The Black Lotus Stole the White Moonlight (GL) - Chapter 26
Eating ten Shuangji fruits could make a cultivator feel slightly drunk. Bai An’an had eaten half a basket. Her temples throbbed, as if someone was stabbing them repeatedly. She frowned in pain.
“Master?” she murmured, looking up hazily.
Seeing her state, Mu Tianyin paused, picked up the medicine bowl, and said, “Drink this.”
Bai An’an glanced at the dark medicine, disgusted, but whined, “Can’t I skip it?”
Mu Tianyin paused and said, “If you drink the medicine, I’ll buy you candied haws.”
Bai An’an: “…”
That made her want to drink it even less.
She took advantage of her drunkenness and turned away, facing the inside of the bed, ignoring Mu Tianyin.
Mu Tianyin paused, feeling a bit helpless. She had never fed medicine to a disciple before. These small tasks were beyond her usual concern. But now she had a delicate little disciple, making her feel awkward.
Bai An’an remained silent, and Mu Tianyin sat by the bed, watching her.
Although Bai An’an was a bit drunk, she was still aware. She stared at the bed curtains, blinking slowly. She turned and suddenly grabbed Mu Tianyin’s sleeve, rubbing her eyes, “Senior Sister?”
Mu Tianyin was still cold and ethereal. Hearing Bai An’an’s voice, she froze.
Bai An’an smiled inwardly, but looked even more delighted. She threw herself into Mu Tianyin’s arms, her voice soft and whiny, “Senior Sister, I knew you’d come see me. Senior Sister, I have good news!”
She looked up, her eyes sparkling.
Mu Tianyin remained expressionless, then hesitated, “Actually…”
Bai An’an interrupted her, saying confidently, “I know, Senior Sister, you were traveling, right?”
Interrupted, Mu Tianyin stared at her, then patted her head, “Drink your medicine first.”
Bai An’an: “…No!” Before Mu Tianyin could get angry, she added, “Unless Senior Sister spends a few days with me.”
Mu Tianyin frowned, looking away.
Bai An’an rolled her eyes, offering, “Then, two days!”
Mu Tianyin shook her head slightly, a faint smile on her lips.
Bai An’an pouted, reducing her offer to one finger, tearfully, “Then one day. But tonight, Senior Sister has to stay with me!”
Mu Tianyin held the medicine bowl out to Bai An’an, “Can you drink it now?”
Bai An’an knew when to stop pushing. She held the bowl, pinched her nose, closed her eyes, and gulped it down.
Mu Tianyin smiled at her dramatic performance.
Bai An’an showed her the empty bowl, eager for praise. Mu Tianyin nodded, even patting her head.
Bai An’an didn’t resist, rubbing her head against Mu Tianyin’s hand, smiling. She was like a cat being petted.
Mu Tianyin found it amusing and didn’t mind Bai An’an clinging to her sleeve.
Bai An’an held Mu Tianyin’s sleeve, closing her eyes, muttering, “Senior Sister, you promised you’d stay when I wake up. Don’t lie!”
Mu Tianyin looked down at her head, gently stroking her back, “I won’t lie.”
Bai An’an fell asleep in Mu Tianyin’s arms.
At dawn, as a crane flew past the window, Bai An’an woke up.
Mu Tianyin, who had been meditating, opened her eyes.
Bai An’an, lying in her arms, saw Mu Tianyin’s ordinary face. She stared for a moment, then sat up, looking at her, “Senior Sister?”
Mu Tianyin, with her ordinary face, nodded slightly.
Bai An’an reached out to touch her face, saying, “Wasn’t I dreaming? Was it really Senior Sister last night?”
Feeling the ticklish touch, Mu Tianyin grabbed her hand, saying softly, “You weren’t dreaming, it was… me.”
Bai An’an, confirming it was her “longed-for” Senior Sister, hugged Mu Tianyin tightly, “Senior Sister! I missed you!”
Mu Tianyin let her hug her, stroking her hair.
Bai An’an stepped back, looking at her, “Senior Sister, weren’t you traveling? Why couldn’t I find you?”
Mu Tianyin’s eyelashes fluttered, and she looked down without answering.
Bai An’an, as if trying to ease her discomfort, changed the subject, “Senior Sister, did you know? I’m your junior sister now!” She smiled, her eyes crescent-shaped, her smile sweet.
Mu Tianyin smiled, “I know. Congratulations.”
Bai An’an rolled her eyes, placing a finger to her lips, smiling mischievously, “In that case, Senior Sister, will you grant me a wish?”
Mu Tianyin smiled, “What do you want?”
Bai An’an looked out the window at the ethereal scenery, “Senior Sister, take me down the mountain?”
