The Blind Love Life of the Returning Hero: The Companions I Lost in Another World Resurrect in the Modern Era and Indulge Me - Episode 12
“This is the place.”
Seika’s car came to a stop in the parking lot in front of a luxurious general hospital. The massive, modern glass building reflected the evening sky beautifully.
“This hospital is huge,” Hayato said, stepping out of the car and looking up.
Josuke added an explanation.
“This is one of the top medical centers in Tokyo. It’s famous for having the most advanced medical equipment.”
Riri, looking a bit nervous at the sheer size of the hospital, asked,
“Seika, do you work here?”
Seika shook her head as she stepped out of the car.
“No. But I have strong connections here through a research project. Today, I’m using those connections.”
With Seika leading the way, they entered the building. She checked her watch and urged the others forward.
“Everything should be ready. Let’s get this done before it gets too late.”
As soon as they stepped into the lobby, a man in a white coat approached smoothly.
“Dr. Morishita, we’ve been expecting you.”
He treated Seika with great respect, and some of the nearby staff, upon recognizing her, gave her small bows.
Thanks to Seika’s prior arrangements, Hayato and the others only had to go through minimal reception procedures before being guided to the examination rooms.
“I’m sorry, but all the tests will take about an hour,” Seika explained.
“I want to collect the most accurate data possible.”
Hayato and the others underwent a series of state-of-the-art tests: they were fitted with what looked like expensive machines, lay inside large scanners, and had MRI, CT scans, bl00d tests, strength and reflex tests, and more—a truly extensive battery of examinations.
During the tests, Hayato noticed the doctors and staff looking surprised as they reviewed his data. They seemed to be moving around in a flurry. Was something wrong? Still, he followed their instructions and continued the exams calmly.
About an hour later, the four of them gathered in a private examination room. Seika, now wearing a white coat and holding a tablet, was reviewing the results. Bathed in the light of the setting sun streaming through the window, her profile overlapped with the image of the priestess they had known in the other world.
“I’ll start with the results,” Seika said as she tapped on the tablet. She turned her gaze to Riri and Josuke.
“For starters, there were no problems with Riri and Josuke. Their numbers are generally above average, but they’re both in excellent health. I also confirmed there are no issues from the reincarnation or memory recovery. No major changes.”
Riri and Josuke looked visibly relieved.
“That’s good to hear.”
“Healthy, huh. That’s nice.”
Seika’s expression tightened a little as she continued.
“However, there could still be undetectable issues related to phenomena like reincarnation or memory changes—things current science can’t explain.”
She spoke like a true professional.
“But at this point, there are no such signs. So, there’s no need for excessive worry.”
Hearing that, Hayato let out a breath of relief. His friends were okay. And with Seika’s judgment, he felt confident in that conclusion.
“Now, about Hayato…”
Seika’s tone changed. She took a deep breath, her expression becoming serious.
“What is it? Is something wrong?”
Hayato leaned forward anxiously.
Seeing Seika’s slightly clouded expression, Hayato began to worry that there was something seriously wrong with his body. The pain he had felt when returning from the other world might have been the sign of a serious illness. Memories of incurable curses and diseases from the other world resurfaced in his mind.
Riri looked at Seika with concern, while Josuke folded his arms, frowning. Tension filled the room as all three waited in silence.
After a brief pause, Seika raised her head.
“Sorry to worry you. Hayato is incredibly healthy. There’s not a single illness.”
“Then… why the serious face?”
Riri asked, still worried but slightly relieved.
Seika showed Hayato the tablet. The screen was filled with figures and graphs.
“All the numbers are off the charts—physical strength, muscle power, reflexes, dynamic vision. I’ve never seen anything like it.”
She spoke with a grave tone.
“I’ve worked with many top athletes as a researcher. But not even elite professionals produce numbers like this.”
“It’s that extreme?” Hayato asked, astonished.
Seika nodded.
“Yes. It’s not an exaggeration to say your physical abilities are the highest in human history.”
She pointed to the peak of a graph.
“This is the average. This is an Olympic gold medalist. And this… is you.”
Hayato’s data towered above the rest, almost overflowing from the screen. As Seika scrolled, more graphs appeared—all showing the same exceptional results.
“If you entered the Olympics, you could win gold in any event,” she said.
It was clear now that the experiences from the other world had greatly altered his body. After the pain faded, he had felt in incredible shape.
A normal office worker had become someone with top-tier physical capabilities. Hayato stared at his palm, now fully aware of the power that resided within him.
“But… is that what you’re worried about?” Riri asked.
Seika nodded gravely.
“This information could draw the wrong kind of attention. These are private results, and I’ve told them not to leak anything, but there’s always a risk it could get out.”
Josuke added to her concern.
“Even if the results stay private, someone might notice from how he acts in daily life. Then people might come for him—saying they want to study him or worse.”
“That would be awful,” Hayato said, his expression turning serious.
“You mean… he might be treated like a research subject?” Riri asked anxiously.
“In the worst-case scenario, yes,” Seika replied quietly.
“With abilities that exceed human limits, medical and military institutions—or other organizations—might take interest.”
Hayato fell silent. He didn’t want that kind of attention. In the other world, he had been in the spotlight as a hero, but that was to fulfill his mission. Now, he just wanted to live a peaceful life with his friends.
“That’d be a pain,” he muttered.
“I don’t want to be some kind of spectacle.”
“Well, if it comes to that, I’ll protect you with everything I’ve got,” Seika said brightly, suddenly shifting her tone.
“I’ll publicly claim you as my research subject first so that no other institutions can touch you. I won’t let anyone else take you.”
“I-is that so…”
Hayato flinched at the word “research subject,” prompting Seika to quickly clarify.
“Kidding. Well—half-kidding.”
She smiled gently, kindness in her eyes.
“Of course, I’d never treat you like a specimen. It’s just something I’m considering as a last resort. But yes, as a scientist, I am curious where this ability comes from. And I worry if it could have negative side effects.”
Hayato nodded, slightly reassured.
“But really, we do need to be cautious,” Seika said, turning serious again.
“Especially in public. Try not to do anything that would make you stand out.”
“Got it. I’ll be careful.”
“Anyway,” she continued, wrapping things up, “at this point, there’s nothing wrong with our health. So at least we can be at ease on that front.”
She set the tablet on the table and slipped her hand into her coat pocket.
“Let’s keep checking regularly to monitor for changes. If anything feels off, contact me right away.”
“Thanks. I’m really glad we did this and got everything checked out,” Hayato said gratefully.
Riri and Josuke also thanked Seika.
“No need to thank me. We’re friends. Of course I’d help.”
Seika smiled warmly.
Hayato was deeply reminded of her caring nature. Just like when she had protected them as the elven priestess Celestia in the other world, she was now watching over their health as a doctor in this world. Her core had not changed, no matter the world.
“Anyway, it’s gotten pretty late. How about we all go out for dinner? I know a great restaurant nearby,” Seika suggested, taking off her white coat and flashing a gentle smile.
“Sounds great!” Riri said, eyes sparkling.
“Count me in,” Josuke nodded.
“To celebrate our reunion,” Hayato agreed.
With that, the four of them left the hospital together.
