“How did the server load test go?”
When Go asked, the leader of the technical team nodded with confidence. The elite IT engineers dispatched from the Tetsumura Group had been working for days preparing for the game’s release.
“No problems at all. We’ve completed the scaling settings to handle up to 500,000 simultaneous downloads. The cloud server’s auto-scaling feature is also implemented, so even if it exceeds that number, we can manage it.”
Hearing that, Hayato and Lili looked at each other in surprise. They hadn’t expected preparations to be that thorough. Seeing their reactions, Go spoke up.
“Of course. There’s so much attention on this. We want to prevent as many issues as possible.”
Go’s voice carried both the calmness of a seasoned businessman and the warmth of someone who genuinely wanted the team’s work to succeed.
Since the livestream announcement of the game’s official release date, major gaming news sites had been featuring it prominently. On social media, multiple hashtags related to the game Lili had developed were trending rapidly, with comments full of speculation and anticipation.
“A Full-Fledged Action RPG by a Vtuber Group—Official Release Finally Here!”
Go read aloud the title of an article on his smartphone.
“The Game That Made Waves with Its Stunning Demo Is Finally Releasing the Full Version. Even Industry Professionals Are Paying Close Attention.”
“It’s drawing more attention than I imagined,” Hayato muttered.
Lili, a little nervous, began checking her laptop screen again. She had been obsessively going over everything, repeating the final checks before launch. Her fingers moved swiftly across the keyboard as she reviewed the program’s code line by line.
“You’re good, Lili. You’ve checked it enough already,” Hayato said, gently placing a hand on her shoulder.
Lili closed her eyes briefly and took a deep breath.
“But if something goes wrong… People won’t be able to experience your memories from the other world. I can’t let that happen.”
Her words were filled with sincerity. This wasn’t just entertainment. It was a way to preserve and share the memories and bonds formed in another world. Especially for Lili, this project also carried her gratitude and admiration for Hayato.
“But it’s already 7 PM. Maybe it’s time to go home?”
“Just a little longer. There’s one part in the final check that’s bothering me.”
“Alright. Just a little.”
Lili continued carefully reviewing every detail. Hayato contacted her parents to let them know she’d be late.
“Done. All preparations for tomorrow’s launch are now complete.”
After about an hour of reviewing, she finally nodded in satisfaction and finished preparing the final build for release.
“Good job. You really worked hard,” Hayato said honestly.
“Thank you. I couldn’t have done it without everyone’s support,” Lili replied, smiling with relief.
Then she began packing up. Hayato and Josuke escorted her home.
After safely seeing Lili home, Hayato and Josuke returned to their own places. On the way, Josuke shared some news. As they walked through the nighttime streets, the two discussed the big event awaiting them the next day.
“Even though it’s being released as a free game, we’re getting inquiries from multiple game companies wanting to model their monetization strategies after our approach of using merchandise sales to recoup development costs.”
“Really?” Hayato responded, slightly surprised. He didn’t know much about the business side of the game industry, but it amazed him that it was drawing so much attention.
“We didn’t plan it this way from the start. It all began with Lili’s desire to share the memories from the other world.”
“Yeah. Her goal wasn’t money.”
Hayato recalled when Lili first proposed developing the game. Her goal back then was clear. She had worked so hard to fulfill it, and Hayato had watched over her the whole time.
“But if it turns out to be a successful business, that’s great too. The Tetsumura Group is also seeing it as a potential new revenue model for IVE.”
Josuke analyzed the situation coolly.
“By the way, how’s the multilingual version going?”
The game was planned for a global release, with translations into multiple languages. Hayato asked if preparations were in place. Josuke answered while tapping his tablet.
“No worries. It supports five languages: English, Chinese, Korean, Spanish, and French. The translation team has finished their final checks. It’s ready.”
“I never imagined it would become this big.”
Hayato looked up at the night sky, filled with emotion.
“It’s all thanks to your incredible journey in the other world. I completely understand why Lili wanted to share that. And why she wants it to launch without any issues.”
“Yeah. But I hope she doesn’t push herself too hard.”
Hayato was proud of Lili’s dedication, but he also worried. In this world, at least, she wouldn’t end up sacrificing her life like back then.
“In any case, let’s hope for a smooth launch. We’ve done everything we could.”
“Right. I’m sure it’ll be okay. Let’s believe in the results.”
The moment the game launched, news came in that it had surpassed one million downloads in an instant. The servers held up under the expected load, and the system ran smoothly. All their careful preparation had paid off.
By lunchtime, the download count had already exceeded five million. Access was flooding in from all over the world. Game streamers everywhere were uploading their playthroughs, and hashtags related to the game were trending globally on social media.
A message arrived on Hayato’s phone from an excited Lili.
“Hayato! This is incredible! So many people are experiencing our adventure!”
Hayato smiled quietly at the message. The memories of life-and-death battles in another world were now being shared with countless others. It felt strange, but also heartwarming.
“That’s wonderful. Your hard work has truly paid off, Lili.”
As soon as Hayato replied, Lili messaged back.
“I’m so happy that I can share your heroic tale with so many people. Now, the memories will live on in everyone’s hearts.”
