The Black Lotus Villainess Only Wants To Possess Me - Chapter 5
Ye Chengxing couldn’t sleep.
She had been fine just after taking Li Jia’s temperature, but about an hour and a half later, Li Jia showed signs of a fever again. The Omega bit her lip, a thin sheen of sweat glistening on her forehead, her brow furrowed, and the corners of her eyes flushed crimson, as if she were having a nightmare.
Though she was asleep, she curled up slightly, a posture of self-protection, tense and uneasy.
Ye Chengxing fetched a damp towel, wrung it out carefully, and gently wiped the sweat from Li Jia’s forehead. Noticing the Omega was biting her lip so hard she was nearly drawing bl00d, Ye Chengxing reached out and gently freed the bloodied lip from between her teeth.
Even though Ye Chengxing’s touch was feather-light, the contact seemed to startle Li Jia. Her sleeping body jolted violently.
Suddenly, Ye Chengxing felt she understood the nightmare Li Jia was reliving.
It was clear that even if Li Jia hadn’t shown a strong reaction outwardly, the trauma had burrowed deep into her heart, becoming an inescapable nightmare that haunted her in the dead of night.

Before transmigrating into the novel, Ye Chengxing primarily worked in surgery, not psychology, but she had gained some familiarity with the field.
Even when she first accepted this mission, she had a premonition that healing Li Jia would be an incredibly long process, with no guarantee of success.
If her sole goal was resurrection, choosing the first mission would have been faster and had a higher chance of success.
But even if she had to do it all over again, Ye Chengxing would still choose the second mission: healing Li Jia.
She was already dead. Truth be told, if not for this accidental mission, she would have long since vanished completely. Every moment she now lived was a gift she didn’t deserve.
Before transmigrating, Ye Chengxing’s family environment was similar to the original body’s—she had also grown up cherished by her entire family. However, her personality had developed in stark contrast to the original body’s.
Li Jia was surrounded by too much malice. Even if this mission ultimately failed, Ye Chengxing hoped her presence could bring Li Jia some warmth.
Li Jia felt as though she had been trapped in an endless nightmare. Yet amidst the terrifying visions, a pair of incredibly gentle hands appeared in her dream. They wiped away her sweat and patiently soothed her by her ear, their movements carrying the faint, refreshing scent of oolong tea.
When she opened her eyes, the room was brightly lit by daylight. She was alone in the sterile hospital room, cold and empty, just as she had woken up countless times before.
But… how long had it been since she had slept so soundly?
A dazed expression flickered across Li Jia’s face. She found it hard to believe she had actually fallen asleep—and slept so well. Counting both before and after her rebirth, even with the aid of medication, she hadn’t slept like this in ages.
Then, realization struck her, and she let out a silent, mocking laugh in her heart.
Li Jia closed her eyes briefly, suppressing the flicker of emotion in her gaze.
Sleeping so well was likely just the exhaustion from being reborn.
She couldn’t help but sneer inwardly.
Currently, the only Alpha with oolong tea-scented pheromones near her was Ye Chengxing.
Li Jia murmured the name to herself. The sudden surge of emotion brought on a wave of nausea. She bolted up and rushed into the bathroom attached to her hospital room, stripped off her gown, and turned on the shower. She let the water wash away the lingering scent of oolong tea that seemed to cling to her skin.
The icy water cascaded down her body, splashing against the bathroom floor in tiny droplets that sent a chill through the air. It felt as if mint-flavored toothpaste had suddenly turned into a blast of cold air, seeping into her very organs.
Yet Li Jia felt a sense of relief wash over her. The Omega tilted her head back slightly, letting the water rush into her mouth, triggering another violent coughing fit.
Her body was already at its breaking point, trembling uncontrollably from the force of the coughing. But mentally, she felt an overwhelming sense of release, craving more.
Through the steam, Li Jia’s gaze fell upon a disposable razor lying nearby.
She stared at the blade, visions flashing through her mind, a faint crimson haze seeming to tint her vision. Slowly, she reached out, unwrapped the razor, and lifted it. But just as the blade was about to touch her skin, the motion-sensing door of the hospital room recognized an approaching figure and swung open.
The Alpha’s gentle voice echoed through the room, tinged with anxiety at not seeing Li Jia.
