The Black Lotus Omega Always Wraps His Tail Around Me (GL, ABO) - Chapter 7
The guests who had been happily watching the drama unfold were now stunned into silence.
The reporters invited by Fu Suihe looked at one another, clearly unsure of what to do next.
Standing off to the side, Cheng Qi was so furious her face had turned pale with rage.
What was supposed to be a mutually beneficial engagement banquet had turned into a full-blown scandal.
Ji Yanwan slowly came back to her senses. She looked at the girl nestled shyly in her arms and finally realized what she had just done.
The powerful presence she had shown earlier wavered slightly.
Cheng Qi gritted her teeth and snapped, “Ji Yanwan, are you trying to provoke me?”
For no clear reason, Ji Yanwan felt irritated. The fierceness that had dimmed a moment ago reignited in her eyes, this time sharper and colder.
“And who do you think you are?”
The blatant challenge in her words caught many by surprise.
Rumor had it that Ji Yanwan, the third daughter of the Ji family, was lazy, indulgent, obsessed with beauty and drink, and constantly in trouble alongside Meng Jiayu, the fourth of the Meng family.
It was also a well-known secret that although Ji Yanwan stirred up trouble, she feared consequences even more. Whatever trouble she caused, her two older sisters always had to clean up after her.
But the person now standing at the center of the storm held her head high, back straight, scanning the crowd with a sharp gaze that made everyone feel small.
Behind the cold glint of her glasses, her eyes were full of disdain.
Someone used to being timid couldn’t suddenly fake this kind of confidence.
Cheng Qi had assumed Ji Yanwan would back down after being confronted and had been ready to pin the blame on her.
But the woman before her was no longer the same as before.
Ji Yanwan leaned down and whispered something into Fu Suihe’s ear. Then, without another word, she turned and picked her up.
With everyone watching, she walked out holding Fu Suihe in her arms.
Even after their figures disappeared, Cheng Qi was still trembling with anger. She turned on the reporters and shouted, “What are you waiting for? Take pictures! This is a huge story!”
But the reporters, who had been snapping photos nonstop just moments ago, hesitated and didn’t move.
The onlookers who had been enjoying the show suddenly turned their attention elsewhere, pretending not to see or hear anything.
After all, no matter how much money or power they had, no one dared offend the Ji family, the most powerful of the four great clans.
Ji Yanwan carried Fu Suihe all the way downstairs.
As if it had been waiting, a black van quickly pulled up. A head popped out from the window.
“Miss Suihe! What happened?” her assistant, Abu, cried out in alarm.
Fu Suihe, who had been resting her head against Ji Yanwan’s neck, looked up when she heard the voice.
Her lips brushed against Ji Yanwan’s neck, lightly stroking the alpha’s dormant scent glands in just the right way.
That warm touch and gentle breath felt like feathers brushing Ji Yanwan’s heart, leaving a faint tingle.
She faltered slightly, her breath catching.
Noticing this, Fu Suihe curved her lips into a small smile and let Abu help her into the van.
Once she was seated, she turned back to Ji Yanwan and said, “Thank you for what you did today.”
Before she could even settle in, Abu had already crouched down to remove her shoes.
Because she had twisted her ankle earlier and stood for too long, the skin had stuck to the shoe. When Abu pulled it off, the motion tore open the wound, making Fu Suihe let out a small cry of pain.
Ji Yanwan frowned at the sight. She had thought it was just a scrape but now saw bruising around the ankle as well.
Why would there be bruising from just a blister?
Sensing her gaze, Fu Suihe lowered her head. “I’ve never worn heels before. They don’t just rub; I also keep twisting my ankle.”
Abu looked at her, clearly heartbroken. “Why put yourself through this? If your fans found out, they’d be so upset.”
Fu Suihe let out a self-deprecating laugh. “As long as it doesn’t get out, no one will know. If I don’t show the wounds, it doesn’t exist.”
Her voice trembled slightly, maybe from the pain. It carried a softness that was difficult to ignore.
“Only your fans care?”
Ji Yanwan’s voice came out suddenly, catching both Fu Suihe and Abu by surprise.
Abu frowned. “Miss Suihe isn’t like you, Miss Ji. You have sisters to back you up. She has no one.”
“Abu,” Fu Suihe gently interrupted and helped her stand. “I know you care about me, but some things shouldn’t be said. And besides…”
She looked up and met Ji Yanwan’s eyes, offering her a gentle smile.
“If it hadn’t been for you today, I might still be stuck in that place until dark.”
Her eyes were already bright by nature, but with tears still clinging to them, they shone even clearer and softer.
“As a thank-you, let me take you home. It seems hard to get a ride around here,” Fu Suihe offered, blinking up at her with innocent eyes.
Ji Yanwan didn’t dare meet her gaze. Staring at the floor, she replied firmly, “That’s not necessary. I’ll call Meng Jiayu to pick me up.”
With just that one sentence, the sparkle in Fu Suihe’s eyes instantly dimmed. The corners of her mouth drooped slightly.
Abu quickly jumped in. “Miss Ji, you helped her earlier. Please let her return the favor, or she’ll definitely keep thinking about how to repay you.”
Ji Yanwan didn’t say anything at first. She glanced at Fu Suihe, who had lowered her head, looking like a kitten that had just been refused a pat.
She couldn’t help but smile, stepped closer, and got into the car.
A figure in green sat down next to her, and then Ji Yanwan felt a gentle hand pat her on the head.
Fu Suihe looked up in surprise, her eyes lighting up again. “Ah Cheng, take us to Wanguo Huafu.”
Ji Yanwan paused, her hand still mid-air. “How did you know where I live?”
Abu answered for her. “That’s the Ji family’s latest luxury residence. When it first opened, you invited Miss Fu to move in next door.”
Ji Yanwan raised her brows slightly and stopped asking.
She already regretted reaching out to touch Fu Suihe’s head. Now, hearing Abu say that, it was clear she had probably flirted with her even before arriving in this world.
So she shifted slightly, intentionally putting some distance between them.
The car grew quiet. Abu took out a first aid kit and began tending to Fu Suihe’s injuries.
When the alcohol touched the wound, Fu Suihe inhaled sharply.
Ji Yanwan glanced at the open kit. It was well-stocked, but most of the items had already been used.
Did Fu Suihe get hurt often?
Realizing she was letting her thoughts wander again, Ji Yanwan looked away and focused elsewhere.
The driver was steady, and the quiet lull of the ride made Ji Yanwan feel drowsy.
Just as she closed her eyes to rest, a tingling sensation brushed against her neck.
Startled, Ji Yanwan’s eyes flew open, and she grabbed the hand that touched her.
Its owner let out a soft gasp, the sound laced with pain and a bit of pitiful whimpering.
Ji Yanwan frowned and released her grip. “What is it?”
Fu Suihe handed her a tissue. There was a faint mark of red on it.
She pointed gently. “We’re almost there. There’s something on your neck…”
Ji Yanwan pulled out her phone and looked at herself. On her pale neck, there was a long, faint red mark.
It was a kiss mark, left from when Fu Suihe had looked up at her earlier.
That soft, feathery feeling stirred once again in Ji Yanwan’s chest.
