“That’s sugar!” Luo Xiaoxiao’s impatient voice rang out from the kitchen once again.
The people sitting in the living room stifled their laughter, all eyes turning toward the kitchen.
Ye Zhao felt a pang of sympathy for Li Fanshuang. “So those rumors online…”
“We probably shouldn’t talk about these things,” Sun Weiliang interjected.
Qin Heya frowned and headed toward the kitchen. “I should go help.”
At this point, everyone was already starving.
“I think the award-winning actress is about to blow up the kitchen,” Lu Yu remarked with disdain, never expecting her idol to have such a glaring weakness.
Inside the kitchen, Luo Xiaoxiao stared despairingly at her wife. In her mind, Li Fanshuang was capable of anything—except cooking.
After Li Fanshuang sliced the potatoes into thick strips yet again, Luo Xiaoxiao couldn’t take it anymore. “Get out!”
Wasting food like this—disgusting capitalist!
Flustered, Li Fanshuang put down the knife, though her expression remained unruffled. “I think I did pretty well, no?”
“Ha?” Luo Xiaoxiao picked out the thinnest strip—still about as thick as a pinky finger—and dangled it in front of Li Fanshuang. “You call this potato shreds?”
“Well…” Li Fanshuang’s brows furrowed slightly, but the rest of her words died in her throat.
Her suit sleeves were now stained, and Luo Xiaoxiao clicked her tongue in disapproval before stepping forward to untie her apron. “If you can’t cook, why did you even come in here?”
“I lost at Truth or Dare,” Li Fanshuang muttered.
“Couldn’t you have just admitted defeat?” Luo Xiaoxiao was torn between laughter and exasperation.
Li Fanshuang scoffed. “That question was outrageous. How would you have answered it?”
Luo Xiaoxiao arched a brow, a sly grin playing on her lips.
Under her gaze, Li Fanshuang felt a chill run down her spine as she recalled the question: What’s your favorite position?
“Easy,” Luo Xiaoxiao said, yanking off the apron and suddenly closing the distance between them. Caught off guard, Li Fanshuang took a step back, her waist bumping against the counter.
The Omega in a white dress, her eyes brimming with mischief, had the impeccably suited Alpha pinned in a kitchen counter embrace.
Just then, Qin Heya pushed open the kitchen door—followed by her live camera crew.
The two women’s compromising position was instantly broadcast to the world.
The barrage of comments exploded.
Woo-hoo~ No need to speculate anymore! Shuangshuang likes the Omega-on-top position.
Not great for the hands, no wonder it only lasts half an hour.
Wait, is Shuangshuang the one who can only last half an hour?
Qin Heya stood awkwardly, watching them.
Spotting the camera behind her, Luo Xiaoxiao buried her face in Li Fanshuang’s chest. “Wifey~”
Her eyes sparkled with delight. Wow, my wife’s got quite the figure.
A vein throbbed at Li Fanshuang’s temple. Don’t lose your temper, don’t lose your temper. She’s an Omega too—it’s fine. Just playing along for the act.
“Sorry about that, Teacher Qin,” Li Fanshuang said smoothly, subtly putting distance between them.
Qin Heya’s expression screamed I totally get it.
“I’m not good at cooking,” Li Fanshuang added, trying to explain.
Luo Xiaoxiao waved her off, her stomach growling again. At this point, she had no energy left to keep up the charade with Li Fanshuang.
“You guys go out first.”
Li Fanshuang wondered if this was appropriate, after all, she was the one who accepted this punishment.
Little did she know Luo Xiaoxiao gave her no chance to continue. With a flick of her wrist, the apron was swiftly tied around her slender waist.
Her figure was delicate, and with the short skirt she was wearing, she looked exactly like those housewife characters from certain unmentionable comics.
Wow~ So gorgeous!
Xiaoxiao my baby! Mommy won’t call you flat-chested anymore.
Hey, the person above, you’re shameless for secretly insulting Xiaoxiao.
Luo Xiaoxiao swiftly salvaged the massacred potato from Li Fanshuang’s hands with a few precise cuts. “Honey, is there anything you’d like to eat?”
