The Cannon Fodder NPC Went Too Far [Quick Transmigration] - Chapter 26
Chapter 26
Drizzling water slid down Shen Zheng’s cheeks, soaking the front of her shirt; it was hard to tell if it was water or tears. Shen Zheng lowered her eyes, remaining stiff and stunned.
Xia Yu was taken aback, and the anger that had flared up quietly died down. She reached out and tugged on Shen Zheng’s sleeve, whispering, “Shen Zheng, you know I didn’t mean it that way.”
“Xia Yu, I don’t know. I don’t know anything.” Shen Zheng lowered her gaze to Xia Yu’s hand stubbornly clinging to her and gave a self-mocking laugh.
“Since I met you, the few times you’ve been in danger have almost all been related to Shen Tingyu. You always seem to run into him alone.”
“The last time at the bar, and this time too. I don’t believe it’s an accident. Someone who had never been to a bar before and never had the leisure to wander the compound.”
Shen Zheng paused, unsurprised to catch a flash of guilt in Xia Yu’s eyes.
“In fact, I don’t care. Whether you hate him, despise him, or even want Shen Tingyu’s life, as long as you tell me, I’ll deliver it to you on a silver platter.”
“Even if you truly don’t trust me and think I would go easy on him, you should have brought enough people. Whether you wanted to hack him to pieces or carve him up, it’s up to you. I would rather receive a call from the police about your mishandling than news that your life is in danger.”
“This is the second time, Xia Yu.” Shen Zheng’s brows were tightly furrowed, and her lips were pressed into a thin line. Her eyelids lifted slightly, and two shards of ice seemed to crystalize in her dark eyes, shrouded in a quiet, intense rage that escalated with the passing time.
She gently pushed Xia Yu’s fingers away and impatiently tugged at her wet shirt.
Xia Yu looked at her empty hand, opened her mouth, wanting to explain, but found she couldn’t articulate it clearly.
She cautiously glanced at Shen Zheng’s stern and cold face, her dangling calves swaying slightly.
So fierce. She was like her Imperial Tutor when she studied in the imperial study, as if she would raise a stick to strike her palm the next moment.
Xia Yu pouted pitifully. No, being beaten by Shen Zheng when she thought of her as a mother was one thing, but being beaten again now would be too shameful.
She raised her head, grabbed Shen Zheng’s sleeve again, swaying slightly. Her flaming eyes blinked innocently, and a layer of moisture appeared in her whimpering sounds.
Shen Zheng’s stern expression remained untouched. She was using charm again. That trick wouldn’t work on her.
“Do you think that a little flirting and a teary eye, like last time, can easily make this matter disappear?”
“Xia Yu, is it that you don’t trust me and won’t tell me anything, or…” Shen Zheng paused, her gaze as sharp as an eagle’s, fixed tightly on Xia Yu, not missing any subtle expression on her face.
“You had no choice and had to do this.”
Xia Yu was like a frightened kitten. Her eyes widened, looking at her in shock, and her swaying feet instantly went rigid.
If Shen Zheng hadn’t carried her to the sink just now, she would have probably flapped her wings and bolted by now.
Shen Zheng looked at the slightly agape Xia Yu. Her cold expression softened a bit. The little phoenix was young and didn’t guard against her much. She easily obtained the information she needed.
Perhaps out of concern that Xia Yu might react badly if she directly exposed her, Shen Zheng’s words were not overly explicit.
During this recent purge of the Shen family remnants, she had followed the clues and discovered many interesting things.
She hadn’t investigated Xia Yu before, but when she seriously looked through Xia Yu’s life history, she had a faint sense of incongruity.
The appearance was the same, the personality was similar, and even the housekeeper who had watched her grow up only commented that the young lady had grown up and matured.
Yet, Shen Zheng could tell at a glance that the shell contained a different soul.
No matter how much a person grows, their underlying logic does not change. While both shared the trait of being proud, the arrogance of looking down on everyone and the pride of being dazzling and uninhibited were vastly different.
Combined with her subsequent series of actions, Shen Zheng easily deduced Xia Yu’s mission objective: Shen Tingyu.
The man who had already passed away before Xia Yu was even sent to the hospital, a person she wouldn’t be able to save no matter how much she regretted it later.
Since Xia Yu’s mission target was dead, would she stay by her side?
Would she be transferred to other worlds to endlessly complete the tasks assigned to her, leaving her forever?
Therefore, even though the doctor repeatedly stressed that Xia Yu’s injuries were minor and she would wake up in a few days, Shen Zheng felt no joy.
She sat quietly by Xia Yu’s bedside, gazing at Xia Yu’s peaceful sleeping face, the dark eyes tinged with a bloody red.
Shen Zheng was like a silent statue, unmoving, not daring to blink, afraid that if she wasn’t careful, Xia Yu’s breathing would cease. She would leave her forever.
The darkness was thick as ink, almost consuming her. Sweat mixed with tears, ravaging Shen Zheng’s face, drenching her completely.
She shivered, stroking Xia Yu’s warm cheek, wanting to call out to her, but her throat felt like it was being choked by a hand, unable to make a sound.
She knelt at the feet of the goddess of fortune, awaiting the judgment of fate.
Even after Xia Yu woke up, Shen Zheng remained constantly on edge, her heart pounding restlessly, unable to find peace.
