Episode 13: Heart-Pounding Cooking Showdown (With Off-the-Board Tactics)!?
After successfully dragging her master Diana out of the archive, Menou seemed to have some alchemist work she absolutely had to take care of. So she ate a quick breakfast and left the party house.
“Onii-chan! I’ll finish quickly and come right back…! So wait for me, okay!”
She really hated even being apart from Phil for just a moment. She was crying big tears.
“Take care, Menou. I’ll be waiting!”
“No, no, nooo! I don’t wanna go to wooork! Uwaaaah!”
“Do your best!”
“Ou– Oongyaaah!”
On the other hand, Phil was happy that his once-sickly little sister was now healthy enough to be relied on for work.
“Well then… I’ve got to do my best too. So I can return to my normal life!”
After seeing Menou off, who had grown up so well, Phil wiped his eyes and renewed his determination.
He couldn’t possibly join an S-rank party while still so inexperienced. But that didn’t mean anyone would let him go off on adventures alone either.
They’d worked so hard to bring him back to life. Hence he should avoid risking his life again.
“For now, I’ll study magic with Master…”
Phil hadn’t completely given up on becoming an adventurer again. But for now, he decided to do his best as a disciple.
“Please take care of me, Master.”
“…Huh? Ah, yeah! That’s right… ehe, ehehe…”
His master had been standing absentmindedly beside him. When he spoke to her, that was her reaction.
Most likely, she’d been deep in her own world and hadn’t heard any of the conversation up until now.
“From now on, I’ll work hard as your disciple.”
“F-First, I’ll teach you that Clean magic I just used…! If you learn that, you won’t need to bathe anymore…”
On the way here, Diana had used a magic called Clean to clean her clothes and body.
Being told she smelled musty by Phil must’ve been a bit of a shock.
However, Clean was originally a spell meant to purify dirty water. And using it outside of its intended purpose consumes a lot of mana and puts strain on the body.
It’s basically better to just take a proper bath.
“Don’t be lazy. Please take proper baths.”
“O-Okay…”
“Master, you’re way too sloppy in general. You should try to be more like Menou!”
“D-Didn’t she just throw a tantrum like a baby a minute ago…?”
Just as Diana said that with a troubled look—
“Ah—Diana’s here! Good morning!”
“…Come to think of it, I forgot to tell her about Phil.”
From behind, came the voices of Raika and Beruda.
“G-Good morning… or rather, long time no see…?”
“Good morning, Raika.”
Diana greeted them in a quiet voice. It was followed by Phil.
—And so, everyone currently in the party house had gathered on the first floor.
“We trained hard today. So I’m super hungry!”
“Wah!?”
Raika casually slipped behind Phil and hugged him. She was pressing her large chest against his back.
“You’re always hungry though.”
“What’s that supposed to mean? Beruda, you’re so mean!”
Apparently, the two of them had been training until now. Raika smelled nice. It was as if she had just rinsed off sweat in the shower.
“You’re hungry too, right, Phil?”
“I-I… yeah… I’m hungry…”
Raika had completely taken the lead. And Phil, blushing deeply, could do nothing but agree.
“Wasn’t it different when I hugged you…?”
There existed a clear hierarchy based on bust size.
“…Master, please help me.”
“Hmm… Sorry, that’s impossible.”
“………………”
Thus, Diana slowly lost credibility little by little.
“Wait for me, Phil. I’ll make you a delicious breakfast.”
“Beruda, could you even cook by yourself?”
“Menou taught me. Don’t underestimate ten years of experience.”
Beruda declared confidently.
As an S-rank adventurer, cooking monsters defeated in the dungeon is an everyday thing—so it’s not unusual.
“Beruda and Menou’s cooking is delicious! —Right after mine, of course!”
“That’s just a matter of taste. Since Menou taught me, I’m sure I can make what Phil likes best.”
“Hmph. So, you think you can beat me?”
“Of course. I’ve spent more time with Phil, after all.”
Triggered by Phil’s question, Raika and Beruda suddenly started competing. And the peaceful mood vanished.
“Well then, let’s settle this. —See who’s better.”
“I’ve been waiting for this…!”
“You two, stop fighting, okay? Hellooo…?”
And thus began the fierce, no-holds-barred cooking showdown between Raika and Beruda.
“If you just want to feel full, there’s always the magic Full Belly…”
By the way, Diana can’t cook at all. If she gets hungry, she uses magic to solve it—an abnormal elf.
Of course, that magic is worse for the body than she realizes.
*
The suddenly-started cooking battle had very simple rules.
Beruda would cook breakfast, Raika would cook lunch, and Phil would judge which was tastier.
“Um, I’ll help out too…”
“Phil, that’d ruin the point of the contest, right? Leave it to me and sit tight.”
“………………O-Okay.”
Phil’s offer was flatly rejected.
“To offer help on your own… Phil, you’re such a good boy. *Pat, pat.*”
As they waited for breakfast, Raika kept Phil on her lap and gently patted his head.
“It’s a big difference from the me before who was only interested in eating.”
“Ah, ahaha…”
Among the three, Raika was the softest and most well-padded. The reason was obvious—she ate an abnormal amount.
To keep his peace of mind, Phil stared at the flat chest of his master sitting across from him.
“If anything’s bothering you, you can talk to me anytime, okay?”
“Huh…?”
Raika whispered in Phil’s ear as he sat there all flustered.
“You’re the only boy, right…? It’s gotta be hard, yeah?”
“W-What do you mean…?”
“Anytime is fine, okay, Phil! I can’t wait until it gets bigger…!”
“W-Wait, what do you mean by that!?”
The stormy cooking battle (with off-the-board tactics) had only just begun.
