The Black Lotus Villainess Only Wants To Possess Me - Chapter 13
Li Jia’s hands were adorned with long, delicate manicures, a style her manager had arranged to accentuate her already slender and beautiful hands. Yet, it was precisely this that made the marks left by her digging her nails into her palms all the more pronounced.
Ye Chengxing stared at the Omega’s bloodied palm, the stark crimson momentarily freezing her in place.
Still gripping Li Jia’s wrist, she could feel the rigid tension and guardedness beneath the other woman’s skin.
And, almost imperceptible, a faint tremor.
Without releasing Li Jia’s wrist, Ye Chengxing turned slightly to signal Xiao Bai to bring over the basic medical kit.
The Omega’s palm was raw and bleeding, fresh droplets still welling up from the self-inflicted wounds.
How much force must she have used to injure herself like this?
Ye Chengxing couldn’t help but ask, “Li Jia, does it hurt?”
In this world, most questions that already have answers are asked with ulterior motives.
Like now.
It wasn’t a genuine inquiry, but rather an expression of overflowing concern and heartache.
Hearing Ye Chengxing’s words, Li Jia remained silent.
It seemed no one had ever asked her if it hurt. They only called her a madwoman, then recoiled in fear and fled.
What a strange feeling.
Ye Chengxing had already experienced several such unprecedentedly unfamiliar sensations while inhabiting this “Ye Chengxing” body.
Xiao Bai retrieved the medical kit and, following Ye Chengxing’s instructions, opened it and placed it beside her.
Ye Chengxing took out a cotton swab, intending to first wipe away the bl00d droplets and then disinfect the wound.
After wiping away the bl00d, she gently dabbed the wound with a cotton swab soaked in hydrogen peroxide.
Though Li Jia’s expression remained unchanged, Ye Chengxing clearly felt her body tense slightly the moment the swab touched the wound.
“So it does hurt after all,” Ye Chengxing sighed, receiving no response from Li Jia. As she spoke, she softened her disinfecting motions even further.
Li Jia had gripped so tightly that the marks were truly shocking to behold.
Ever since earlier, Ye Chengxing had sensed that Li Jia was experiencing a post-traumatic stress episode.
Though the plot details were vague, the fragments Lin Que had mentioned this morning when she went to see him provided a rough outline of what had happened back then.
In a way, Lin Que, still wearing his mask, had indeed pulled Li Jia out of the mud back then, all while pretending to ask for nothing in return.
Nothing in return…
Thinking of this, Ye Chengxing recalled that Li Jia had started acting strangely only after she had finished speaking. Guilt washed over her.
She had been too careless, taking the whole situation too lightly.
Because of this sudden turn of events, the plan to discuss filing a lawsuit to terminate Li Jia’s contract after lunch was swallowed back down.
If she couldn’t guarantee a positive outcome, she’d rather keep it to herself until she was certain.
After all, the most devastating thing was to raise someone’s hopes only to have them dashed.
And those photos…
It was clear they had been taken without Li Jia’s knowledge. Bringing them up now would only cause more harm.
Ye Chengxing pursed her lips.
The wounds on Li Jia’s palm were scattered and quite deep.
After disinfecting them, Ye Chengxing applied ointment and carefully wrapped them with gauze.
The Omega stared blankly at her palm. The bl00d had been wiped away, the wounds treated, and now only pure white gauze remained where moments ago there had been a bloody mess.
Ye Chengxing carefully organized the scattered medicines and gauze back into the first-aid kit, then cautioned, “Keep your hands dry for the next few days. Don’t worry, they’ll heal quickly.”
Both of Li Jia’s hands were now wrapped in gauze.
Li Jia lifted one hand and gently touched the gauze on the other.
The rough texture of the gauze was unfamiliar. She rarely bandaged her wounds, often leaving them exposed. Only when absolutely necessary would she haphazardly apply some ointment. After a while, she had grown accustomed to the pain.
But in that moment, she realized she hadn’t adapted as well as she thought.
Compared to enduring pain, the feeling of someone’s concern and tenderness… she preferred the latter.
Her fingertip lingered on the gauze for a moment before she looked up at Ye Chengxing. “Sister, thank you,” she murmured, her voice soft.
Though her tone was still subdued, it carried a rare hint of genuine emotion, unlike the forced intimacy she had feigned in recent days.
Ye Chengxing didn’t notice the subtle difference. She smiled warmly, her eyes curving into a beautiful crescent shape.
Having grown accustomed to Li Jia’s constant “Sister” over the past few days, she found the sudden silence unsettling. Now that she heard it again, the sound was music to her ears.
After packing up the first-aid kit, Ye Chengxing casually straightened her clothes and stood up.
Just then, her assistant sent her a message.
Ye Chengxing opened it and saw that her assistant had scheduled a meeting with a lawyer for her. If she had time, they could meet that afternoon to discuss the matter.
After reading the message, Ye Chengxing replied with a brief acknowledgment, thinking to herself that her assistant was remarkably efficient. She turned off her phone screen, simultaneously pondering when to tell Li Jia about this.
She glanced at Li Jia, who still seemed a bit dazed, and decided to wait until after her meeting with the lawyer that afternoon to assess the situation.
The contract definitely needed to be terminated, but the thought of Lin Que’s brazenly threatening demeanor, waving those photos around, made her feel utterly disgusted.
What she wanted was for those people to pay for their misdeeds, for Li Jia to stand in the spotlight, surrounded by vibrant flowers and radiant applause—not for them to drag Li Jia down with them as they fell.
But the specifics of how to proceed with the lawsuit still needed careful consideration.
However, the assistant’s message reminded Ye Chengxing of something else.
“Li Jia,” Ye Chengxing said, pressing the power button to reactivate her phone screen.
The Omega, whose name had been called, lifted her lashes.
Ye Chengxing turned the phone screen toward Li Jia, her eyes curving into a smile. “I suddenly realized we haven’t exchanged contact information yet, have we?”
Before Li Jia could speak, Ye Chengxing tapped the screen again. Finding the position awkward, she shifted to sit beside Li Jia. “Have you used the phone? How do you like it?”
Li Jia looked up and met Ye Chengxing’s bright, gentle smile.
Too close.
She seemed to catch that faint, delicate scent of oolong tea again.
After holding the gaze for a moment, Li Jia lowered her lashes and tapped a string of numbers into the contacts page Ye Chengxing had opened for her. “The phone… works very well.”
It wasn’t her imagination.
The subtle fragrance of oolong tea in the air nearly enveloped her.
This wasn’t the first time she’d smelled it, but unlike her previous aversion, she now found the tea scent strangely pleasant.
Seeing Li Jia enter the number, Ye Chengxing tapped the “Notes” field.
Ye Chengxing was sitting so close that Li Jia could easily glance at the screen.
“Why add ‘A’?” Li Jia asked, puzzled by the letter before her name. “Isn’t just the name enough for a note?”
As she spoke, Ye Chengxing typed the final character of “Jia.”
She looked up, her smile still lingering, and said matter-of-factly, “Because with ‘A,’ your name will always be at the top of my list.”