She dared not stop for a moment, staying by Xia Yu’s side, until just now, when she caught a glimpse of Xia Yu’s usual bright and beautiful eyes. Shen Zheng was momentarily lost in thought, then suddenly realized.
Since Yu Yu hadn’t disappeared these past few days, could she… could she finally believe that Yu Yu had the right to choose, that she wouldn’t leave her?
“Shen Zheng.” Xia Yu cupped Shen Zheng’s face, gently wiping away the tear stains. Looking directly into her bloodshot eyes, she promised, word by word:
“Don’t worry, from now on, I will never leave you. We can be together forever.”
Due to the non-disclosure agreement, Xia Yu couldn’t reveal any information about the system, but with the system turning a blind eye, Xia Yu vaguely hinted at the previous situation, then proudly puffed out her chest, full of vigor.
See, Shen Zheng. Through our joint efforts, we are finally together.
“Really? That thing won’t force you anymore?” Shen Zheng blinked, questioning her repeatedly to be sure.
“Really. Absolutely true.” Xia Yu tilted her head slightly, her lips lightly brushing against Shen Zheng’s eyes, kissing away the salty tears bit by bit.
Shen Zheng’s eyelashes fluttered. She turned her face and lightly kissed Xia Yu’s palm. With a tingling sensation, Shen Zheng planted fragmented kisses on her fair wrist.
Her soft lips trailed along the arm, finally resting on her left shoulder.
The wound had already scabbed and peeled, and the newly formed tissue in the center was pink, a stark contrast to the surrounding normal skin, like a twisted centipede wrapped around it.
“Does it hurt?” Shen Zheng looked at the wound with pity and gave it a soft kiss.
“No, it doesn’t hurt. It didn’t hurt at all at first.” Xia Yu winked at Shen Zheng, shaking her head craftily.
A smile curved the corners of Shen Zheng’s eyes and lips. She planted a string of soft, fragmented kisses, tracing the contour of the wound carefully with the tip of her tongue. Then, she gently bit and licked the newly formed soft flesh, repeating the action tirelessly.
“Mmm…” Xia Yu’s breathing quickened slightly. A faint blush spread from her shoulder all the way to her earlobe. She gasped and reached out to push Shen Zheng’s shoulder.
Shen Zheng chuckled lightly. Her slightly cool fingers stroked her ankle, slowly meandering upwards. The friction of her fingertips carried a chilling stickiness, moving all the way up her leg.
Like a venomous snake flicking its tongue, it glided stickily over the wounds on Xia Yu’s leg.
“Yu Yu, would you never get hurt if I just wrapped your legs in bandages and tied you to the bed forever?”
“Shen Zheng, if that were the case, I would rather die.” Xia Yu shivered all over. Her beautiful eyes were covered with a thin layer of moisture. She puffed up her cheeks and quietly talked back.
Shen Zheng let out a light laugh and poked her.
Yu Yu, she knows.
So, she would change her method, and still achieve her goal.
“Shen…” Xia Yu’s eyes widened. Her volume rose, but before she could utter more syllables, she was silenced by a fierce kiss.
Shen Zheng abruptly gripped the back of her head, forcing her lips into her mouth. With a scorching heat and an irresistible force, she pried open Xia Yu’s lips and teeth, wantonly plundering her breath.
The covering slipped away. Fragmented kisses fell on Xia Yu’s tense, upward-stretching neck.
Xia Yu’s fingertips clenched suddenly. She instinctively pushed against Shen Zheng’s shoulder, trying to retreat, but behind her was a cold wall. Where could she retreat to?
Shen Zheng trapped her underneath, becoming even more impassioned.
“Mmm…” Xia Yu’s face was flushed red. Her body trembled uncontrollably. She pressed one hand against Shen Zheng’s wrist and covered her own mouth with the other.
Shen Zheng felt the slight resistance on her wrist and raised an eyebrow. She wasn’t in a hurry.
In a moment, someone would yield.
Xia Yu gazed dizzily at the smiling woman before her, her body trembling. She could no longer suppress the sobs in her mouth, but the sensation wouldn’t subside.
“Shen Zheng, help me…”
“Little cub, be clear.” The teasing voice assaulted Xia Yu from above her head. As she questioned Xia Yu with feigned confusion, she became even more excessive.
Hot tears streamed from her unfocused eyes. Xia Yu withdrew the hand that was pressing against Shen Zheng’s wrist and weakly slapped her.
Shen Zheng tilted her head slightly, a dark light flashing in her eyes. She appeared to gently kiss away the tears on Xia Yu’s face, but her action was exceptionally fierce.
“Mmm… Shen Zheng, you’re so fierce.” Xia Yu raised her head high. Her mind went blank instantly, and even her breathing paused for a moment, unable to make any sound.
Shen Zheng, who exercised regularly, had distinctly jointed hands from gripping barbells, and often worked out for tens of minutes without rest.
Xia Yu cried, whimpering. She thought Shen Zheng would show some restraint, but instead, she became even more unrestrained.
“Shen Zheng.” Xia Yu urgently called out Shen Zheng’s name. Her whole body convulsed. Her hands gripped Shen Zheng’s back tightly.
Under Shen Zheng’s smiling gaze, she drifted away completely.
“I’m fond of you.”
“Little cub, I love you too.”
