The Cannon Fodder NPC Went Too Far [Quick Transmigration] - Chapter 36
Chapter 36
“Ao Yu, let’s go.”
Xu Lu Xi was the first to jump out of the car. Seeing that Gu Ao Yu was still lounging inside, she blinked and called out softly.
“You go. I’m not going.” Gu Ao Yu irritably glanced at the various sized bandages on her body, some of which were even tied with a creative little bow.
She waved her hand at Xu Lu Xi, closing her eyes and leaning against the seat, maintaining a resolute posture.
Yesterday, she was tricked into letting her apply the medicine, and now she’s afraid to remove it for fear of making her cry. It’s so annoying.
She had just beaten up the male lead yesterday. What kind of scene would it be to show up at school today wrapped in gauze? She wouldn’t go.
Xu Lu Xi quietly sat back down, extending her fingertip to gently stroke the gauze on Gu Ao Yu’s arm.
A chill spread stealthily from her arm, like an elusive mist. Gu Ao Yu shivered violently, suddenly opened her eyes, and was about to snap at her.
She saw Xu Lu Xi’s eyelids droop in disappointment. Her finger slipped off, and she gently pulled at Gu Ao Yu’s sleeve.
“You don’t like how I bandaged it?”
“It’s the first time I’ve bandaged someone. I’m not skilled yet. I’ll figure out better styles later. Don’t… don’t dislike it.” The last three words were whispered so softly that Gu Ao Yu would not have heard them if they weren’t inside the car, even with enhanced hearing.
Seeing Gu Ao Yu still maintaining a sullen expression and not responding, Xu Lu Xi pursed her lips, retracted her finger, and anxiously picked at the car door handle.
So annoying, that expression again. That was what she disliked the most.
Gu Ao Yu irritably twitched the corner of her mouth. Her hand, which was loosely hanging down, unconsciously clenched into a fist.
With a foul look on her face, she lightly pushed Xu Lu Xi. As Xu Lu Xi fell back onto the seat in a daze, looking at her confusedly, Gu Ao Yu sprung from the seat like a leopard, quickly jumped out of the car, leaving Xu Lu Xi with a graceful departing back.
“If you’re going, go quickly. Don’t waste time.”
Xu Lu Xi’s eyelashes slightly trembled, and she half-closed her eyes, concealing the churning gray gloom within. She gazed greedily at Gu Ao Yu’s back, bathed in sunlight.
Bright, dazzling, radiant.
How could there be such a good person, such a kind-hearted person in this world? She wanted to be closer to her, even closer.
She wanted her dark eyes to be filled with her own image. She wanted to wet the silver highlights near her temples. She wanted to caress the silver lip stud near her lips. She wanted…
When Gu Ao Yu impatiently looked back to urge her, Xu Lu Xi’s amber eyes were clear and bright. She gently nodded, raised a docile smile, and ran toward Gu Ao Yu.
“Oh my god, is that Gu Ao Yu?”
“Hahahaha, Gu Ao Yu, you’re too funny! Who beat you up yesterday?”
“She must be trying to make people laugh to death with this ridiculous look today, hahahaha.”
As expected, as soon as she stepped into the classroom, the hoodlums commented on Gu Ao Yu’s attire, then burst into unrestrained laughter.
A vein throbbed on Gu Ao Yu’s face. She punched her desk. With a loud bang, the wooden desk shook under the weight. Even the books and papers on Xu Lu Xi’s desk rustled along with it.
Gu Ao Yu slowly kneaded her fist, making her knuckles crackle. She glanced contemptuously at the hoodlums whose skin suddenly tightened.
“Looking for a beating, are we?”
“What do you unloved hoodlums know? It’s because I, her sister, felt sorry for her, you heartless things.”
The confrontation between the two sides abruptly ceased with a soft yet highly aggressive curse. Countless astonished eyes focused on the fuming Xu Lu Xi beside her.
She never resisted when bullied before, always quiet. Why is she so sharp-tongued today, not afraid of them at all? Does she really think she’s found a backer?
Sister? Did she truly believe that Gu Ao Yu would acknowledge her just because she was nominally her stepsister? What a joke. They had known Gu Ao Yu for so many years; they had never seen her submit to anyone. Sister? If Gu Ao Yu didn’t beat her up along with them, they’d take her name.
Oh, oh, oh. The little pitiful thing finally learned to fight back. Not bad, not bad. She should back her up and not discourage her confidence.
“That’s right, she’s my sister. How would you parentless hoodlums understand?” Gu Ao Yu lazily draped an arm over Xu Lu Xi’s shoulder, raising an eyebrow at the stunned hoodlums.
“Gu Ao Yu! You’re asking for it!” The enraged hoodlum picked up a stool and threw it at Gu Ao Yu. Gu Ao Yu raised her arm to block the flying stool. With a dull thud, she flew up and viciously kicked the hoodlum’s abdomen. In no time, she completed the ritual of the daily beating.
The hoodlums were scattered on the floor, groaning in pain. Gu Ao Yu dusted off her hands, turned around, and winked at Xu Lu Xi, utterly brazen.
Xu Lu Xi’s gaze followed her rebellious face, tracing down to her arm. The snow-white bandage was being stained by crimson, spreading out like spots of red plum blossoms, causing a dizzying effect.
Xu Lu Xi’s pupils contracted. Her initial joyful mood came to an abrupt halt. She stood silently, clenching her fists tightly. A cold glare peered through the gaps, her eyes shooting menacingly, hatefully, at the hoodlums lying on the ground, as if laced with poison.
