The Cannon Fodder NPC Went Too Far [Quick Transmigration] - Chapter 14
Chapter 14
After a circuitous route of twists and turns, Xia Yu finally managed to lead the female lead out. Xia Yu raised a brilliant smile and waved at her.
The female lead stared blankly at the bustling street, her slender hands gripping Xia Yu’s sleeve tightly as she sobbed: “I have nowhere to go. Could you shelter me for one night? Please. I, Jiang Xiaoxiao, will repay your great kindness for the rest of my life.”
Clutching Xia Yu like a lifeline, the female lead looked at her with pleading eyes, on the verge of kneeling, truly pitiful.
Xia Yu thought for a moment, handed her a business card, and gave her the address of a hotel under the Xia family.
“My name is Xia Yu. Take my card and go to this hotel. You can stay for a month if you wish.” Xia Yu thoughtfully hailed a taxi for the female lead, pulling the hotel bathrobe she had “borrowed” tighter around her.
“There’s no need to repay me. It was just a small favor, not worth mentioning. Go back to the hotel, take a hot shower, get a good night’s sleep, and think about anything else when you wake up. Have sweet dreams.” Xia Yu smiled at the female lead, her eyes remaining bright and radiant, full of vitality that rushed forth and never dimmed.
There was no pity, no strangeness, no doubt—only her usual brilliance, as if nothing could ever crush her.
The female lead nodded seriously.
After sending the female lead off, Xia Yu rushed back to the bar just moments before the male lead emerged.
The system held its breath, and upon seeing her finally arrive, it complained in a low voice: “Host, you were almost late.”
“Didn’t I make it?” Xia Yu slowly exhaled, raising her chin casually, her eyes fixed on the tightly closed door she had stared at countless times before.
The system opened its mouth, about to warn the host against tempting fate, when it received a notification and nervously announced: “The male lead is coming out now!”
Xia Yu nodded, swirling the empty glass in her hand, and looked up at the door.
The bar she was in was the largest in B City. It was extremely popular among wealthy scions due to its diverse entertainment options, robust security, and strict confidentiality measures. The first floor featured a large stage and several private rooms. The floors above were a hotel, convenient for them to rest after playing or for other activities. There was even a casino and other entertainment options in the basement.
Shen Tingyu’s room was the premier Private Room No. 1, located at the very end of the retro, dimly lit hallway. Her current location, the bar on the east side of the stage, directly faced the exit of his hallway. She had cleared the area once before, so it was quite spacious.
The hallway was narrow, leaving no room for fighting or escaping. Her current position was perfect. More importantly, if she and Shen Tingyu started fighting and wrecked the bar, the bar’s bodyguards probably wouldn’t interfere.
Those capable of standing strong in B City for so many years must have long memorized the identities of people connected to powerful families like theirs. Thus, she had no concerns on that front. Even when Xia Yu in the novel was in an awkward position, they didn’t lay a hand on her. Xia Yu ordered a few more drinks.
With a soft creak, the red-faced Shen Tingyu was helped out by two of his friends, one on each side. Behind them, burly bodyguards in black suits followed cautiously, their eyes scanning the surroundings.
Shen Tingyu’s head was down, and he was swaying as he walked toward the second floor. Then, a remarkably familiar tone of mockery drifted into his ear. His eyes turned bloodshot, and he suddenly looked up.
He saw Xia Yu sitting with her legs crossed and her chin raised, gently swirling her wine glass. She glanced contemptuously at the drunken, defeated Shen Tingyu and sneered: “Oh, isn’t this the Shen family’s eldest legitimate grandson? It’s only been a few days, and he’s already reduced to this state. Was he disciplined by Shen Zheng and came to the bar late at night to cry into his drinks? How promising.”
With that, she stood up, looked down at him, scoffed provocatively a few times, extended her thumb, and slowly rotated it 180 degrees so it pointed straight down.
These words and actions were like pouring oil on a fire. Shen Tingyu violently pushed away the hands supporting him, straightened up unsteadily, leaned forward, stumbled, and swung his fist at Xia Yu’s face.
Xia Yu sidestepped the blow. Before Shen Tingyu, whose vision was spinning and who hadn’t fully recovered from his drunkenness, could react, she raised the corner of her mouth aggressively, grabbed the freshly ordered wine glass from the bar, and poured it directly onto his face.
The liquor instantly ruined his hairstyle. The cold liquid slid down his cheeks and into his collar, bringing a chill.
“Young Master Shen is probably still drunk. Miss me is feeling merciful and decided to help you sober up. You’re welcome,” the arrogant female voice rang out over Shen Tingyu’s head.
Shen Tingyu was stunned for a moment, then his entire face twisted in rage. Veins popped on his forehead, and he trembled all over with anger.
“Xia Yu, you’re looking for death! Without Shen Zheng today, killing you is easy. Attack, all of you! I don’t care if she lives or dies!” Shen Tingyu screamed at the bodyguards who were constantly surging behind him.
“Young Master Shen, with so many people here today, she has nowhere to run. Once we deal with Shen Zheng, you can handle her however you like. But for now, we still need her to keep Shen Zheng in check.”
