The Black Lotus Villainess Only Wants To Possess Me - Chapter 14
Li Jia couldn’t quite describe the feeling that washed over her when she heard Ye Chengxing’s words. All she knew was that after Ye Chengxing spoke, the faint, almost imperceptible scent of Alpha pheromones in the air suddenly seemed more pronounced.
No, perhaps it wasn’t that the pheromones themselves had intensified, but rather that she was unconsciously seeking out that subtle oolong tea fragrance.
Li Jia lowered her lashes slightly, suspecting she might be having another episode. Why else would her heart suddenly race? It was likely just anxiety and chest tightness.
She replayed Ye Chengxing’s words in her mind.
Adding the letter ‘A’ would make her name appear first?
A note was just a note, yet the way Ye Chengxing had written it felt imbued with a unique significance, even giving her the fleeting impression that she was being cherished and valued.
She realized that this Ye Chengxing was fundamentally different from the one she had known in her previous life. At least, she had never sensed such unfamiliar and complex emotions from that earlier version.
Toward the Ye Chengxing of her past life, she felt only disgust and loathing.
Li Jia curled her fingertips inward, gently touching the gauze wrapped around her palm.
Her heart was still racing uncontrollably, each beat a frantic drum against her ribs. This illness felt subtly different from her usual episodes, and she couldn’t resist pressing a hand to her chest.
Ye Chengxing’s earlier remark had been completely devoid of ulterior motive. Li Jia had simply asked, and she had blurted out her honest thoughts.
Just add an ‘A’ and put Li Jia first in the list. So convenient! The first thing I’d see when I open my contacts would be Li Jia.
Ye Chengxing stared at the newly saved contact, dialed the number, and hung up immediately. Holding up her phone, she smiled brightly at Li Jia. “I just called your phone. Don’t forget to save my number too!”
Li Jia gazed into Ye Chengxing’s crescent-moon eyes, feeling the illness intensify.
The Omega pressed her hand harder against her chest.
Ye Chengxing noticed the gesture immediately and slipped her phone back into her pocket. “Are you still feeling unwell? Let me help you upstairs to rest. Lying down might make you feel better.”
Li Jia opened her mouth to say, “I don’t need help,” but when she met Ye Chengxing’s concerned and anxious gaze, the words twisted in her throat and came out as something else entirely.
“I’m feeling a bit unwell…” She paused, then tentatively added, “My hand hurts too.”
Sometimes, when pain is endured alone for too long, one stops mentioning it, knowing no one cares and there’s no point.
Hearing Li Jia’s words, Ye Chengxing felt both guilty and concerned. “Let’s go upstairs right away.”
Li Jia savored the emotions beneath Ye Chengxing’s words, exactly as she had hoped.
In the past, her heart had been filled with violence and bloodshed, for only in that state could she maintain a semblance of pleasure, briefly escape her nightmares, and forget her pain.
But now, she seemed to have discovered something that could bring her even greater joy.
When Ye Chengxing offered to help Li Jia upstairs, she simply provided support, without any inappropriate gestures, moving with utmost care.
As they ascended the stairs, Li Jia subtly glanced up at Ye Chengxing’s profile.
If this Ye Chengxing can always remain like this, she thought, it won’t matter even if I eventually discover she has ulterior motives. I’d be willing to give up something to keep this sense of being cherished and cared for.
Even if it’s all an act, it doesn’t matter.
After helping Li Jia upstairs, Ye Chengxing poured her a glass of warm water.
“I need to go out later. Why don’t you skip class this afternoon and get some rest?” She placed the water beside Li Jia’s bed, speaking gently.
Hearing this, Li Jia looked up at Ye Chengxing, a fragile curve tugging at the corner of her lips. Combined with the gauze wrapped around her palm, she looked utterly heartbreaking. “Sister, I’m fine. Writing might be a little difficult, but I can still listen to the lecture.”
The Omega’s long lashes drooped halfway, casting shadows across her cheeks.
“It’s okay. Rest well first. You can catch up on your studies later,” Ye Chengxing said, then hesitated. “I’ll send you the tutor’s contact information. If you really want to attend class, you can contact her. But don’t push yourself if you’re not feeling well.”
“Okay,” Li Jia replied obediently.
Ye Chengxing thought, The villain is just too lovable, a complete little darling.
This only made her despise those scum even more.
Glancing at the time, she realized it was almost time to leave. After all, she hadn’t returned early at noon. She gave Li Jia a few more instructions and hurried out.
Li Jia watched the Alpha’s retreating figure thoughtfully. She remembered that Ye Chengxing had already gone out once today. All day, Ye Chengxing had seemed busy, her brow furrowed in deep thought, as if she were dealing with something urgent.
Realizing her thoughts had drifted to What is Ye Chengxing doing? Li Jia’s expression tightened slightly.
Never mind. What Ye Chengxing is doing has nothing to do with me.
The previous downpour had arrived and departed swiftly.
After the storm, the azure sky was washed clean, and the air hung damp and fresh.
The assistant’s efficiency was truly remarkable.
Time waits for no one, Ye Chengxing thought, and since the lawyer was already scheduled, they should discuss the matter early and begin preparations promptly.
Ever since her fruitless attempts to investigate Lin Que’s past actions, she had a premonition that the lawsuit would be an uphill battle.
But no matter how difficult, she had to try.
Li Jia’s life should never have ended up like this.
She didn’t know why the System had chosen her from among so many others, but perhaps some things were simply destined. Since she was here, she would do everything in her power to let the sunlight fall and dispel the darkness.
