The Black Lotus Stole the White Moonlight (GL) - Chapter 15
Mu Tianyin was stunned, her eyes flickering slightly.
How should she tell her?
Bai An’an’s past didn’t include a fairy sister who repeatedly saved her.
Mu Tianyin suddenly realized that without her, Bai An’an would have faced all the ugliness of the world alone. This little girl, born with a difficult fate, had no one to pity her. She lowered her eyes, her tea-colored pupils gazing at Bai An’an’s thin body, and sighed softly.
“It’s real,” she said faintly, her eyes shimmering, her gaze falling on Bai An’an’s face, repeating, “It’s not your fantasy.”
Bai An’an, her eyes red, stared at her for a long time, nodded vigorously, and smiled brightly, “I thought so too! Xiao Tao and the others can’t see fairy sister, it must be because fairy sister doesn’t want them to see you, right?”
As she spoke, she nodded more confidently, “Uncle Zhang and the stall owners saw you just now!”
Mu Tianyin nodded with a smile, watching her.
Bai An’an pursed her lips, her eyebrows curved like crescent moons, her voice hesitant, “Fairy sister, do you like the hairpin in your hair?”
Although Mu Tianyin didn’t understand her intention, she nodded.
Bai An’an blinked, her watery eyes looking at her hopefully, her voice soft and sweet, “Then… then can fairy sister grant An’an a request?”
Mu Tianyin looked at her with a smile, her fair face even more beautiful in the moonlight.
Bai An’an bit her lip, glanced at her cautiously, and quickly lowered her head, “Can… can you call An’an’s name?”
Mu Tianyin looked at her immediately upon hearing this.
Bai An’an twisted her fingers anxiously, her gaze fixed on Mu Tianyin’s snow-white lapel, not daring to look up at her face, “Because… because fairy sister, you don’t seem to have called An’an’s name even once.”
Seeing Mu Tianyin staring at her blankly, she quickly explained in a flustered tone, “You see, Xiao Tao and I are friends, we call each other’s names! I call her Xiao Tao, and she calls me An’an. Aren’t fairy sister and I also making friends?”
After Bai An’an finished speaking, she blinked confusedly, shaking her head, “No, didn’t An’an say that when she grew up, she would become fairy sister’s disciple?”
“I heard people say, ‘One day a teacher, a lifetime a father.’ Then fairy sister, should An’an call you mother?” Although Bai An’an was thin and pale, her small face had delicate features, her little face full of confusion, tilting her head adorably.
“An’er…” Mu Tianyin’s palm landed on Bai An’an’s head, her palm not large, her fingers slender and well-defined.
Bai An’an raised her little head, her mouth wide open, looking surprised.
Mu Tianyin found her expression amusing, a hint of a smile appearing in her clear eyes, eventually spreading to the corners of her mouth.
“You… say it again?” Bai An’an reached out her arm, grabbed Mu Tianyin’s snow-white lapel, her eyes shining brightly.
Mu Tianyin paused, then said again, “An’er.”
Bai An’an smiled broadly, her little face no longer troubled, and responded emphatically, “Yes!”
“From now on, fairy sister will call me An’er! Then… then can I still call you fairy sister?”
Mu Tianyin nodded with a smile.
Bai An’an pursed her lips, looking at her happily.
Her gaze swept across her face, suddenly falling on a green-clad beauty not far away.
Bai An’an reached out her arm, pointing at the couple not far away, surprised, “Why is sister Cuiyan here?”
Tonight was a festival celebration, and after dark, various colored lanterns were hung on the streets.
The streets were crowded with people, exceptionally lively.
Mu Tianyin turned her head indifferently, looking in the direction Bai An’an pointed, and said faintly, “What’s wrong?”
Bai An’an covered her mouth, her little chin resting on Mu Tianyin’s shoulder, and whispered in her ear, “Did you see? Sister Cuiyan is talking and laughing with a strange man!”
When the little girl spoke, her lips almost touched Mu Tianyin’s earlobe.
Her voice was crisp and tender, like the singing of orioles, melodious and pleasant. The warm breath from her mouth brushed against Mu Tianyin’s sensitive earlobe.
Too close…
She turned her head uncomfortably, her eyes lowered, then raised again, looking at her faintly, “An’er, if you want to cultivate, you must sever all ties with these mortals.”
Bai An’an, leaning in Mu Tianyin’s arms, was staring intently at the handsome couple not far away. Hearing this, she tilted her head slightly, rolling her eyes.
She hadn’t even become her cheap master yet, and she was already putting on airs.
“But fairy sister, An’er hasn’t started cultivating yet,” Bai An’an concealed her expression, pointing her finger at her lips, puzzled, “Do I have to break off ties with Xiao Tao and sister Cuiyan now?”
Bai An’an put down her hand and continued, “And my mother, too?”
Mu Tianyin paused slightly, her expression softening, she patted her head, sighing, “Forget it.”
Anyway, this was all An’er’s memory, and it wouldn’t have much impact on her.
Seeing that Cuiyan was about to leave, Bai An’an quickly said to Mu Tianyin, “Fairy sister, let’s follow them and see.”
Mu Tianyin couldn’t refuse her, so she carried Bai An’an and followed them.
Mu Tianyin, dressed in white, immaculate. Even carrying Bai An’an, trailing far behind Cuiyan, her calm and otherworldly aura was undiminished.
Bai An’an believed that even if Mu Tianyin really did something bad, no one would suspect her. Because she clearly had the face of a righteous person.
She thought about these things idly, her gaze casually falling on Cuiyan not far away.
That silly woman Cuiyan, thinking she had found a good man, used her years of savings to redeem herself, only to be betrayed and end up miserable.
But it was all her own fault. Bai An’an narrowed her eyes, thinking without much sympathy.