Mingxin City was built on the highest peak, Guangzhao Peak. The peak was steep, reaching into the clouds. At the foot of the mountain was a small town of less than 30,000 people. Cultivators and mortals had always lived in peace.
Bai An’an pulled Mu Tianyin’s sleeve, walking happily ahead, looking around curiously. A mortal town wasn’t much to see, but Bai An’an, as an “innocent little cutie,” had to maintain her persona.
Bai An’an was naturally flamboyant. With Mu Tianyin by her side, she didn’t hide her beauty. Her beauty was so striking that passersby were mesmerized.
On the second floor of the Zuixiao Tower, a man in purple stared at Bai An’an, his eyes filled with admiration.
“Zhong Fu, invite the lady up,” the man said, tapping his fan, confident.
His servant looked down, his eyes widening.
The man kicked his servant, “Go! If you lose the beauty, I’ll deal with you!”
The servant hurried downstairs with some thugs to “invite” the beauty.
Bai An’an was at a jewelry stall, picking out a hairpin for Mu Tianyin. The wooden hairpin from the dream couldn’t be brought out, so she had to replace it. Besides… she touched the jade hairpin in her hair, Mu Tianyin had given her one, so it was only fair.
As she was holding a wooden hairpin, comparing it to Mu Tianyin’s hair, a few rude people surrounded her.
“Miss, our young master invites you upstairs.”
“Who is your young master?” Bai An’an tilted her head, looking innocent.
The servant, seeing her face, lowered his tone, “Our young master’s surname is Li…”
This Young Master Li seemed to be famous, because as soon as the servant said this, Bai An’an noticed the crowd around her thinning out. She played with the hairpin, raising an eyebrow, “Who is Young Master Li?”
The servant was about to answer when Mu Tianyin said coldly, “Ignore him.”
Bai An’an paused, then nodded obediently, smiling, “An’er will listen to Senior Sister!”
She then focused on picking out the hairpin, ignoring him.
The servant, realizing that polite requests were useless, changed his tone, “Don’t refuse a toast only to drink a forfeit!”
Bai An’an, expressionless, said, “Senior Sister, he said he wants to drink a forfeit!”
Mu Tianyin was about to act when two familiar white figures appeared in their sight.
Bai An’an looked closely and saw it was Mu Lan and Mu Chong.
Why were they in this mortal town? Were they here to relax, like her?
Bai An’an quickly said, “Junior Sister Mu!”
Mu Lan, hearing someone call her, recognized the annoying voice of Bai An’an. She looked over and saw Bai An’an and her nameless companion.
Bai An’an looked delighted, while the nameless woman’s expression was unreadable.
Mu Lan’s expression stiffened; she wanted to pretend she didn’t see them.
She had always been the pride of the Mu family, rarely tasting failure. That day, she had not only embarrassed herself in front of the city lord, but also lost to Bai An’an, whom she despised. She couldn’t swallow her pride.
But the situation was set, and she had no choice but to begrudgingly accept it.
Mu Chong, seeing Bai An’an and Mu Tianyin, paused and bowed, “Senior Sister Bai, Senior.”
Bai An’an accepted the greeting, looking at Mu Lan.
Mu Lan, her face tight, gritted her teeth and said, “Senior Sister Bai.”
Bai An’an nodded, accepting the greeting magnanimously, “Junior Sister Mu, what are you doing here?”
Mu Lan was extremely annoyed. To run into her enemy while trying to relax was truly bad luck.
The servant and his thugs, completely ignored, became impatient, “Oh, another beauty! Perfect, our young master loves beauties. This beauty, why don’t you come upstairs? We’ll make sure you’re well taken care of!”
Mu Lan, needing to vent, saw these people as perfect targets and immediately attacked.
She pointed her sharp sword at the servant’s face, coldly asking, “What did you say?”
The servant and his thugs ran away, terrified, not daring to provoke this fierce woman again.
Mu Lan sheathed her sword, seeing Bai An’an standing there, looking helpless. Remembering Bai An’an’s talent, she took a step forward, “If you want to continue cultivating on the mountain, leave this person.”
She wasn’t afraid to offend the nameless woman; she had the Mu family as her backing. If this person wanted to deal with her, she’d have to consider the consequences.
Bai An’an, holding the hairpin, looked at her in surprise, “Why?”
Mu Lan said, exasperated, “Are you her female pet? Do you need to ask why?”
Bai An’an looked confused, “Female Pet?” She looked puzzled, “You mean, that kind of relationship?”
Mu Lan sneered, raising her chin, “What kind of relationship? Surely, you’re not Dao companions?”
Bai An’an glanced at Mu Tianyin, looking thoughtful.
