.
But just before the shutters clicked, Fu Suihe let go of Ji Yanwan’s hand and silently stepped back.
That one small step shifted the focus entirely away from Ji Yanwan.
All the attention and gossip fell on Fu Suihe like a crashing wave, surrounding her completely.
Ji Yanwan hadn’t expected her to do that. As the cameras turned, she noticed the eyes and whispers from the crowd beginning to stir.
“Is the Cheng family breaking off the engagement?”
“Didn’t you notice? Not a single member of the Fu family showed up today.”
“If it had been Fu Yunkai getting engaged, this wouldn’t have happened.”
“Fu Suihe is just a pawn. Has the Fu family ever really valued her?”
“She’s just a cheap little entertainer they put on display. When they realized she wasn’t useful, they abandoned her.”
“What a waste of that face. Who knows what people like her get up to in the entertainment industry? The Cheng family breaking off the engagement makes perfect sense.”
“They didn’t even prepare seriously. Look at her. Her shoes don’t even fit.”
Most of the guests were wealthy and influential. Many had come just to see a scandal unfold, so they spoke with clear disdain and no effort to hide their contempt.
Not even their voices were lowered.
Following their line of sight, Ji Yanwan glanced down. Beneath the hem of Fu Suihe’s gown, there was a faint hint of red around her pale ankle.
Fu Suihe’s high heels were not only tall but the wrong size. Too much walking had left her with torn skin. Now, bl00d had soaked into the white shoes, the red against the white painfully clear.
Ji Yanwan frowned and looked up at the girl who was now surrounded.
The reporters’ questions were becoming increasingly sharp. Some were bold enough to mention Cheng Mo’s real romantic involvement.
“Miss Fu, are you the third party in this relationship?”
“If you knew Mr. Cheng already had a partner, why did you still agree to the engagement?”
The black lenses of the cameras seemed like the gaping mouths of monsters. The reporters holding their microphones looked no different.
Fu Suihe’s face grew paler by the second. Her white teeth bit down hard on her lip, and her eyes showed nothing but helplessness.
Ji Yanwan let out a cold laugh and turned her gaze toward the engagement sign behind her.
The photo showed two people who looked like complete strangers, forced to stand together.
Earlier, Cheng Qi had been here maintaining order, but now there was no sign of her. Cheng Mo had already run off with his girlfriend.
Fu Suihe was the only one left, forced to face the humiliation and harsh questions alone.
Her complexion was getting worse. Her once bright and captivating eyes had lost all color, and tears shimmered faintly in the corners.
Ji Yanwan could no longer sit still.
Beside her, Ji Mingtao noticed how tightly her hand was clenched. The alpha’s emotions were slipping, and her cold cedar-scented pheromones had begun to leak.
Ji Mingtao frowned slightly and gently tapped Ji Yanwan on the shoulder.
Snapped out of her thoughts, Ji Yanwan realized she had lost control. She looked down at her palm, which now had shallow marks from how hard she had been gripping it.
What am I doing?
She shook her head and forced down the feelings of pity rising in her chest.
Fu Suihe was just the target of her mission. Simply put, she was a non-playable character. She couldn’t let herself feel anything for an NPC.
Realizing she had let her emotions slip, Ji Yanwan muttered an apology under her breath.
Noticing her shift in mood, Ji Hesong leaned in and whispered something to Ji Mingtao.
Ji Mingtao stood up and said, “The show’s over. Let’s go.”
Ji Hesong gave her a small smile and spoke softly, “Come on. Let’s go home.”
Now fully composed, Ji Yanwan made a decision. She would try letting go of the mission. She nodded and followed her two older sisters as they left the venue.
Still surrounded by people, Fu Suihe stared at their retreating figures. Her brows knitted together.
The helplessness and confusion in her eyes vanished. Her gaze remained locked in the direction Ji Yanwan had gone.
Why? She had clearly seen sympathy in that alpha’s eyes. She had even smelled her pheromones spilling out from emotional loss of control.
So why did she suddenly walk away? Had she revealed too much?
Fu Suihe looked down at her ankle. The adjusted hem of her gown had been just short enough to reveal her injury. Was the bl00d not noticeable enough?
The reporters around her continued to bombard her with questions. Fu Suihe forced herself to stay calm and kept playing the role of the pitiful victim.
Meanwhile, Cheng Qi, who had run off to chase after Cheng Mo, returned alone and appeared at the entrance.
The deep furrow in her brow made it clear that she had not caught up with him.
Fu Suihe understood immediately. She gave a subtle signal to the reporter standing closest to her.
Within moments, the cameras that had been locked on her all turned toward the entrance.
Cheng Qi instinctively wanted to frown as the cameras turned toward her, but she forced a smile and walked forward.
“Is the engagement between the Cheng and Fu families just a publicity stunt?”
“No one from the Fu family is here. Was this marriage one-sided from the Cheng family all along?”
“Cheng Mo’s girlfriend showed up unannounced. Was that part of the Cheng family’s plan?”
A series of sharp questions came at Cheng Qi. Already irritated, her mood worsened.
Her eyes met someone standing quietly behind the reporters. For a moment, she thought she saw Fu Suihe, the woman who had appeared helpless earlier, slightly curve her lips in a faint smile.
The reporters got no response but kept holding out their microphones and cameras.
