The Black Lotus Stole the White Moonlight (GL) - Chapter 25
“Senior Sister, I miss you so much.” Bai An’an closed her eyes, tears of grievance streaming down her face, her fingers tightly clutching Mu Tianyin’s snow-white lapel.
Mu Tianyin stood on the corridor outside the hall, tall and upright, looking down at the girl’s snow-white face, pausing slightly.
The night was deep, the dew was heavy, and the sky was as black as ink, with only the cold moonlight reflecting Mu Tianyin’s dazed appearance. The moonlight shone down, making the frowning and tearful girl in her arms look even more haggard and pitiful.
The biting mountain wind blew, causing Mu Tianyin’s white hairband to flutter slightly. It made the girl in her arms shiver, squeezing even closer into Mu Tianyin’s embrace.
After a long while, Mu Tianyin seemed to suddenly regain her senses, sighed softly, and carried the girl back to her bedroom.
The bedroom was styled like the other palaces, with plain curtains and a few simple pieces of furniture, looking nothing like a girl’s room. However, Mu Tianyin was completely unaware, pushing open the door and carrying her in, then closing the door.
The room was dim, with only a sliver of moonlight from outside the window for illumination.
But Mu Tianyin accurately carried Bai An’an to the bed, letting go and helping her lie down. Just as she withdrew her hand, her waist was tightly hugged.
Mu Tianyin paused slightly, and in a moment, the girl in her arms took advantage of the situation, burying her whole little head in her embrace.
Just as she was about to reach out and push her away, she heard the girl’s weak voice in her arms: “Senior Sister, where did you go? Why didn’t you come to see An’er?”
Mu Tianyin’s fingers immediately landed on Bai An’an’s shoulder, patting her hesitantly. Looking down at her slightly flushed cheeks, her eyes still closed, she was clearly not awake.
Her expression paused, her fingers moving up, landing on her forehead, slightly frowning, so hot.
Bai An’an felt the movement on her forehead, opening her eyes hazily, then slowly closing them again.
She seemed to be delirious, not realizing who she was hugging at the moment, muttering to reveal herself completely: “An’er went to the forbidden area and found that Senior Sister wasn’t you. Senior Sister, who are you?”
“An’er, is who I am really that important to you?” Mu Tianyin looked away, her expression dark and unclear.
Bai An’an remained still for a long time.
Mu Tianyin couldn’t help but look down, finding that the girl had hugged her and fallen asleep again. She was immediately stunned, her expression strange.
Mu Tianyin sighed, fed her medicine, and then left the room.
When Bai An’an woke up the next day, she found that Mu Tianyin was not in the room again. She realized that Mu Tianyin seemed to be a very busy person, rarely seen during the day. So she had no choice but to use the night time to increase the other person’s favorability.
She was propping up her legs, squinting at the light green curtains above her head, her fingers idly playing with the tassel hanging on her waist. The door was suddenly knocked, and then Zhai Anyi’s voice sounded outside the door: “Junior Sister, are you up?”
Bai An’an quickly put down her legs, arranged them neatly, then coughed and said in a delicate voice, “Senior Brother, I’m up, wait a moment.”
Although cultivators don’t care about these things, they still pay attention to the basic differences between men and women. For example, men can’t enter women’s boudoirs at will. Even senior brothers and sisters can’t. Bai An’an quickly put on her clothes and went to open the door.
Zhai Anyi waited patiently for a moment, then saw Junior Sister open the door. Seeing that she hadn’t combed her hair and still looked haggard, clearly still ill, he quickly said, “You should go back and rest, Junior Sister. Be careful your illness gets worse.”
Bai An’an gritted her teeth secretly, why did he come to call her if that was the case. Although she was already awake and not seriously ill. She twitched the corners of her mouth and smiled slightly, “It’s okay, Senior Brother, you called me so early, is there anything important?”
Zhai Anyi glanced at her, scratching his hair, “I’m about to follow Elder Zhijian to explore the secret realm. So I came to tell you.”
Bai An’an immediately exclaimed, sincerely, “Secret realm? Is Master going?”
Zhai Anyi shook his head, explaining, “Master has already explored it once. She eliminated the dangers in the secret realm. This secret realm exploration is a trial for the disciples. If I pass this trial, I can probably go down the mountain to train like Second Senior Sister.”
He looked at Bai An’an, hesitating. Although it was a trial mission, he always felt like he was being sent away by Master. Thinking of Master still being angry, he couldn’t help but worry and remind her, “In the next few days I’m gone, be careful, don’t make Master angry again…”
Bai An’an looked at him, her expression a little strange. Wasn’t it Zhai Anyi who made Mu Tianyin angry? What did it have to do with her, Bai An’an? She was at most an accomplice. It was beyond her expectation that Zhai Anyi, the main culprit, was released after being locked up overnight.
