The Cannon Fodder NPC Went Too Far [Quick Transmigration] - Chapter 21
Chapter 21
The morning light was faint, and the lock on the basement door silently clicked open.
Shen Zheng lay on her side at the edge of the bed, propped up on her right arm, hand cradling her cheek. Her dark hair was scattered casually around her.
She looked down, her long eyelashes like the wings of a fanning butterfly, casting a faint shadow on her eyelids.
She gazed tenderly at the sleeping Xia Yu beside her and playfully poked her nose with her left hand.
Such a good child.
Xia Yu’s eyelids slightly trembled, and she slowly opened her eyes, looking around at the drastically changed surroundings in a daze, seemingly still not fully awake.
She blinked, and her innocent gaze instantly met Shen Zheng’s gentle eyes.
Shen Zheng subtly curved her lips, brought her face close to Xia Yu’s ear, and lightly blew a puff of air onto it, teasing: “Awake?”
A tingling current snaked from her auricle down the ear canal. Xia Yu instinctively shrank her neck, covered her instantly flushed ear, and shoved away Shen Zheng’s enlarged face with a slap.
The absurd events of last night surged into Xia Yu’s mind like a tide.
The firm, toned abs, the soft, moist red lips, and that rounded, powerful knee…
Xia Yu’s cheeks instantly flushed crimson. She grabbed the quilt and forcefully pulled it over her head, covering herself completely.
A small mound quickly rose in front of Shen Zheng, like a silly ostrich burying its head in the sand with its rear sticking out.
If emotions could be materialized at that moment, the little phoenix’s head would undoubtedly be billowing with thick smoke.
A soft stream of laughter escaped Shen Zheng’s throat. She casually twirled a lock of hair by her cheek and teased: “Is the little cub shy?”
A muffled grunt came from inside the quilt. With a rustling sound, Xia Yu turned over, presenting her rear to Shen Zheng, and refused to speak.
“Little cub, if you don’t come out, I might have to take other measures, like last night’s…” Shen Zheng elongated her tone, pausing suggestively.
“Shen Zheng! You’re shameless!” Before Shen Zheng could utter the rest of the sentence, Xia Yu flung off the quilt covering her head, glaring at her with a bright red face.
“Finally out. What part of me is shameless?” Shen Zheng raised an eyebrow, feigning ignorance, and blinked innocently, looking at Xia Yu with a face full of curiosity.
“I was the one who took off clothes last night, but you were fully dressed. I was the one bound by the tie, but you were free to move. What could I have done, being so restricted?”
Xia Yu listened to Shen Zheng’s orderly analysis—a blatant piece of sophistry. She opened her mouth and stammered: “But… but…” I was the one who was made to cry.
Noticing that teasing the little cub further would only lead to more furious embarrassment, Shen Zheng reined in her slightly smug and frivolous expression. She slowly sat up. The quilt that had draped over her body slipped down, revealing her upper body in only a tank top.
She moved to the other side of the bed, knelt on one knee, took hold of Xia Yu’s feverish hand, and looked intently into her eyes, asking softly: “So, little cub, what is our relationship now?”
Although she tried to keep her voice steady, the slight tremor at the end betrayed her nervousness.
Even though she had personally heard Xia Yu admit her feelings the night before, she couldn’t help but feel uneasy. She was afraid Xia Yu would deny it after a night’s sleep, or that she would feel this affection was socially inappropriate, even though she and Xia Yu were practically unrelated.
She… Under Xia Yu’s silent face, a multitude of anxieties flooded Shen Zheng’s mind, making her feel slightly panicked.
In fact, she should have adopted a safer approach, instead of openly seducing her like a reckless child. She should have slowly tested and confirmed Xia Yu’s feelings, then seized the opportunity. Not like this, where she was stuck between a rock and a hard place.
If she denies it, can their relationship ever return to the way it was?
Xia Yu blinked lightly. The hand gripping hers was damp, beads of sweat glistening. So, the always-composed Shen Zheng could be nervous, too.
“We are…” Xia Yu raised her tone, drawing out the word. She looked at Shen Zheng’s tight jaw and pressed lips, signs of her anxiety.
Xia Yu suddenly leaned in close to Shen Zheng, quickly pecking her lips, then smiled with eyes curved like a satisfied kitten that had stolen a fish.
“Of course, it’s this kind of relationship.”
“Shen Zheng is fond of Xia Yu, and Xia Yu is also fond of Shen Zheng.” Even though her face was red enough to steam, Xia Yu looked seriously at Shen Zheng, each word emerging clearly from her mouth.
A smile rushed uncontrollably onto Shen Zheng’s face. She lowered her head and kissed the back of Xia Yu’s hand. Then, she leaned forward, her breath softly caressing Xia Yu’s face.
Her lips first gently touched Xia Yu’s forehead, then kissed her brows, tracing a path downward.
She kissed the corner of Xia Yu’s eye. Xia Yu’s eyelashes fluttered. Suppressing her shyness, she opened her eyes wide, looking at Shen Zheng, who was inches away.
Shen Zheng was kneeling on the floor. Her waterfall of long hair was casually spread, obscuring most of her skin.
Her expression was soft, her dark eyes filled with a gentle light, reflecting only Xia Yu’s image.
Not focusing.
