- Episode 30 - Memories of Another World
Hayato took a deep breath and began to trace his memories. For a moment, the atmosphere in the studio felt like it had frozen.
“About ten years ago, I was suddenly enveloped in a blinding light…”
He spoke carefully, choosing his words. There was a sense of nostalgia in his voice.
“When I came to, I was in an unfamiliar world. And the first person I met there…”
As Hayato glanced at Lilia’s avatar, his expression softened. His voice naturally became gentler.
“…was Lilia.”
Upon hearing this, Lilia’s avatar also narrowed her eyes as if tracing an old memory. It was as if the scenes from the past were reflected in her gaze.
“I was… the one in charge of a certain ritual,” she said, carefully picking her words. It wasn’t that she was hiding something, but rather that she was trying to find the right expression—for something deeply important to her.
“And the person who appeared from that ritual was Hayato. Though… he wasn’t quite what we were expecting.”
She gave a knowing smile, a mix of her past bewilderment and her current fondness.
“At first, I was confused.”
Lilia was the first companion Hayato met. From the start of his adventure, he encountered various allies. Though ten years had passed, and some memories had faded, others remained vivid. They recalled and shared those moments.
Hayato understood that this—this kind of space—was likely what Riri had been searching for. A place where they could openly talk about the other world without hiding anything. Because hiding it forever would be exhausting.
Just like how he had joined a security company, seeking a place where he could fully exert himself. A place where he and his companions could talk about their otherworldly experiences. A place that could serve as an emotional anchor. So they wouldn’t forget that world.
On one monitor, Josuke’s eyes scanned the data, analyzing reactions. Meanwhile, John’s avatar joined the reminiscing.
“Back then, I was living as an information broker in the capital’s market. I heard rumors about the summoning of a hero, so I started investigating.”
John’s avatar shrugged lightly in sync with his words, his refined movements reflecting his personality as an ex-informant.
“It was a coincidence that I met John. I had to prove myself worthy of being a hero and was sent to some ancient ruins.”
Hayato looked down as if recalling the past.
“Honestly, it was really tough at first. I was scared.”
He admitted it candidly.
“I didn’t know anything, and they told me to go to some mysterious place.”
“But you went anyway.”
Lilia’s voice was quiet, but carried the tone of confirming something important.
“That’s when I started to believe in you.”
Even after all this time, her words were filled with unshakable certainty.
“I joined as a companion by chance, but we’ve been together ever since.”
Their first adventure started with Hayato, Lilia, and John. While reminiscing, a small technical hiccup occurred. The avatars on screen froze for a moment, stuck in unnatural positions.
“Huh?”
“Looks like the motion tracking glitched for a second.”
Riri quickly typed on the keyboard. A faint crease of tension formed between her brows, but she remained calm.
“It’s fine. It’ll be back up right away.”
After a brief silence, the avatars moved smoothly again. The issue was quickly fixed.
The comments responded:
—“Did they just fix that in real time?”
—“Incredible tech!”
—“That was quick. Didn’t even notice.”
—“Made it feel even more real, honestly.”
Hayato resumed the conversation, doing his best not to dwell on the issue.
“Anyway, when I met John in the marketplace…”
“Oh yeah, that happened.”
John responded nostalgically.
“If not for your intel, we’d have fallen into danger many times.”
Hayato’s words were filled with gratitude for past struggles and his companions.
Then, Celestia’s avatar gave a graceful nod, her gesture filled with elegance, reminiscent of the elven priestess she once was.
“Hayato and I met when he was injured and brought to the Forest Temple.”
“At that time…”
Hayato’s words trailed off, his gaze distant.
“It was after I’d been summoned and had survived several battles. I’d become overconfident.”
Regret tinged his voice.
“You tried to save too many people. ‘Reckless’ would be the perfect word for it.”
Celestia smiled gently.
“But the choices you made back then saved many lives.”
Her words carried affirmation and acceptance of the past.
“I met Gallet even later.”
Hayato shifted the topic, turning to another avatar. Gallet’s avatar, with his imposing build, radiated presence even through the screen.
“Yeah,” Gallet said, nodding deeply. His low voice carried both strength and warmth.
“When we were on the verge of destruction in that battle, you and your group came to help.”
He recalled the event, choosing his words carefully.
“I didn’t trust humans at first, but seeing how you fought made me decide to walk alongside you.”
They took turns speaking, recalling the same events from different perspectives. Joking at times, serious at others, they wove their shared memories together.
Just reminiscing about how they met made time fly. Their memories were that rich and vivid.
“Oh wow, look at the time.”
Hayato noticed it was already the end of the scheduled stream. The comment section was buzzing with excitement.
—“This story is insanely immersive!”
—“It feels weirdly real.”
—“The character interactions are so natural.”
—“The avatars are so well done; the emotions really come through.”
—“So… what happens next?”
Riri smiled quietly as she read the comments. Her wish was beginning to come true. They were sharing memories of another world with people in this one. People were getting to know Hayato’s journey. And his heroic tale was only just beginning.
“Well then, that’s it for today’s stream,” Riri said, wrapping things up—though she still had more she wanted to talk about. The comments responded again:
—“Nooo, I want more!”
—“The story’s just getting good!”
—“That was amazing. I’m hooked.”
Seeing those comments made Hayato and the others happy. It was clear the audience had enjoyed it.
“We’ll continue the story in the next stream,” Hayato said with a graceful bow.
“Thank you all very much for watching,” he added with a gentle smile.
“Thank you,” Celestia said, smiling serenely.
“See you next time,” John said, waving.
“Join us again,” Gallet nodded strongly.
“We’ll be waiting,” Lilia said, her soft smile wrapping it all up.
One by one, the five avatars expressed their gratitude and farewells to the viewers, and Hayato pressed the “end stream” button. He finally let out a deep breath.
“Phew…”
As the stream ended, each of them relaxed visibly, the tension easing from their shoulders. Especially Hayato, who had done most of the talking, leaned back in his chair, a mix of fatigue and satisfaction on his face.
“I’m sorry. The motion capture system glitched for a moment,” Riri said apologetically. Her perfectionist nature made her dwell on even small mistakes.
“It’s alright. You handled it quickly, and it wasn’t a big deal,” Hayato reassured her. No matter how perfectly you prepare, things like that happen. It’s just part of the process.
“Yes, you’re right,” she said, a frustrated look briefly crossing her face before turning into one of determination. Her eyes now sparkled with a renewed resolve.
“I’ll have it completely fixed by the next stream.”
Hayato believed in her. Just looking into her serious eyes was enough to know that she’d fix the issue. And luckily, the glitch hadn’t caused major trouble this time.
“Still, the reactions were way beyond what I expected,” Josuke said, looking at the data on his tablet with a satisfied expression.
“The viewer comments were so warm,” Seika said thoughtfully.
“It was a strange feeling, looking back on the past with everyone. But being able to share our story in this world… it’s a wonderful thing.”
“It really is,” Riri agreed with a nod.
“It was fun,” Tsuyoshi said as he looked at the monitors, nodding in satisfaction.
Applause filled the studio.
“Great work, everyone!”
“That was amazing!”
“An incredible success for a first stream!”
The staff members offered praise one after another, their faces filled with genuine excitement and emotion.
With a large audience, and viewers who had been captivated by their story, Hayato and his friends knew the stream had been a success.
Thus, their very first broadcast came to a close on a high note. The story of the brave warriors who once fought in another world had now been revived through modern technology, beginning to reach and touch the hearts of many in this one.
