- Chapter 17 - Wife, How Many Exes Do You Have?
Luo Xiaoxiao regretted opening the door immediately. She had only wanted to hear some gossip, not listen to their childhood grudges from when they were still running around bare-bottomed.
“You stole my snacks when we were kids!” Lu Yu trembled with anger, pointing at Zhu Yuxin’s nose. “There’s no way I’d ever agree to this!”
“Those snacks… you told me… you gave them to me!” Zhu Yuxin turned sideways, not daring to meet Lu Yu’s eyes. “Besides, you clearly enjoyed yourself on the Ferris wheel today.”
Wow~ Pink bubbles began forming in Luo Xiaoxiao’s heart.
“Let me tell you, you were a metal-mouth when you were little! I never wanted to play with you!”
Luo Xiaoxiao was exasperated. Why did they have to argue like this? It was utterly pointless.
After half an hour with still no progress, Luo Xiaoxiao yawned and leaned toward Li Fanshuang. “I’m getting tired. Are you?”
Li Fanshuang checked the time—it was already past eleven—and figured nothing would come of this. They should just leave.
After a quick discussion, they excused themselves to grab some late-night snacks at the restaurant.
Just as they arrived, they ran into Sun Weiliang returning with quite the haul.
And what a haul it was!
Sun Weiliang was carrying Fang Jin on his back while holding two bicycles in each hand, his clothes covered in a thin layer of white frost.
“Tsk, did you get a job at a salt factory?” Luo Xiaoxiao wrinkled her nose in disgust, already imagining how awful Sun Weiliang must smell right now.
Sun Weiliang seemed not to hear her. His gaze was fixed on the dining table—were they eating hot pot?
“Can I have some?”
“I want some too!” The aroma of the hot pot reached Fang Jin’s nose, instantly rousing the sleeping man to his feet.
Sun Weiliang set the bikes down and hesitated, about to speak, but Luo Xiaoxiao raised a hand. “Go take a shower first, please.”
Sun Weiliang stared blankly at himself before nodding numbly. He had already exceeded his workout quota for the day.
But Luo Xiaoxiao was no pushover. She hadn’t forgotten he was still on a fat-loss regimen.
So she thoughtfully prepared him a “Manly Little Juice.”
A carefully blended concoction of chicken br3ast, cucumber, banana, and water, pulverized in a high-speed mixer.
By the time Sun Weiliang finished showering and eagerly returned for the hot pot, Luo Xiaoxiao approached him holding a two-liter jug of the juice.
“Cucumber for fiber, chicken br3ast and protein powder for protein, and a banana for carbs. You’ve got this—next season’s boxing champion is still yours.”
Holding the juice, Sun Weiliang’s face twisted into an expression of grievance for the first time. After only a second’s hesitation, he tilted his head back and chugged the entire two liters in one go.
Finished. Still starving.
Luo Xiaoxiao patted his shoulder. “I have immense respect for every athlete.”
Under Luo Xiaoxiao’s gaze, Sun Weiliang suddenly felt a deep sense of guilt. How could he even think of sneaking food?
His expression hardened with renewed determination, and he turned to head upstairs to sleep.
Luo Xiaoxiao narrowed her eyes, studying Fang Jin beside her. “So, are you two involved now?”
Fang Jin, mid-bite into a rabbit head, didn’t quite catch her meaning. “Huh?”
“I said, have you and Sun Weiliang made it official?” Luo Xiaoxiao cupped her hands around her mouth like a megaphone.
Fang Jin swallowed the meat in his mouth, looking utterly bewildered. “What?”
Luo Xiaoxiao decided not to press further. One’s an idiot, the other’s deaf—if they really ended up together, it’d be quite the struggle.
She took Li Fanshuang’s hand, figuring the two nutcases inside had probably caused enough chaos by now. It was time for them to get some sleep.
Fang Jin was savoring the rabbit head with great relish. “What kind of meat is this? It’s so delicious.”
“Rabbit,” Luo Xiaoxiao replied absentmindedly.
Fang Jin froze at those two words. This was… bunny?