How dare they hurt her! Why aren’t they dead yet!
“What, are you scared?” Gu Ao Yu looked at Xu Lu Xi’s trembling shoulder in confusion.
“Don’t be afraid. These pests, I’ll hit every single one of them, I’ll hit every pair of them.”
Xu Lu Xi slowly raised her head and gently shook it at her, as always.
Gu Ao Yu turned around and kicked the hoodlums again, then leisurely walked out the door as the class bell rang.
She felt much better now.
The crisp and long sound of the end-of-class bell rang out, instantly breaking the stuffy silence in the classroom. Bathed in moonlight, the students in the class finished packing their bags and headed home.
The classroom gradually emptied, leaving only a few scattered people.
The hoodlums who had been sleeping on their desks slowly straightened up. They subtly exchanged glances, then brazenly bumped Xu Lu Xi’s desk as they passed by, laughing wildly as they swaggered away.
Xu Lu Xi abruptly looked up at their retreating backs, her eyelashes fluttering. Then, she clenched the small knife she used for sharpening pencils and walked alone down the corridor, which was only dimly lit by a single light.
She walked all the way to the end. Her figure seemed to be swallowed by the thick darkness, leaving only a rough silhouette under the faint light. Her head was bowed, and her dangling hair vaguely obscured her eyes. She stood gloomily by the restroom door.
“If we beat up Gu Ao Yu’s sister, will she kill us when she retaliates later?”
“You cowards! It’s enough that you’re afraid of Gu Ao Yu, but now you’re afraid of that weak timid girl too?”
“Afraid of what? We’re not blocking her on the road. The blame is on her for needing to use the restroom now. If she walks in right now, it’s fate! We’ll just beat her up casually to vent our frustration. If she doesn’t, we’ll let it go for now and find trouble with Gu Ao Yu tomorrow.”
“Are you talking about me?” The tightly shut door slowly opened without warning. A chill quietly surged through the doorway, and the temperature dropped suddenly.
A figure stood faintly in the doorway. Her face was as pale as paper, and her pupils had no luster.
Everyone involuntarily drew in their arms, their horrified eyes fixed on her.
“What the… you scared me to death! Xu Lu Xi, are you asking for a beating? Don’t walk without making a sound!”
“Well, well, well, effort truly wasn’t needed. Go! Beat her up!”
As the hoodlums screamed in anger and rushed up to beat Xu Lu Xi, Xu Lu Xi’s knife was faster than them.
Her gloomy gaze locked onto the person’s face. Her eyes were quick, and she violently slashed the person’s arm with the knife.
The blade cut through the air, emitting a sharp whistle. With a dull thud, the knife sank into the hoodlum’s arm. The skin was sliced open, leaving a shocking, bl00d-red wound. Amidst a sharp howl, bl00d gushed out.
Her slender wrist was violently grabbed, and the small knife in her hand was forcibly yanked away. Xu Lu Xi was surrounded by the tall hoodlums, constantly waving her arms, trying to block the attacks coming from all directions. Every punch she threw carried a desperate resolve.
However, two fists couldn’t withstand many. All she got in return were more kicks and punches. The hoodlums’ fists rained down on her shoulders, chest, and back. Each hit was accompanied by a dull thud.
Xu Lu Xi’s body swayed like a wilting leaf in the wind. A heavy punch smashed into her abdomen. She gasped in pain, cold sweat streaming down her forehead, and her legs gave out, causing her to fall to her knees.
Immediately, someone grabbed her hair from behind and viciously yanked her head back. Xu Lu Xi was forced to lift her head and took another punch to the face. Her lip was split, and bl00d trickled down her chin.
“How dare you resist! Do you believe we’ll kill you right now?” Another palm struck toward her. Xu Lu Xi, with lightning speed and all her might, opened her mouth and bit down hard on that hand. Her sharp teeth deeply embedded into the person’s flesh. The smell of bl00d instantly spread through her teeth.
Heavier and more punches rained down on her. They grimaced as they left bloody gashes on her body. The crimson bl00d almost soaked her white school uniform, yet she still didn’t let go.
Her eyes were like burning amber. Endless hatred churned in the bloody color, scorching and crushing. It fell lightly onto them, yet seemed to look through them at another group of people.
With a loud bang, the old wooden door shook violently, then slammed fiercely against the wall.
A figure, carrying a strong gust of wind, broke through the door. Gu Ao Yu, expressionless, held a wooden stick she had snatched from the classroom and swung it viciously toward their faces.
In just five or six strikes, the bruised and swollen hoodlums cried and screamed, crawling and scrambling to run out.
Gu Ao Yu didn’t spare them a glance. She looked down at Xu Lu Xi, who was lying on the ground.
Her messy hair was plastered wetly to her face. Her white school uniform jacket was tattered, revealing seeping, bleeding wounds. Her skin was torn open.
Gu Ao Yu violently pulled Xu Lu Xi up by her collar, roaring:
“Xu Lu Xi, are you insane? I told you to resist, but not like this! Do you have a death wish? If I hadn’t come in time, would I have been collecting your corpse?”
Xu Lu Xi mimicked Gu Ao Yu’s earlier action, wiping the bl00d from the corner of her mouth with her finger. But her hands were covered in bl00d, so she couldn’t wipe it clean; she only smeared it more.
She smiled at her, showing a rare burst of defiance.
“Ao Yu, a long, long time ago, I resisted like this too.”
“I just learned to be good later.”
“Now I find that this feeling is not bad at all.”
It was worth it to exchange a brutal beating for that wound on their arm.
