Chapter 18: The Checkup — You’ve Tipped Off the Enemy, You Idiot!
The next day, as soon as Fang Yu opened her eyes, she received an instruction from Gong Shayu:
【Bring swelling cream to pick up Tu Si】
On the way, Assistant Fang imagined many body parts that might need the cream, after all, Miss Tu really had showered in Boss Gong’s room and certainly stayed the night.
She had made many assumptions, but the one thing she hadn’t expected was Tu Si’s hands.
As she applied the cream, Fang Yu felt a rare two-second moment of sympathy for Miss Tu, who had chased after Gong Shayu from Z City. Her methods were indeed a bit clumsy, but who else had her guts and willpower?
To experience an assassination with her sponsor and then dare to share a room—all night long—after watching the boss kill a mercenary.
Truly a role model for the overworked masses. In this moment, Fang Yu suddenly believed Miss Tu would succeed.
“Hold still, this cream is very good. It’ll heal quickly after I rub it in,” the normally strict Assistant Fang blew on the hands while evening out the ointment. For the first time, she mentally defied her boss: She’s truly a pervert!

The Press Conference and the Fallout
The “pervert” boss, along with the hotel PR department, had just arrived at the police station when they were immediately surrounded by local reporters.
Yalu Port boasts stunning scenery, but the country it belongs to is still relatively underdeveloped. In recent years, its fame from tourism has attracted a flood of global visitors, straining public security.
There’s a popular online joke: Come to Yalu Port. If you find safe accommodation, you’ll see heaven; if not, hell welcomes you.
ICC is famous not just for its luxury positioning, but its security system is synonymous with “safety” across all of Yalu Port.
Yet, despite this sterling reputation, the boss herself was attacked.
Gong Shayu, clad in a striking red dress, gracefully ascended the steps. Were it not for the police emblems and national flags around her, the scene would have looked like a superstar’s movie premiere.
“Hello, media friends. I am the person in charge of ICC, and the subject of this malicious incident—Gong Shayu.”
Meanwhile, Fang Yu drove Tu Si to the hospital. The screen in the large car was live-streaming Gong Shayu’s press conference.
Tu Si looked around repeatedly to ensure there was no danger, then turned her gaze to the screen. Seeing Gong Shayu, she excitedly asked Fang Yu, “Why can’t I understand what Sister Shayu is saying?”
From their first encounter, Fang Yu felt Tu Si was different from ordinary people. Aside from frequent typos and grammatical errors in her WeChat messages, she often asked extremely naive questions.
Mentally, Fang Yu had categorized Tu Si as a marginalized person: an orphan, tricked by her hometown sisters, who had unfortunately strayed and developed amnesia.
After last night, Fang Yu’s pity for Tu Si grew. She patiently explained, “Boss Gong is speaking English. This world has many languages. In different places, people use different languages.”
“The official language here is English. High school students also study Mandarin, but the local indigenous people generally speak the local language.”
“English?” Tu Si reached out to touch the car screen, her eyes slightly closed, her expression deeply absorbed.
Fang Yu shook her head, thinking, Kids this age are so prone to infatuation. What will happen when you discover more of Boss Gong’s charm?
A reporter at the scene asked Gong Shayu in the local language, “Given that ICC claims to have the best security, with such a major vicious incident happening, will tourists dare to stay at ICC in the future?” Tu Si didn’t understand the words, but judged the reporter’s tone to be sharp.
Gong Shayu offered a calm smile, then offered a gentle reminder: “Which media outlet are you from, dear reporter? Ah… your question is very good, but aren’t you asking the wrong person?”
Her voice was low and magnetic, like a vinyl record, but her eyes were cold, devoid of warmth.
Everyone in the room held their breath, waiting for the young female boss’s next sentence—after all, she was the one who had personally taken down a mercenary.
Gong Shayu gently tucked a loose strand of hair behind her ear. Her gaze was sharp, locking directly onto the female reporter. “The question you should really be asking is: will Heavy Sword, the organization that calls itself Yalu Port’s fiercest mercenary group, dare to step foot into ICC ever again?”
Her slightly narrowed eyes emitted a dangerous aura. She shifted her gaze from the female reporter to the nearest camera lens, as if staring directly at someone across the air. The smile on her already upturned lips deepened.

The Reaction and the Exam
In a dim space, a man hidden in the shadows lightly swirled the wine glass in his fingers. The brown liquid shifted and warped with his movement, eventually slipping out of the cup and seeping into the carpet as a stain.
When his eyes met the woman’s in the camera lens again, the man’s expression suddenly turned grim. He grit his teeth and sharply questioned, “Didn’t you say you had a ninety percent chance of success?”
“A small accident. Please give me another chance.” The person on the other end of the line answered cautiously. This person was none other than the Yalu Port Police Chief, Hua Xun, who had just stepped down from the press conference!
“You idiot! You’ve tipped off the enemy!”
The electronically processed male voice was initially devoid of emotion, but at this moment, it was clear from the thin layer of sweat covering Hua Xun’s back that he was terrified.
Meanwhile, on Miss Gong’s side, soon after the press conference ended, a call came in from Gong Shayu’s older brother, Gong Shaodong.
Her phone was face down on the table, the incoming call silenced. Gong Shayu truly didn’t have the energy to exchange pleasantries with the person who was the biggest suspect.
The phone persisted, ringing again. Gong Shayu lit a cigarette. After taking a drag, she slowly picked up the phone and looked at the screen—Weng Hongye.
Weng Hongye was Gong Shayu’s only cousin and genuinely cared for her like a sister.
Gong Shayu’s slight frown relaxed. She answered the call, and an anxious male voice immediately came through: “Xiaoyu! Are you okay? Are you hurt?”
“What, were you hoping I’d die?!” Gong Shayu laughed, playfully scolding him.
Weng Hongye laughed too. “I’m just glad you’re fine! You scared me to death. I’m in Europe working on a project. I expect to be back in a month and will come straight to Yalu Port to find you then.”
Gong Shayu: “We’ll see.”
Weng Hongye wanted to offer more advice, but Gong Shayu decisively hung up the phone.
…
“Can’t you read this either?” Fang Yu pointed at the medical record book in her hand and suddenly laughed. “Sorry, sorry, I forgot. This is all in English. See, this top line is English, and the line below it is the local script.”
Tu Si nodded blankly. Human writing was too hard to learn. Listening and speaking were fine; she could pick those up quickly by following various “iron boxes” (screens/devices).
But reading was as difficult as counting every star in the sky.
Seeing her difficulty, Assistant Fang asked Tu Si each question line by line and filled in the answers one by one.
Tu Si lied about everything except her age and gender, which meant her answers were likely inconsistent.
Whenever this happened, Fang Yu patiently explained the context again.
After the psychological consultation and the IQ test, it was already dark. The brain CT would have to wait until tomorrow.
After a full day of “ear training,” Tu Si seemed to understand some simple English.
On the way back, Tu Si curiously asked, “What is a brain CT?”
Fang Yu soothed her, “Don’t worry, there’s nothing to be scared of. It just uses radiation to take a picture of the structure inside your head. It doesn’t hurt.”
Tu Si’s heart leaped. She suddenly remembered Hu Die telling her that she absolutely must not let any human machine examine her body.