Guests sitting nearby also turned to watch the drama unfold, curious to see how this farce would end.
Facing the aggressive questions, Cheng Qi gave a soft laugh. “That’s right. Our Cheng family put in a lot of effort for this engagement. How did things turn out like this? Who really had a change of heart?”
“Cheng Qi, I don’t understand.” Fu Suihe lowered her eyes, her expression full of sorrow. “Why did no one tell me that Cheng Mo already had someone he loved?”
Cheng Qi hadn’t expected her to bring that up so directly. She frowned. “This is modern times. Young people are free to love before marriage. I couldn’t interfere.”
Fu Suihe continued, “Then if the engagement with the Fu family was sincere, why let someone interrupt it?”
“Or was this whole thing arranged by you, Cheng Qi?”
“What are you trying to say, Miss Fu?” Cheng Qi’s anger flared. “Then tell me, why didn’t a single member of the Fu family attend? Do they think we’re beneath them?”
“Or perhaps, you already found a better option. Someone more powerful than my Cheng family?”
Fu Suihe shook her head in disbelief, biting her lip hard. Her eyes were misty. “I just… I just think you shouldn’t have kept this from me…”
Cheng Qi looked at her and then glanced at the nearby reporters still filming.
Frustration bubbling over, she stopped holding back. “And you’re so innocent? Weren’t you the one seen in photos with Ji Yanwan? Who knows if this whole situation today wasn’t something the two of you staged?”
“Who staged it with who?”
The voice was cold and emotionless.
At the sound, all cameras swung toward the entrance. A woman leaned casually against the doorway, a few strands of long hair falling over her chest. Her eyes were hidden behind metal-framed glasses, making it hard to read her expression.
Cheng Qi turned around quickly, surprised to see who had appeared.
Ji Yanwan stepped inside slowly. “If I hadn’t come back to pick up something I dropped, I wouldn’t have known your Cheng family was so quick to pin all this on me.”
Standing among the crowd, Fu Suihe’s eyes lit up when she saw her return.
She closed her eyes tightly, then twisted her injured foot even harder. The earlier abrasion split open into a deeper wound, and bl00d began to flow freely.
The pain surged through her entire body. She gasped softly.
Ji Yanwan was now standing in front of the reporters. She gave a mocking smile. “If the Ji family arranged this so-called trap, then what exactly were we trying to gain?”
Cheng Qi realized she had spoken out of turn and opened her mouth to explain, but a soft sigh came from behind.
As the familiar scent of orchid drifted through the air, Ji Yanwan turned her gaze to the one it belonged to.
Fu Suihe’s face was bloodless, and her lips were pale from being bitten repeatedly.
She stood there alone, looking like a stray cat at the edge of the road, small and easily ignored, vulnerable to being stepped on by anyone.
Ji Yanwan looked down. What had only been a minor injury earlier was now bleeding openly.
Whether it was the influence of pheromones or simply how pitiful Fu Suihe looked, something stirred in Ji Yanwan’s chest. She pushed through the reporters and walked toward the girl who had been left alone.
When she stood beside her, she clearly felt Fu Suihe relax a little, like she had found safety.
Did she see her as a protector? That sense of being trusted and relied upon made Ji Yanwan feel a strange sense of responsibility.
Cheng Qi noticed no one from the Ji family had followed. Gaining some confidence, she asked again, “You say there was no scheme. Then why did you come back? Can you honestly say nothing happened between you and Fu Suihe?”
Ji Yanwan gave a cold laugh. “Before demanding others stay pure, maybe you should ask yourself what kind of person you are.”
“Then what are you doing here? Are you here to provoke the Cheng family?”
Just as Ji Yanwan opened her mouth to respond, she felt a soft tug at the hem of her dress. Turning around, she met a pair of tear-filled eyes.
Fu Suihe spoke softly, “Cheng Qi, why must you drag Ah Wan into this? If you’re angry, take it out on me.”
Cheng Qi sneered. “You think too highly of yourself. That weak act of yours might work on your brainless fans, but who else would fall for it?”
Fu Suihe lowered her eyes. A single tear slid down her cheek.
A warm tingling sensation spread across Ji Yanwan’s lower back. The system’s voice rang in her head again, signaling a completed task.
Looking at the pitiful girl in front of her, Ji Yanwan felt something twist inside her. She gently lifted Fu Suihe’s chin.
Her eyelashes were soaked with tears. The fear in her eyes made her look just like a newborn kitten.
Ji Yanwan slowly leaned down and kissed the lips that had been bitten until they were swollen and red.
As their lips met, the faint scent of orchid lingered in the air. The lips beneath hers were warm from the constant biting. Fueled by the pheromones, Ji Yanwan, who had intended to give only a light kiss, suddenly deepened it.
Her tongue slipped past parted teeth, wrapping around Fu Suihe’s own in a fierce and assertive dance.
Everyone presents froze, unsure of how to react.
The system prompt had already confirmed the mission was complete, but Ji Yanwan was reluctant to pull away.
She tasted deeply before finally letting go.
As she stepped back, Fu Suihe gave a soft, almost inaudible whimper. Her knees buckled slightly, and Ji Yanwan caught her in her arms.
Holding her close, Ji Yanwan raised her eyes and met Cheng Qi’s stare. With a cold and defiant smile, she said clearly,
“You still have me.”