Shen Zheng sensed Xia Yu’s distraction. She playfully gnashed her teeth and lightly nipped Xia Yu’s nose as a punishment.
“Shen Zheng!” Xia Yu’s lips were slightly parted. She gave Shen Zheng a glare.
In the next moment, Shen Zheng sealed her mouth, taking advantage of the prior gap to force her way in, hooking and sucking Xia Yu’s tongue, which kept trying to retreat.
Sweet. Shen Zheng narrowed her eyes lazily. Still not satisfied, she grew bolder, swirling her tongue inside.
Shen Zheng’s lips pressed tightly, leaving no space for Xia Yu. Xia Yu felt all the air in her chest being sucked away. She gasped for air, but could only inhale Shen Zheng’s hot breath.
Her eyes were slightly widened from lack of oxygen, filled with confusion and panic. Her usually neat hair was dishevelled, tangled and interwoven with Shen Zheng’s hair, a confused mix of one another.
Xia Yu pounded Shen Zheng’s shoulder with her fist. Shen Zheng finally retreated, still looking unsatisfied. In front of Xia Yu, she used her slender finger to rub her own lips, smoothing the overflowing moisture. Like applied lipstick, Shen Zheng’s lips looked even more hydrated and vivid.
A wave of tingling electricity swept over Xia Yu. She lifted her hand and forcefully pushed Shen Zheng’s shoulder. Just as she was about to scold her, she spotted the scratch marks on Shen Zheng’s back.
Several swollen red marks were imprinted on Shen Zheng’s shoulders, some light, some heavy, with a few even drawing bl00d.
The light and heavy scratching, the tightly clenched fingers, the convulsing legs…
The overly shameful memories flashed through Xia Yu’s mind. She blushed, gently touching the marks on Shen Zheng’s back with her fingertip, and whispered: “Last night I… did it hurt?”
How could there be such a compliant little cub? She was the one who was bullied, yet she was asking if it hurt.
“No, it didn’t hurt.” Shen Zheng shook her head gently at Xia Yu, then narrowed her eyes, carefully reminisced about the scene, and smiled with a hint of pride, showing her white teeth.
“It felt great.”
Perhaps Xia Yu was somewhat delirious then, but in reality, the harder Xia Yu scratched, the more excited Shen Zheng became.
“Mmm…” A muffled grunt came from Shen Zheng’s throat. Xia Yu bit her shoulder hard, then skipped past her and walked toward the door.
“I’m going to work. Don’t follow me,” Xia Yu yelled angrily at Shen Zheng, then ran out the door without looking back, leaving Shen Zheng alone.
A low, muffled laugh escaped Shen Zheng’s throat. She straightened up, shaking her head helplessly at the empty basement.
This little cub, she actually bites.
“Shen Zheng, what would you have done if I hadn’t been tempted by you last night?” Perhaps the blush had subsided. The little phoenix, dressed in a suit, poked the ‘beast in human clothes,’ Shen Zheng, and asked curiously with wide eyes.
Shen Zheng seriously adjusted her tie, her eyes sharp and stern. She was the all-powerful CEO Shen again.
CEO Shen raised her eyebrows and said in a low voice: “Then I would have been ‘drunk.’ When I woke up, I would still be your elder, your stepmother…” She paused for a few seconds, watching Xia Yu’s rapidly blinking eyelashes with a playful look.
“Perhaps I would have tried hard to restrain myself, staying by your side as an elder, teaching you, watching you shine brilliantly, watching you proudly tell me the good news: that you’ve found someone you like.
And then I would spend the rest of my life lurking like a rat in a sewer, spying on your life with your loved one.”
“Or perhaps, watching others be intimate with you every day, I would eventually be unable to bear it. I would ruthlessly kill everyone surrounding you, break your wings, and imprison you in the pitch-black basement, making you belong to me forever.”
Shen Zheng’s voice grew deeper and deeper. Her eyes drooped wearily. In her black clothes and with her long hair, she looked incredibly fierce and cold for a moment, like the day she decisively shot the armed old man.
Xia Yu wasn’t scared at all. She smiled brightly at Shen Zheng, affectionately rubbed her nose against Shen Zheng’s shoulder, and then stood in front of her, proudly declaring:
“But there are no ‘what ifs.’ I chose you. I like you.”
“Yes, fortunately, Xia Yu, you chose me.” Shen Zheng’s brow gradually relaxed. Her weary eyes were tinged with a warm glow, and the corners of her mouth unconsciously turned up into a gentle smile.
Only then did Xia Yu hum contentedly. She didn’t like Shen Zheng’s previous expression—like a large abandoned wolf dog, looking pitiful.
“Besides, Shen Zheng, you aren’t that bad. You wouldn’t treat me like that,” Xia Yu softly retorted. The person who is favored is always brave and fearless.
It was as if a few fake cries from her would immediately make Shen Zheng drop her weapons and surrender.
Shen Zheng shrugged, not continuing the topic. Who could really say?
A wolf is a wolf, after all. Even if it wears sheep’s clothing and starts eating vegetarian food, it is still a carnivore that grew up on human flesh and bl00d.
It might hide its bloodlust for some purpose, but the innate ferocity in its bones can never be erased.
The claws that are retracted out of love could very likely flash again if that love were ever lost.