“Senior Brother, don’t worry about An’er, An’er will take care of herself.”
Zhai Anyi looked at her, just about to say something, a cold female voice suddenly changed Zhai Anyi’s face: “Why are you still here?”
Zhai Anyi’s face stiffened, and he scratched the back of his head awkwardly, “Master, I’m about to leave, so I came to say goodbye to Junior Sister.”
Mu Tianyin stood with her hands behind her back, her face as white as an ice person, her expression even colder. She frowned, “Leave immediately after saying goodbye, don’t keep the elder waiting.”
Zhai Anyi swallowed and ran away in a hurry. He turned back halfway, shouting under pressure, “Master, Junior Sister is still ill. Even if you want to punish her, wait until she recovers, right?”
Zhai Anyi didn’t dare to speak again when he saw Mu Tianyin’s gaze, and ran away obediently.
Bai An’an stood there, staring at Mu Tianyin for a while, then lowered her head to stare at her toes in fear.
Mu Tianyin looked at her for a while, seeing that even after taking the spiritual medicine, her face was still pale, she said coldly, “It’s cold outside, go back to your room.”
Bai An’an glanced at her quickly, then ran back to her room with her head down, looking like a frightened little animal.
Mu Tianyin was stunned. She had only lost her temper with her once, and she was so scared? Thinking of Bai An’an’s illness, Mu Tianyin turned and left.
When the Alchemy elder was making medicine, he heard that Mu Tianyin wanted medicinal herbs to treat colds, and he was almost so shocked that his beard fell off. Alchemy elder’s gossip was high, but he couldn’t get away, so he had to let his disciple pack the medicine and hand it to the disciple who came to get it, then smiled and asked, “Who is this medicine for?”
The disciple who took the medicine was also confused, but he didn’t dare to ask questions about the city lord’s orders. Hearing the elder mention it, he quickly bowed and said, “This, this disciple doesn’t know.”
Alchemy elder stroked his white beard, and the rumors that had been spreading more and more in Mingxin City recently involuntarily came to his mind, and he immediately understood. Thinking that he had never seen Mu Tianyin’s little disciple, he thought for a moment, then ordered his disciple to pick a basket of Shuangji fruit and hand it to the disciple who took the medicine, reminding him, “Take this Shuangji fruit to the city lord’s little disciple, it’s a little gift from this old man.”
Bai An’an really didn’t expect that she would still have to drink Chinese medicine even after becoming a cultivator. Mu Tianyin didn’t come in person, but only let her disciples bring Chinese medicine and a basket of red and small fruits.
Bai An’an stared at the dark Chinese medicine in disgust, not wanting to drink it. Her eyes swept over the Chinese medicine and landed on the basket of spiritual fruits. This spiritual fruit seemed to be the thing Mu Tianyin had given her to eat in the Hongmeng Valley last time. She picked up one and put it in her mouth, nodding in satisfaction.
She paused for a moment, feeling that she was still ‘sick’ and couldn’t have such a good appetite. So she barely stopped. Turning her head and not looking at the basket of spiritual fruits that was only half left. Anyway, Mu Tianyin told her to rest well, so she simply stayed in bed
As for the medicine? She wasn’t sick, so why drink it?
Besides, had Mu Tianyin lost her mind? She was a cultivator! Spiritual energy was one thing, but Chinese medicine? Unbelievable! She’d dump it out later.
Muttering to herself, Bai An’an lay in bed, planning her next moves. She must have relaxed too much, because she drifted off to sleep. When she woke up, her eyes still blurry, she saw a vague white figure sitting by her bed, frowning at her.
Mu Tianyin’s gaze was fixed on Bai An’an’s flushed cheeks and drowsy eyes. Her tone was a bit helpless as she said, “I told you to drink the medicine, but you ate half a basket of Shuangji fruit?”
Bai An’an blinked, her mind slow, not quite understanding.
Mu Tianyin glanced at her, then at the untouched medicine bowl on the table, and said, “Sit up and drink your medicine before you go back to sleep.”
Bai An’an belatedly realized the fruit might have caused a problem. She tried to sit up, but failed and fell back.
Mu Tianyin had to help her sit up, then propped her up with pillows.
Bai An’an felt like she was drunk, everything hazy.
Even Mu Tianyin’s face was blurry. She had never been good with alcohol, either before or after transmigrating. She had no need for it before, and no opportunity or desire for it after.
In the demon realm, she was constantly fighting, barely sleeping.
She never dared to relax, fearing her enemies would find her or the Heavenly Dao would smite her with lightning.
As a transmigrator, she felt an undercurrent of rejection from the world, each tribulation more dangerous than the last. When she discovered puppets could conceal some of her fate, she became obsessed with making them.
Now, she had carelessly stumbled. Knowing that alcohol loosened tongues, Bai An’an worried she might say something she shouldn’t, so she kept her mouth shut.