A black-clad old man signaled to the bodyguards following him, who immediately rushed toward Xia Yu. He then bent down and whispered into Shen Tingyu’s ear.
Shen Yao had fallen. Under duress, they had no choice but to rely on him, the eldest legitimate son. Yet, this Shen Tingyu was also a hopeless disappointment, crumbling after just a few rounds against Shen Zheng. They had to secretly devise other plans.
After repeated investigations, Shen Zheng seemed to have a faint affection only for her stepdaughter. They had planned to spend more effort kidnapping her, but meeting her here was an unexpected windfall.
Shen Tingyu glanced at the old man. A sliver of clarity returned to his bloodshot eyes. He took a deep breath, gritted his teeth, and ordered again:
“Capture her alive.”
“System, System, do we have enough points?” Xia Yu watched the approaching bodyguards warily. She swept her hands across the bar top, sending all the wine glasses crashing toward them, momentarily blocking the bodyguards. Seizing the gap, Xia Yu immediately bolted outward, asking quickly.
“Enough, enough! Host, retreat! Retreat now!” The system shrieked, looking at the mass of muscled, dark-clad bodyguards lunging toward Xia Yu.
“Left, Host! Right, right…”
“Directly behind you, Host!”
A bodyguard on the left swept low, aiming for her legs. A bodyguard on the right curved his fingers into claws, reaching for her arms. A bodyguard behind her viciously swung an iron bar straight toward Xia Yu’s head… A group of fierce bodyguards lunged at her from all directions.
Xia Yu narrowed her eyes and swiftly leaped onto the stage, which had descended into chaos the moment the bodyguards appeared. As soon as the conflict erupted, the bar staff recognized them. After consulting with management, they immediately issued a clearing order.
However, the bar’s human traffic was too high. Before they could clear many people out, the fight had already started. The moment the fierce black-clad bodyguards leaped out with iron bars, the entire bar erupted into pandemonium.
The crowd surged like a tide. Tables and chairs were overturned, glass shattered, and liquor spilled everywhere. Under the flickering lights, people ran in all directions, pushing and shoving toward the exit. The scene was extremely chaotic.
Xia Yu, like an agile leopard, darted onto the disorganized stage. She quickly moved forward a few steps, avoided the low sweep on her left, and then dodged the grasping hands from the right with a quick turn.
After narrowly creating some distance, she ran straight toward the black lumps (the drums/speakers) placed on the stage.
She moved nimbly, weaving between the instruments. Without even looking back, she continuously pushed the instruments behind her. Amidst the loud crashes, quite a few bodyguards were struck.
Xia Yu’s eyes darted around, and she jumped off the stage, running toward areas with more clutter. Sometimes she crouched low, sometimes she sharply changed direction, leaping and climbing across the bar.
With the flickering lights, the chaotic crowd, and the system giving her accurate path-calculation cheats, the bodyguards genuinely couldn’t catch Xia Yu for a while.
Shen Zheng finished dealing with the Shen family matters before dawn today. Seeing she had some time before the start of the next workday, she decided to return to the Xia family, feeling a little nostalgic for Xia Yu whom she hadn’t seen in days.
She thought that Xia Yu was likely asleep at this hour.
Shen Zheng tiredly rubbed her temples and got out of the car, covered in dust from the road. She saw that the Xia house, which should have been quiet at this time, was brightly lit. All the staff members were frantically moving up and down the premises, seemingly searching for something.
The butler, seeing Shen Zheng walk in, looked as if she had seen a savior. She anxiously reported to Shen Zheng: “Miss Shen, I was just about to look for you. The Young Head of the Family is missing! We’ve searched all the places she usually goes, and her phone can’t be reached.”
Shen Zheng’s body stiffened at the news. Her light eyebrows instantly sank, and her eyes narrowed, sharp as swords. She asked in a deep voice: “When did you discover this?”
“The Young Head of the Family returned to her room to rest after dinner. It wasn’t until a while ago, when I routinely brought her milk and opened the door, that the room was empty. We thought she might be somewhere else, but we’ve searched the whole house and haven’t found her.”
Shen Zheng’s fingertips tightened. She suddenly had an ominous premonition. The Shen family’s old guard had been severely suppressed by her these past few days. They were capable of anything now. It was highly likely they had been driven to desperation.
That little brat! Even if she went out to play, she should have brought people and informed the family. Honestly, she’s asking for a beating!
Shen Zheng pursed her lips, her lowered brow peaks furrowed. Anger touched her serious face, though she wasn’t sure if it was directed at Xia Yu or those people from the Shen family.
“Normally, if the Young Head of the Family goes out for business, she always tells someone and brings enough people. It’s so late. If she’s not home and is outside, nothing bad will happen, will it?” The butler said tremulously, looking at the pitch-black night.
“Nothing will happen. If anything does happen, none of those people will live.” They will all die.
Shen Zheng’s tightly pressed lips trembled slightly, and her fingertips clenched, showing a chilling ruthlessness.