Although she thought so in her heart, her face showed a worried expression.
Bai An’an and Mu Tianyin followed Cuiyan all the way, Cuiyan and the strange young man talking and laughing, unaware.
After Cuiyan’s figure disappeared, Bai An’an turned to Mu Tianyin and said, “Fairy sister, An’er remembers who that person with sister Cuiyan is.”
Mu Tianyin just looked at her, saying nothing.
Bai An’an continued, “It’s Master Wen.” She thought of something, frowning her little brow, worried, “Does sister Cuiyan want to marry Master Wen? But Master Wen already has a wife!”
“A few days ago, An’er saw Master Wen walking with his wife.”
Mu Tianyin, hearing Bai An’an talk about these mortal gossip, although not interested, wasn’t annoyed either, and just asked, “Are you very worried?”
Bai An’an nodded vigorously, “My mother said, no man is a good thing, and Master Wen is also a man. He clearly has a wife, but he still comes to provoke sister Cuiyan…”
Mu Tianyin, seeing her acting like a little adult, couldn’t help but smile. Her fair fingertips landed on her brow, gently tapping, and she whispered, “Do you know what ‘provoke’ means?”
Bai An’an immediately raised her face, pouting her lips unhappily, “Of course An’er knows! Provoke is, is…”
The little girl seemed to not know how to describe it, her little face wrinkled into a ball.
She bit her lip, suddenly reaching out her hands, cupping Mu Tianyin’s face, bringing her little head closer.
A small, gentle kiss landed on Mu Tianyin’s lips.
The little girl seemed unaware of the shocking thing she had done, her eyes curved with laughter, raising her delicate chin at Mu Tianyin triumphantly, “This is provoke!”
A faint pink instantly spread across Mu Tianyin’s fair earlobes. She stared at Bai An’an blankly for a moment, seeing her puzzled gaze, she coughed, avoiding her gaze, and asked sternly, “Who taught you that?”
Seeing Mu Tianyin’s displeased expression, Bai An’an asked cautiously, “Did An’er do something wrong?”
She raised her little face, looking confused, with a hint of fear.
Mu Tianyin composed herself, seeing her expression, she sighed inwardly.
Living in that kind of environment, she inevitably had a wrong understanding of love between men and women.
Besides, she was so young, she really couldn’t bear to criticize her.
She would teach her about morality, ethics, and shame slowly.
“This time, I’ll let it go, but you’re not allowed to kiss others casually in the future,” she said calmly.
Bai An’an looked at her cautiously, “Then An’er won’t kiss anyone else, only fairy sister?”
Mu Tianyin was momentarily speechless, and after a moment, she said unnaturally, “No.”
Bai An’an immediately became sullen, glancing at Mu Tianyin but not voicing her displeasure.
She returned to the brothel with a heavy heart and encountered Cuiyan leaning against the railing on the second-floor corridor.
Knowing that Mu Tianyin was definitely watching her from some corner, Bai An’an immediately put on a smiling face and ran over cheerfully, “Sister Cuiyan!”
Cuiyan leaned against the railing, her figure graceful, her beautiful face turning to look, raising an eyebrow, and smiling, “Xiao An’er, where have you been?”
Bai An’an exchanged a few simple pleasantries with her and then brought up Master Wen, “Sister Cuiyan, don’t go with Master Wen. He has a wife.”
Cuiyan didn’t expect Bai An’an to talk about this, so she was momentarily stunned. After regaining her senses, she laughed, “Xiao An’er, you don’t understand.”
Bai An’an looked at her seriously, correcting her, “I do understand! My mother said that women from brothels can only be concubines, and being a concubine isn’t a good thing.”
“And An’er saw Master Wen and his wife on the street. They were happy together, they looked so good…”
Bai An’an was interrupted by Cuiyan’s sharp voice before she could finish her sentence.
Bai An’an seemed to see Cuiyan’s stern expression for the first time and was startled.
Cuiyan calmed down, lowered her eyelashes, and concealed the emotions in her eyes.
After a moment, she looked up and said seriously, “I like him, so I’m willing to redeem myself and be with him. Even if it’s as a concubine, I’m willing. Besides…” she said slowly, the corners of her mouth curving into a sweet smile, “Besides, his marriage with his wife was arranged by their parents. He loves me.”
Bai An’an almost wanted to roll her eyes at Cuiyan. This person was hopeless.
She suppressed the urge to show her disdain and put on a confused expression, “Then… then what about Master Wen’s wife?”
Cuiyan’s expression froze, then she glanced at her and waved her hand, “You’re just a child, what do you know?”
Bai An’an hesitated for a moment, and seeing Cuiyan turn away and ignore her, she left, turning her head back every few steps.
Soon after, Cuiyan redeemed herself, penniless, and entered the Wen residence.
Without a phoenix coronet or bridal sedan, she married quietly.
The legitimate wife of the Wen family was a jealous woman, and the man named Wen was meek and timid. Cuiyan, eager to pull the legitimate wife down, whispered sweet nothings in the man’s ear every day.
Her cheap mother had long disliked Cuiyan, and when she heard her gossip, she was overjoyed, “An’er, go to Liu’s shop and buy some mung bean cakes for me, and while you’re at it, see your sister Cuiyan.”
She said maliciously, “Haven’t you missed your sister Cuiyan for a long time?”
Bai An’an knew what her cheap mother was up to.
Now that Cuiyan had turned over a new leaf, she was naturally tight-lipped about her past and avoided it.
If Bai An’an went, she would probably be turned away.
But she was lucky. After buying the mung bean cakes from Liu’s shop, she saw Cuiyan leaving the Wen residence with the young master.
She immediately beamed and ran over cheerfully, shouting, “Sister Cuiyan!”
