The Blind Love Life of the Returning Hero: The Companions I Lost in Another World Resurrect in the Modern Era and Indulge Me - Episode 39
The boarding process went more smoothly than Hayato had expected. It seemed that Josuke had prepared all the necessary documents in advance, and Go had arranged for them to be treated as VIPs, allowing for priority processing. After checking in their luggage and receiving their boarding cards, the group followed the staff into the grand interior of the ship.
“It’s huge inside too!”
Riku’s voice echoed as the adults looked up in awe. The lobby ceiling soared high above, with a glittering chandelier overhead. The area was bustling with foreign tourists, and voices in various languages filled the air.
“First, let’s go through the safety briefing.”
Led by a staff member, the group was guided to a small theater room to watch a video explaining emergency procedures. Hayato paid close attention, carefully committing the information to memory.
Once the explanation ended, they were free to move about the ship.
“Let me show you to your rooms.”
The group then split up. Hayato and Josuke would share a room, Riri and Seika another, and the Tetsumura family would use a family suite.
“Let’s meet up at the main dining room after we drop off our things,” Go suggested before they parted.
“Lunch service should be starting soon.”
Hayato and Josuke’s room was located slightly toward the rear of the ship’s center. When they opened the door, they were greeted by a space more spacious than expected.
“Whoa.”
“This is amazing,” Josuke said as he began inspecting the room piece by piece. Two large beds, a TV and desk, and a roomy sofa furnished the room. The bathroom was spacious, with a bathtub-equipped shower room.
But what stood out the most was the balcony. Sliding open the glass door revealed a private space with a sweeping view and chairs equipped with ottomans.
“We haven’t departed yet, so the view’s just a big parking lot for now,” Hayato said as he looked out. Still, he imagined the ocean view would be breathtaking once they set sail.
“Yeah, I bet the view’ll be fantastic once we’re out at sea.”
The two of them stood there for a while, quietly taking in the scenery. Doing nothing — a luxurious kind of time.
“Well, shall we get going?” Josuke checked his watch.
“Lunch in the main dining room is about to start.”
“Let’s go.”
They made their way to the deck with the main dining room. The spacious dining area was already filled with passengers. A waiter guided them to a wonderful table by the window.
“Please enjoy your meal here.”
The waiter handed them menus.
“May I take your drink order?”
“Hmm… let’s see… what should I get?” Hayato said as he glanced over the menu, unsure.
“I’ll have this,” Josuke said, ordering a sparkling wine without hesitation. Hayato ended up ordering the same. Shortly after they placed their orders, the Tetsumura family joined them.
“Our room was amazing!”
“Oh? What was so amazing?” Go asked.
Riku, excited, started talking.
“Our room has a kids’ room! And it has a TV and games too!”
“That sounds great,” Hayato said with a smile at the boy’s innocent excitement. Soon after, Riri and Seika arrived, and the whole group was together.
“How was your room?” Hayato asked.
Riri’s eyes sparkled.
“It was wonderful! The bathroom is really spacious, and the amenities are fantastic!”
“I can’t wait to see the view once we’re at sea!”
Her expression showed a pure joy that was different from the adventurous spirit she had shown in another world.
“Seika, you’ve traveled abroad a lot for work, right? You must be used to this kind of travel.”
“I often fly, but it’s been a while since I’ve been on a ship. And it’s been even longer since I could relax and enjoy it like this.”
Seika answered with a smile. Usually immersed in her research, she seemed more relaxed than usual today.
Then the waiter brought out appetizers — beautifully presented shrimp cocktails that brightened the table. This was followed by hearty American-style meat dishes.
“This is delicious,” Hayato commented honestly.
“I heard the ship’s chef trained at a Michelin-starred restaurant,” Josuke added knowledgeably.
“Mom, this is yummy!”
“Yes, Aoi. It is delicious,” Aoi’s mother replied, smiling down at her daughter.
Watching the scene warmed Hayato’s heart. He felt grateful for being able to share such peaceful moments.
“I heard tomorrow we’ll be sailing all day, and we’ll arrive at the first port the day after,” Josuke informed the group while checking the itinerary.
Naturally, the conversation shifted toward their travel plans. Seika suggested exploring the sightseeing spots onboard, Riri shared information she had looked up in advance, and the kids insisted on visiting the onboard aquarium.
As they chatted, dessert arrived — a simple-looking strawberry shortcake. But one bite revealed a perfect balance of tartness and sweetness. The adults enjoyed coffee while the children had juice.
“Is it almost time to depart?” Josuke asked while checking the time.
“Then let’s go to the deck and watch the moment we set sail,” Hayato suggested.
“Great idea!”
The group moved to the ship’s deck. At the terminal, people could be seen waving their goodbyes. Under the blue sky, the sea breeze gently brushed their cheeks.
Just then, a gong rang out across the ship — a signal of departure. A deep horn followed, and the massive vessel began to move slowly.
“We’re off!” Riku and Aoi shouted.
Right on schedule, the ship left the port and began its course toward the open sea.
Hayato leaned against the deck railing with his friends, watching the port slowly fade into the distance. Anticipation for the journey ahead began to swell in his heart.