“Wahhh…” Tears overwhelmed him. “Bunnies are so cute, how could anyone eat bunnies…”
Hearing his whimpers, Luo Xiaoxiao tightened her grip on Li Fanshuang’s hand and quickened their pace. “Hurry up, darling! I have megalophobia.”
“Faster, I’m scared of big idiots too,” Li Fanshuang said. She wasn’t usually one to swear, but faced with someone like Fang Jin, even she was willing to set aside her manners for a moment. All that sniveling every day was downright annoying.
Luo Xiaoxiao gave her wife a thumbs-up at that. When it came to things like manners, Luo Xiaoxiao had even fewer to begin with.
When they returned to their room, they found even that space had been invaded—the two nutcases were making out in their living room!
Luo Xiaoxiao nearly lost it at the sight.
“Could you two at least check the cameras before you start sucking face?”
We love watching—keep going!
Yeah, don’t be stingy. How dare you deprive us of seeing other girls kiss!
At Luo Xiaoxiao’s words, Lu Yu and Zhu Yuxin immediately broke apart, their faces flushed with embarrassment.
“I should go,” Lu Yu said, covering her face as she fled.
Zhu Yuxin’s gaze clung to her retreating figure. “Yu Yu, wait for me!”
Her hand was already on the doorknob when she paused. “Oh, by the way, ladies—just a heads-up, the guests are being swapped out.” With that, she left.
Swapped? Luo Xiaoxiao scoffed. So what if they were swapped? It wasn’t like the whole setting was changing. As long as Sun Lei let her keep sleeping in this villa, as long as she wasn’t kicked out, Luo Xiaoxiao swore she’d stay here until she rotted!
But…
That meaningful look in Zhu Yuxin’s eyes made her wonder—did this new guest have some unknown history with Li Fanshuang?
Li Fanshuang squirmed under her wife’s scrutinizing gaze, an inexplicable guilt creeping in. “Darling, why are you looking at me like that?”
Could she have figured out I’m pretending to be an Alpha?
“Do you have some ex I don’t know about?” Luo Xiaoxiao arched a brow.
Li Fanshuang relaxed internally. What ex? She’d been masquerading as an Alpha for years, always keeping to herself. If it weren’t for those rumors claiming she was either faking being an Alpha or secretly gay for not marrying, she wouldn’t have even roped Luo Xiaoxiao into this charade.
“Don’t overthink it. You’re my one and only wife.”
“Mm.” Luo Xiaoxiao hummed in acknowledgment, but she wasn’t buying it. If you’re so innocent, what’s the deal with that other female lead?
Not that Luo Xiaoxiao even knew the other woman’s name. She’d only read up to the original host’s death before tossing the book aside.
Of course, Luo Xiaoxiao wasn’t exactly a saint either. That very night, she gave the book a negative rating, but since she hadn’t purchased the full series, her review was deleted by the system.
Seeing this, Luo Xiaoxiao snorted, turned off her phone, and uninstalled the unfortunate reading app without hesitation.
Trying to scam her out of money? Luckily, the original owner had died before having to pay for anything.
As a result, Luo Xiaoxiao had no idea what happened in the later chapters.
With roughly three years left to live, she began planning how to avoid her impending death.
She wasn’t foolish enough to ask Li Fanshuang whether she’d forgive her if she lied.
Li Fanshuang checked the time and went to freshen up first.
Ding dong—
A notification from a Weibo friend.
It was Nan Jiu’s reply.
Nan Jiu: I wasn’t on Weibo all day
Â
Big Laugh: No worries, I did something really fun today.
Nan Jiu: Cursing out Sun Lei?
Â
Big Laugh: Ugh, don’t even mention him—that guy’s absolute trash…
The long night had just begun, but Luo Xiaoxiao and Li Fanshuang were far from bored.
Luo Xiaoxiao, who usually went to bed early, had turned into a night owl, chatting with who-knows-who under her blanket, muffling her giggles with her hand.
Meanwhile, Li Fanshuang was also fiddling with her phone—her night was just as sleepless…