What she really wanted to ask was whether Li Fanshuang had any dietary restrictions.
But with the camera pointed right at her, she couldn’t just ask outright.
Such a formal question would practically announce to the audience that their relationship was fake.
Li Fanshuang paused. “I’m fine with anything, just not…” too high in calories for dinner.
“Got it.” Luo Xiaoxiao nodded, slamming the knife down onto the cutting board with a loud thud.
Her demeanor was anything but that of a delicate Omega.
Qin Heya narrowed her eyes slightly, watching as the force of Luo Xiaoxiao’s movements left cracks on the cutting board. Her gaze drifted almost imperceptibly toward the back of Luo Xiaoxiao’s neck.
The colorful suppressant patch concealed Luo Xiaoxiao’s secondary gender traits, masking her true nature.
“Your wife here has quite the strength,” Qin Heya muttered under her breath.
Hearing this, Luo Xiaoxiao stiffened. Though she hadn’t read much of the original novel, she knew exactly how tragic the original owner’s fate had been.
If her identity were exposed, she could end up suffering the same fate at any moment.
“Senior Qin, don’t tease me,” Luo Xiaoxiao said, throwing a flirtatious glance at Li Fanshuang. “My wife rarely comes home, so I’m just excited to cook for her. I got a little carried away.”
Qin Heya chuckled lightly and left the kitchen, giving the two some space.
As soon as she and the camera crew were gone, Luo Xiaoxiao’s carefully crafted persona instantly crumbled. “Do you have any allergies or foods you can’t eat?”
“You weren’t like this earlier,” Li Fanshuang said suspiciously.
Luo Xiaoxiao sighed and turned back to the ingredients. “Even monkeys need overtime pay. You’re paying me a salary, not buying my life.”
Li Fanshuang’s lips twitched. So, you’ve been putting on an act this whole time?
Seeing her frozen in place, Luo Xiaoxiao glanced sideways. “My dear wife, look at the time—it’s already past seven. I’m starving. Exactly how many hours are we supposed to work for this gig?”
Li Fanshuang rubbed her temples. That wasn’t specified in the contract, was it?
“I think we should add that in. We need to strictly follow labor laws, right? Eight hours is a standard shift, anything beyond that is overtime.”
“Stop.” Li Fanshuang raised a hand, nearly getting tangled in her logic. “Didn’t we agree that this was…”
She lowered her voice—she had no intention of letting her private matters inexplicably trend on social media again.
Luo Xiaoxiao looked at her with feigned shyness, pitching her voice higher in a pitiful whine. “You didn’t say that before. You never mentioned the crew wouldn’t feed us on time.”
Seeing Luo Xiaoxiao’s eyes gradually moisten, Li Fanshuang’s heart softened. She handed her a tissue, saying, “Don’t cry. I’ll talk to Sun Lei about it—we’ll make sure to eat on time from now on.”
“Really?” Luo Xiaoxiao snatched the tissue.
“Really,” Li Fanshuang replied helplessly.
“Why did you give me a kitchen towel?!” Luo Xiaoxiao promptly shoved her out of the kitchen.
As Li Fanshuang stepped out, she found the others eavesdropping by the kitchen door.
“You all…” She had only known Luo Xiaoxiao for a few hours, yet everyone around her seemed to have caught some of her eccentricity.
“Tsk, so this is how you like to play, Teacher Li?” Lu Yu clenched her fists, eyes sparkling with excitement.
“I…” Li Fanshuang was at a loss for words.
Zhu Yuxin’s indifferent gaze fell on Li Fanshuang’s fingers. “I heard Alphas go through a fatigue period after thirty. No wonder you prefer that stance.”
Profanities bubbled up in Li Fanshuang’s mind, but she couldn’t voice them on camera.
“Mind your own business!” Lu Yu snapped at Zhu Yuxin. “You don’t even know her age yet you’re spouting nonsense? Teacher Li is only 29!”
“What’s the difference?” Zhu Yuxin scoffed.