Ye Chengxing gripped the breakfast bag and water cup in her hands, her gaze sweeping across the empty room. A genuine panic began to rise within her. “Li Jia?” she called out.
The crimson in Li Jia’s eyes slowly faded. She closed her eyes briefly, dried herself off, and changed into a fresh hospital gown. After carefully rewrapping the razor blade, she clutched it in her palm.
When Ye Chengxing received no response after calling out, she pressed her lips into a thin line and immediately prepared to check the hospital’s surveillance footage. Just as she pulled the door open, Li Jia emerged from the bathroom.
Seeing the Omega still damp from her shower, Ye Chengxing let out a sigh of relief.
For a moment, she had feared Li Jia had jumped from the window or that someone had come to take her away again.
Though Ye Chengxing knew no one else could enter the room, the brief moment of not seeing Li Jia had filled her with dread, and a flood of worst-case scenarios had surged through her mind.
She set the breakfast bag and water cup on the nearby table. “So you were just taking a shower.”
Actually, Li Jia’s current physical condition wasn’t suitable for a bath. But noticing the other woman’s silent expression, Ye Chengxing realized why Li Jia had insisted on bathing. She remembered a passage from the original plot’s early chapters: after each encounter, Li Jia would scrub herself obsessively, almost pathologically. So it had already started this early…
Ye Chengxing parted her lips, but ultimately swallowed the words she had been about to say.
Li Jia had never been at fault. She was utterly innocent, having done nothing wrong, yet she alone bore the pain, the accusations, and the insults.
Her nose stung slightly, and she took a deep breath, slowly exhaling.
Li Jia was like a fragile glass sculpture. Ye Chengxing dared not speak too rashly, both from a modern psychological perspective and out of genuine concern. In such moments, time, patience, and gentle methods were crucial to avoid further traumatizing Li Jia. Even well-intentioned words could become weapons the moment they were spoken.
After a pause, Ye Chengxing said, “I bought you breakfast and brought you some water… But first, we need to dry your hair to prevent you from catching a cold. I’ll get the hairdryer and dry it for you. Okay?”
As Li Jia listened to Ye Chengxing’s words, she couldn’t help but think how different this person had become from her previous life. Back then, Ye Chengxing’s acting had been so clumsy that even her warmest smiles couldn’t hide the malice in her eyes. But now, it was as if she had suddenly taken an advanced course in deception, becoming increasingly adept at masking her true intentions. She could practically win an Oscar for her performance.
Li Jia smiled and murmured her agreement, her voice soft and gentle, like a dew-kissed flower fresh from the bath. “Okay.”
Ye Chengxing retrieved the hairdryer.
Li Jia’s hair, slightly curled at the ends, cascaded down to her waist like flowing water or the finest silk.
Afraid of pulling her hair and causing her pain, Ye Chengxing moved with barely audible gentleness throughout the process.
The hairdryers in this world were quite different from those in her previous life. The most striking difference was their efficiency. Li Jia’s waist-length hair dried completely in just a few minutes—a feat that would have taken over half an hour in her old world. Ye Chengxing couldn’t help but feel a sense of wonder.
Still, this saved them time.
Ye Chengxing put down the hairdryer and opened the breakfast bag. The food was still steaming hot, and the water she had just drawn was mixed to a slightly warm temperature—hot enough to be comforting but not scalding. It was the perfect temperature to soothe the stomach.
“Have some water and a bite to eat,” Ye Chengxing said, walking to the window and pulling back the curtains.
Sunlight flooded the room, and Li Jia felt her vision brighten instantly.
She watched Ye Chengxing standing by the window, the Alpha holding the curtain tie, seemingly puzzling over how to tie it more elegantly.
After a moment, Li Jia averted her gaze.
In that brief time, the once cold and lifeless hospital room had transformed. Sunlight streamed through the window, casting long, warm shadows across the floor. The breakfast bag on the table steamed gently, filling the air with the aroma of home-cooked food and a sense of everyday life, as if pulling her back into the human world.
Li Jia tightened her grip on the blade hidden in her hand, her expression unchanged.
What a foreign and blinding scene, she thought.
After being reborn, this psychopath’s methods have become far more sophisticated. She’s even learned to wield this so-called “charm.”