Li Fanshuang felt personally attacked.
Ye Zhao walked over and patted her shoulder sympathetically. “Don’t overthink it. The pressure gets to everyone at this stage.”
Li Fanshuang wanted to say she wasn’t stressed—it was all her troublesome “little wife’s” doing.
Half an hour later, the kitchen door opened, releasing the aroma of food.
“Wow, that’s spicy!” Sun Weiliang’s eyes widened at the vibrant red dishes. Was this something he, on a diet, should be eating?
Lu Yu bit her lip hesitantly at the first dish. “Xiaoxiao, I can’t handle spicy food.”
“Don’t worry,” Luo Xiaoxiao reassured her with a smile. “I’ve prepared lighter options for those watching their figure—like our dear wife here.”
“Can I have some too?” Sun Weiliang timidly raised his hand.
Luo Xiaoxiao eyed his belly again. “Are you sure? You’re on a diet, right?”
“Yes,” he admitted honestly.
“Sorry,” Luo Xiaoxiao said apologetically. She hadn’t accounted for him. After counting on her fingers, she realized only the senior artist had exempted himself from dietary restrictions.
She pulled out a cucumber from the kitchen and handed it to Sun Weiliang. “Here, this is yours.”
“This…” Sun Weiliang’s eyes welled up.
Luo Xiaoxiao raised an eyebrow. “Little flying stick~”
“Enough,” Sun Weiliang turned away, sniffling. He couldn’t believe an Omega had bullied him like this. Wuwuwu ┭┮﹏┭┮.
The meal passed in unusual silence—everyone was too hungry after the long wait.
Except for Sun Weiliang’s occasional whimpers.
After dinner, Sun Lei appeared with room assignments.
“Everyone, I know you’re curious about tonight’s sleeping arrangements.”
Luo Xiaoxiao yawned—of course she’d be sharing a room with Li Fanshuang.
But the others’ expressions instantly changed at this point. After all, apart from Li Fanshuang and Luo Xiaoxiao, none of them had openly confirmed their relationship status.
If they refused to share a room now, wouldn’t that imply their relationship was fake?
Everyone fell silent, waiting to see what the production team would do next.
Sun Lei clapped his hands. “We’ve prepared suites for everyone—each room has two bedrooms.”
Luo Xiaoxiao heard the others exhale in relief. So she wasn’t the only one tense about this.
After getting their keycards, Luo Xiaoxiao and Li Fanshuang headed to their room.
But the production team’s antics didn’t stop there.
Once inside, Luo Xiaoxiao was stunned to find a camera installed in the room.
Seriously? Is this some kind of setup?
Does Li Fanshuang’s room have one too?
——
Back in her own room, Li Fanshuang had just settled in when she noticed something on the ceiling. She was torn—part of her wanted Luo Xiaoxiao to come over, while another part dreaded it.
After all, Luo Xiaoxiao had been yammering nonstop all day without a single pause.
Knock knock knock—
A deliberately exaggerated voice slipped through the door crack. “Wifey~, I’m coming in~”
Li Fanshuang covered her face in resignation. Of course. My karma has arrived.
“Ah~, you’ve got a camera here too? Then how are we supposed to… um…”
Li Fanshuang understood immediately—Luo Xiaoxiao clearly didn’t like being watched while sleeping either—and smoothly played along. “Let’s just cover it up.”
“Sure, sure~”
The two “naturally” blocked the camera.
Just as Li Fanshuang sighed in relief, Luo Xiaoxiao’s eyes sharpened. She leaned in close to whisper, “The mic’s still on.”
What do we do? Li Fanshuang mouthed.
Luo Xiaoxiao tapped her chest, flashed an “OK” sign, and gave her a leave it to me look.
Li Fanshuang eyed her skeptically. What’s she planning? Trust her with this? I’ll lose my mind.
Luo Xiaoxiao took a deep breath—
“Mmm~”
Li Fanshuang’s pupils shook in horror. What is she doing?!
“Ah~, wifey, don’t be so impatient… H-hey, stop… The skirt’s too short, just come here already~”
